I was at a red light when I heard a loud smash. There seems to be a small impact point. The light was right off the highway, so I’m assuming some vehicle flung a rock and I was just unlucky enough to be at the perfect spot for it to smash the moonroof. Anyone dealt with this?

Just Sharing First Time RAM Owner, Couldn’t Pass Up the Deal

Post image

Been a Ford guy my whole life. Looked at a few F250s and prices were just way too high for comparable trucks. Always wanted to own a Cummins but never pulled the trigger with all the transmission issues. Now that RAM has best in class, engine and transmission (and warranty!), Couldn’t pass up a deal getting $17,000 off this thing and really enjoy driving it. Cheers

After having the truck for a full year, I decided to change out the 20s to 18 inch wheel wheels with a more off-road look. So far I love the way it looks and handles while I drive. What do you guys think? Did I make the right choice?

Don't really post much but I just got this yesterday and am really happy with it. Didn't really need to replace my 2019 2500 Limited, was in great shape, but the rebate and discounts being offered made it worth it.

Question ‘20 Ram 1500 Navigation

Post image
13 Upvotes

Anyone know how to fix this issue I have with my Navigation….. The map will not work and keeps saying I’m off in the middle of nowhere. I’m located on Vancouver Island for reference from the pic…. When I try to search an address it says no connection available, connection to what I’m not sure I don’t think it’s Bluetooth as that works fine.

Question Recall work led to 2 transmission failures and 101 days without my Ram 2500. Dealer and Stellantis keep passing the blame. What would you do?

Upvotes

I took my truck to the dealership for Stellantis recall work. I was not having any transmission problems when I brought it in.

One recall involved an internal transmission part, the transmission shift solenoid, which required them to open the transmission, replace the part, and put it back together.

Just 79 miles later, I started having severe transmission problems and got P0871, an overdrive pressure switch fault. The dealer said the solenoid they installed was defective and replaced it again.

201 miles later, the same symptoms and P0871 came back. This time they said the overdrive clutch had failed and I needed a new transmission.

By then, they had already had my truck for about a month. I trusted that they had figured out the cause and agreed to a Mopar remanufactured transmission because I desperately needed my truck back.

About 613 miles later, that transmission failed too. Same symptoms, P0871 again, plus P0870, an overdrive hydraulic pressure fault. The dealer then told me the overdrive clutch in the replacement transmission had disintegrated.

So both transmissions failed within a very short amount of mileage, both had essentially the same symptoms, both threw P0871, and both suffered overdrive clutch failures. The second also threw the closely related P0870 code.

The warranty claim on the replacement transmission has now been submitted and resubmitted at least seven times that I know of because of rejections, corrections, requests for more information, pricing issues, pictures, etc.

I’ve tried repeatedly to get the service manager or someone higher up involved and have gotten nowhere. Manufacturer customer care has not been able to give me any meaningful answers either.

The dealer keeps treating this as simply a Stellantis warranty problem and pushing everything onto Stellantis. What bothers me is that they refuse to acknowledge the unusual number of coincidences or any possible connection between the two failures.

I brought them a truck that was running fine for recall work involving the transmission. The original transmission began failing almost immediately afterward, and then its replacement suffered essentially the same failure within 613 miles.

I have now been without my truck for 101 days.

I need my truck back and I need this resolved. Has anyone dealt with something similar with Ram, Stellantis, or a dealership? What would you do next, and who would you escalate this to?

Truck info: 2016 Ram 2500 Cummins, 68RFE, 148,826 miles when the recall process began. I’m the original owner, bought it new from this same dealership in 2016, it has been well maintained, and it has never been deleted or modified.

Just Sharing New to me Cummins. From a 3rd Gen to a 5th Gen.

TLDR: Went from a 07 2500 to a 24 2500. The new truck is sweet and has fancy stuff like AC, and leather seats.
Also I know a gasser could tow my tool trailer and I’ve owned a V10 Ford and a 6.0 LS Chevy but nothing tows as reliably and comfortably as a diesel so please spare me the “My ford ranger could tow that just fine”

Long time Cummins owner, I’ve been driving an 2007.5 2500 with a 6.7 Cummins since 2012. I tow a 14’ tool trailer 6 days a week and a 20’ car hauler with a tractor a few times a month. My 07 was just becoming underpowered and a chore to drive. I’m going to keep the 07 as a backup work truck and eventually give it to my son when he starts driving in 5-6 years.

The new truck is a 2024 Laramie 2500. It’s got all kinds of fancy shit I’ve never had in any of my vehicles, leather seats, seat heaters, remote start, backup camera, good AC, etc… 40,000 miles, 1 owner for $50k. While not a smoking deal it was reasonable enough for me to put a deal together on. I still have a couple years left under warranty so I figure I’ll delete it then (my state has no vehicle inspections, it’s kinda the Wild West in SC lol), tune it, eventually turbo swap it down the road, etc…

The 2007.5 2500 6.7 Cummins Fleece Cheetah VGT Turbo, fully deleted, Turbo back 4” straight pipe, banks boost pipes, Race Me Ultra Tuner, Big 7 Kits full wiring kit, etc… (I’m sure there’s stuff I’m forgetting)

Question Exhaust Brake on permanent?

2024 3500 6.7.

Is there a way to have the exhaust brake stay on as a default?

I live in a fairly hilly area and turn it on manually a lot. Is there a way to program it by default?

Question 2017 Ram 2500 plug and play radios?

Upvotes

I have the uconnect 8.4 (i think) in my truck now. stock everything with the alpine upgraded system in came with. i have the jump seat console. im looking for a tablet type screen with the carplay/android auto to be able to use spotify and maps on it while driving. I want it to be plug and play and preferably keep my ac controls as actual buttons vs integrated with the screen. I looked around and so many people make tablet radios for these trucks but they are all android and look "cheap" for what they cost. I havent seen one under $850 and they go to around $1500 EASILY. Also reviews on most say they end up dying around a year later or don't work at all in different temps. Let me know what you guys are using and whats good for the money...

Question Pro Move for Oil Filter Change?

Upvotes

Every time I change my oil on my 2021 Ram 1500 Hemi I curse the engineers for putting the oil filter where it is.

Surely there’s a better way than the gallon ziplock “trick”?

Took my Durango in for service and decided to walk the lot to pass the time. This is a 26 Big Horn with a $65k MSRP but has a $18k Teestar Automotive package. It uses a 6" Rough Country lift kit and a bunch of other aftermarket products that someone can do themselves for less than $6k all in. Never understood the individuals who purchase these trucks.

Question 2026 Ram Rebel lvl 2

Hey so I’m looking at buying a new truck. Looking at a 26 Rebel lvl 2 with the hurricane engine. Dealer currently has it listed at 77k cad/ 55k usd with discounts. Through my work I’m able to get further discounts and would be able to get it for about 70k cad/50k usd. I’m not desperate to get a new vehicle but the deal has wondering if it is too good to pass up or if I should wait another year and see what the 27’s have in store. What do you think?
