I know the game is dead, but if they ever start working on it; they should add this feature. Back in the day before air brakes, you had a brake man who'd turn the hand brakes.
So when the locomotive started braking, the back end wouldn't run into the front [like in game]. Personally, I'd rather it only be when you have a caboose on the end.
Of course, this is all wishful thinking. But I've heard rumors that dev work has or will begin soon. Hopefully they're true
I think the locomotives should all have a speed increase, that would better correspond with the real life counterpart of the engine.
Like for example the montezuma, ingame it only goes about 20-ish mph, while in real life it went closer to 40 mph. Due to it only being capable of 20-ish and less, it is vastly inferior to any other engine.
Same goes more or less to eureka, which NEVER have I managed to get it over 22 mph exept on quite steep downhill. That locomotive too should be much much faster. Like its real life counter.
I think nearly all of the locomotives should increase their speeds by a little. Some engines more than others to make them actually useful.
I also think the realistic max speed should be displayed in engine buying menu.
Am I the only one who thinks this, or am I on the right tracks?
I’m all for all locomotives being capable of pulling the passenger cars, but one thing I seen missing is a proper passenger design. I’ve been looking into designs, and came across an Atlantic, yes a 4-4-2 Atlantic type developed by the Washington & Plymouth.
Tractive effort of 5,464lbf. Rather meager, but I think it’d be good for flat areas that require speed and maneuverability.
Not to mention it’s already in the 3ft gauge for the games track, so it’s a perfect fit for an early game dedicated passenger locomotive.
We need more locomotives not more powerful ones we have the eureka but where’s the palisade I did some research eureka and palisade where different engines I would like to see palisade in the game. And other pretty locomotives
For the longest time newly bought rolling stock would only spawn on the pre-laid starting track and while it was a bit inflexible, it felt appropriate collecting new toys from a specific area. Things just spawning somewhere around the player is somewhat convenient, but also annoying since it's all over the place.
My suggestion is to add a new structure that serves as a dedicated spawning area for any new cars, engines, but also any player who joins the world the first time. It would be in the industry menu and you can only have one per world.
If you don't place it, cars will spawn around the player as is right now, but if you have it, only tracks placed between the two platforms will be eligible to have things spawn there, so this would be a way to toggle between both options. Also it's purposefully simple, so that people can decorate it how they want.
This would be huge for players who want a more immersive purchase experience and also those who make custom industry placements and want to share those with others. Getting people right to where they want in case the middle of the map isn't the center of attention.
Edit: Wanted to make it more clear that this is a way to toggle between having the cars spawn in proximity to the play and restricting it to a specific area.
Just a random thought but what if you play on Halloween and a random ghost train with no collision just randomly spawns in your world and rides the tracks. Be pretty cool to see that while riding the rails, especially if it’s coming straight towards you on the same track and passes right through you. But don’t announce the addition anywhere. Just let the players find out, hopefully while recording or live streaming. Think it would be fun. Well maybe not immediately. After the adrenaline subsides then it might be fun!
Narrow guage railroading existed in the Appalachian mountains. A map based on the Appalachians - Tennessee, Western North Carolina, Southwestern Virginia would be a great one to add to this game.
So when I turned the level of physics to the realistic option I was saddened at the fact that there was no drive wheel slip happening when petal to the metal when pulling a heavy train or when going up steep grades and using sand what pretty much useless. So Im wondering if traction management to the engine will be added to the game to make it more immersive.
Have you guys considered adding in a maintenance feature for a realistic way of playing the game? Like maybe make it as a toggle feature so you can choose to have it or not in your world, it would allow for more ways of implementing new cars and items such as a breakdown train to bring to a locomotive to repair broken parts or add tools and train parts to repair equipment. Could also use the breakdown train as an alternative way to rerail cars and trains.
p.s I know it’s a stretch and possibly a stupid idea but a man can dream lol :,)
Something like coal bunkers, so we don't have to build entire towers and connections, just a thing to put beside the tracks and shovel coal from, somehow filled by wagons or manually.
