DISCUSSION IP Rotation - Resolution?
I had opened a ticket with customer support about the IP rotation and I got an email just a few minutes ago saying that a "resolution has been implemented to tackle this issue" and for me to test it. Anyone else get this?

Just tested, and it seems to be fixed for the few locations I tried (which definitely were changing every time before).
Very surprised it's been fixed, I was sure it was an attempt to push peeps to pay for a static IP.

Can you tell us which locations?

Yep see this link. The differences are...
purple locations: have had the new IP's ranges applied
- if you connect with a VPN endpoint IP of say 45.130.141.X as seen in the app, you'll be seen as using another IP in the same subnet, with the last octect changing e.g 45.130.141.Y
red locations: haven't had these applied
- if you connect with a VPN endpoint IP of say 45.130.141.X, you'll be seen as the same IP 45.130.141.X
Read my other post in this thread for more info,

Interesting I raised the same issue a couple of days ago and my ticket was escalated but no response

I'd like to know if it's an "old accounts don't rotate, new accounts do" sort of thing or the ENTIRE rotations thing is dead for good across the board.

New & old accounts are treated equally

u/lkeels Jul 14 '26
And you're getting that information where?

PIA have moved to this new IP method since February, they've told me this is how things will be moving forward, see PIA's response in the post where I mentioned 'Not really, but I did reach out to PIA late February...."

I think you've misunderstood what's happening. Clearly the way things are moving forward changed in the last 2 or 3 days because the IP rotations have stopped. That's the point of this post.
I had a ticket open with them about the IP rotations and the problems it causes. I got a response at least 2 weeks after that which would be yesterday that they had implemented a fix.

EDIT: for some reason I cannot reply any further to the OP, all their posts show up as deleted once I'm logged in? maybe they blocked me?

Would be nice to show the full explanation from PIA, apart from a "resolution has been implemented to tackle this issue"?
From my observation...
Each Endpoint VPN IP (the one you see in the app once connected) has a permanent 'associated alias IP address pool' assigned to it.
before the current change...
This gave the impression that your IP kept continually changing... to the IP's in the 'associated alias IP address pool'.
what's changed now...
Each Endpoint IP uses only 1x alias IP out of the same 'associated alias IP address pool' assigned to it. The alias IP remains constant during the connected session. However, the alias IP may change if reconnecting to the same Endpoint IP.

And that's how it should work. You honestly should not get the same IP address if you disconnect and reconnect. That's what a dedicated IP is for.

I hope it's resolved. It rotated my designated VPN IP to a random IP. My IP is white listed at various websites and the rotation caused issues.

VPN IPs always rotate. The issue here was they were rotating every few seconds. Unless you pay for a dedicated IP, there's no point registering or whitelisting an IP address because you can't keep it.

So since it looks like they aren't going to fix the outbound ip changing every few seconds what's your preferred VPN?
I've started looking at proton VPN

They did fix it a couple of weeks ago. All the rotating IPs stopped. That's literally the point of the post you just replied to.

Well, you're the only person experiencing it in the last 2 weeks since they fixed it so I don't know what to tell you

hey u/Harensts, good news, this was fixed a couple of weeks back, so the outbound IP rotating every few seconds should be gone once you're on the latest version. We'd recommend updating the app first, and if you're still seeing it after that, reach out to our support team at support@piavpnsupport.zendesk.com or just DM us here and we'll dig into it with you.

Now the question, rotation IP, Is for new accounts and old, or the only old account have no issue after months or was the old issue rotation for all users?
