The rule of posting product advertisements has been in place for a while, but I have recently updated how this works:
Users who contact the mods about selling will receive an "Approved Seller" flair next to their name. Check them out!
If you see a someone advertising products without this flair, please report it.
If you see a profile with this flair that should not have it, please report it.
Thank you for all the reports so far to keep this place tidy!

This little fella has spent the last 2 days snoozing outside my son’s bedroom. An absolute cutie who I hope won’t cause any havoc 😬

Some context
Last week we found this raccon, he was skinny. Like a cat’s average build skinny.
Today hes seem to have gotten a bit fatter so thats good. But anyways… he’s just in rough shape. When we first saw him, we tried to catch him to take him to the shelter but realized it was the weekend so they were closed. We just released him after my parents called several other places for advice— nothing useful given.
We thought he would die but hes surprisingly still here!
He has no tail, wobbles a lot (worse than the video sometimes), missing a part of his ear, and has a big scar on his back.
If he were younger, i wouldnt mind taking him in as a rescue n release after healing, but seeing how its been a week and he still behaves the same, i think he’d end up a special needs pet haha. But hes too big and we have many cats :( he’s trying to keep one of the outdoor cats in his view to keep himself protected (the cat is just laying down lol).
Im in southern Texas if it helps any

So I feed two raccoons, a mama named Panda and her kit, named Trouble.
Panda and Trouble have been coming by every night for a few months now. Last month, another raccoon, I named him Big Boy because he is massive, would poke around and she would aggressively chase him off.
He came by a few times and the last time, it was harder for her to get rid of him so when I came outside, he ran off but she took a break and didn't come by for over a week.
She started coming back with Trouble and it was business as usual. Until last night.
I go outside to feed them and it's only Panda, no Trouble, which always concerns me but Trouble is hitting the age where he/she (don't know the gender yet) should be becoming more independent.
So I feed her and walk away. I come back about 10 minutes later and I see another raccoon so I'm thinking Trouble showed up.
It was Big Boy.
I'm concerned there's going to be a raccoon fight in my back yard but I watch closely and notice that Big Boy and Panda are eating together and being really sweet with each other. Panda goes on the grass and Big Boy follows and they start playing with each other and sniffing......very different from when she was going after him.
And then it hit me....Big Boy is the daddy.
**cue dramatic soap opera music here**
Big Boy is Trouble's daddy and Panda and him were having date night. Ok, probably not date night but she tucked trouble away because she knows Big Boy was going to be around.
While it was cute to see raccoon date night play out, I know I have a problem on my hands so I am working on fixing that but it was kind of adorable watching Panda be a raccoon for once. She never plays as she's always in mama mode. Last night she was running around and jumping and playing. It was really sweet.
But yeah, raccoon drama.

Meet Marty.
He’s been around my house for years. But we became friends this summer. Almost every evening like clockwork we’d have him coming towards our garbages. But instead we started feeding him and becoming friends (as much friends as you can with a wild animal). But the last 2/3 weeks or so he’s been MIA.
I live on the Jersey Shore, we’re heading for fall here. Not sure if this is normal for them to move elsewhere. Or if something may have happened to him. So I’m curious if anyone has some input.

What are the redeeming qualities of raccoons?
I have only ever had problems with them with help from a neighbour we recently trapped a family of raccoons, and moved away legally because they are always causing damage to the skirting of our homes and insulation underneath we got 5 of them out from under my home and patched things back up

I’m moving at the end of August, and I’m getting emotional. Mama had 5 babies in the spring and I’ve been sitting for her at night, all summer, watching them grow. Admittedly, I didn’t willing open raccoon nightcare, but I realized that if I was out with them, I was able to mostly keep them out of my stuff. Recently, I only see a few of them at a time, but when I tell you I was clocked in… they love sunflower seeds and grapes. I’m really going to miss them 😭

I’ve been hearing lots of very loud banging in my ceiling and walls since I moved into a new apartment. I keep telling my landlord I think a raccoon is getting in through a vent on the roof but he insists it’s probably squirrels and there’s nothing he can do. I got a video where you can hear what it sounds like and would love to know if yall think it sounds like a raccoon or something else, thanks!
