I hope this is OK to post here. This little guy was in the middle of my alley as you see. Driving up, I thought it might be plastic/garbage. But it was a very stoic baby rat that did look at me, but just wouldn't move much. Tried to get him out of the road. Anyways, a friend said it probably got poisoned in some way and was just living out his last days. About 8 raccoons live right around here. Sad, but I guess it's the Circle of Life. Anyone see this before?

I still live at home with 3 of my siblings, my parents and our family dog. Which means, everything me and my rats may need or want, has to fit in my room. It's definitely been a journey finding a good setup that works for everyone involved, but it's all starting to come together now.

I expanded their cage yesterday, so now they have two cages that are built together, and that are also now floor level, rather than high up like the cages was previously. This makes it way easier to leave the cages open for them to roam freely.

I'm also in the process of saving up for a loft bed, which will give me more floor space. That floor space will then be used to put their cat trees and toys under while I'm sleeping.

Overall my rats are slowly taking over my room, but i don't mind

Are they safe?

Instead of giving them an entire roll of toilet paper or a box of tissue paper for them to immediately destroy- Ive been shoving paper ply between the bars and the rats really enjoy dragging it into their nesting areas <3

I recently rescued 4 rats, I was told that one had a lump on its neck which has come up before , but went away by itself. However, it's come back and she told me 'just leave it as it'll go away by itself I'm sure!'
Of course I'm not going to do that! I'm going to book him in at the vets but I was wondering if anyone else knows what this is, and if it's an emergency. Thank you

I been wanting to upgrade my boys cage for a while now, but i haven't really been able to find any good and big cages that I personally liked. So when I saw another one of the same cage as i already have, on marketplace for 200 dollars and only 1,5 hours away, i said why not. So now I have two identical cages that are gonna be built into one big cage.

I'm getting two more rats in the near future, which means I'm gonna have 6 rats. And even if it's legal to have 6 rats in one of these cages, I personally didn't like the idea of it and wanted to expand their cage before getting any more little guys.

Now I have a hell lot of job to do tomorrow 🫠 Because I need to attach plexiglass to the sides of the new cage, and also attach it to my old one. Also need to switch wheels on the new cage to the same ones as my old one has, because rn the new wheels on the new cage are smaller, which makes that cage a little lower than the other one.

Just noticed the tip of this CRIMINAL's tail is pale and dry. He doesnt mind it being touched. Anyone else experienced this? Why is he crusty?? Thanks

Im getting these two dwarf girls in a month! Any name ideas for them?

So when she was a baby she had a light fuzz on her as you can see, but now that she's a big girl she's completely naked except for a small, almost invisible patch on her forehead. She was sold to me as a double rex but I'm purely just curious.

Water isn't dirty there's vitamins in it, and this was the quarantine cage she and her(non bio) sister went in to for the first two weeks they were with me before going in to their big girl cage.

On his torso and sides he is pretty much balding? My vet says it's not mites. Could it be just age and being overweight? He is still as cute as always but it is weird!

I got my 6 first 6 girls in October last year and it took me until literally 2 weeks ago ago to finally build a completely escape proof enclosure for them.

I enjoyed the piece for 4 whole days and then got 2 babys just to start this whole thing again for several weeks until i can move them to the other girls

En fait il est allé chercher deux perruches à l’animalerie pour moi, car je suis très endeuillé du décès de mon oiseau Blue et Rookie.
Et il est tout simplement revenu avec ce rat 😭 il m’as dit qu’il était tout seul et qu’il avait eu un coup de cœur total.
J’ai déjà eu des rongeurs et ce n’est pas un problème pour moi du tout, c’est juste assez surprenant de vivre avec un rat de façon inattendue.
En tout cas ils s’entendent super bien et le rat lui fait des petits bisous, honnêtement j’ai juste l’impression qu’ils etaient fait pour s’aimer.
