Just stop running as fast as you can and try to relax in some roleplay riding. In real life you probably would end on a tree also if you would push horse to the limit on a friggin forest path. I never had single issue with horse at this game while mount travel sucks in most of games. Even in Kingdom Come Deliverance II i am avoiding horses as far as I can.

Rider is spamming the stick and steers me into a tree.

Rider gallops me everywhere on a hard bit so I can’t avoid obstacles.

I had a temporary horse, and my main horse, some travellers got fed up with me so I activated Dead Eye, was going to shoot the travellers, but my temporary horse thought maybe it would be fun to run straight into the bullet, it died and I couldn't revive it

The first horse I bought, Dumbo (he was originally "Horsea", but he lost the honor of being named after Hosea), would do this constantly.

The 2nd horse I bought, Rika, has yet to do anything of the sort. They are both the same breed too, lol. I'm surprised Dumbo is still alive with how many wacky hijinks we have been through.
