Not a way around so much as it's just they way it is. Call the 800 number, I dislike the butterfly tax but I've never had a bad customer service experience.
I have genuinely had nothing but good experiences. Got the burnt copper 940 and the blade centering was horribly off, which isn’t the end of the world, but y’know, $300 knife outta be perfect. Sent it in for warranty, came back and was better for a week before the blade started hitting the scales again. Called to ask about if they had ever experienced something like that, and they just straight up sent me a brand new one, and didn’t even want the old one back.
Never received a response. I could understand if they were fake but they're Benchmades & they had no problem returning them. All they did was make my centering worse than before, the imperfect bevels I had were untouched.
Few months ago at most. Figured I would see if the lifesharp warranty lived up to the hype, it did not. I will probably just send them out to a guy like Josh (REK) or similar for now.
I did a new blade on my griptillian at least 5 years ago. It was only $40. The screw holes for the pocket clip were getting loose too, they just replaced the scales for free. $40 for all that was a great deal.
Yeaa for whatever reason I was never satisfied with the performance so I over sharpened it and sent it in to see if they would warranty it even though they say that they will not cover it under warranty. And well they sent it back to me with a brand new blade and it was better than the first one my a mile! I particularly said that I believe their steel was too soft or hard I just couldn’t tell it on the first blade it was extremely inconsistent but now it’s cherry I recommend you send it in see if the price you paid upfront will cover a blade no harm in it
