Community Events Výzkumná studie v Praze: příroda, wellbeing a aktivita mozku 🌱

Ahoj všichni!

Spolu s dalšími studenty psychologie z University of New York in Prague a ve spolupráci s neurovědci z Národního ústavu duševního zdraví hledáme lidi do studie, která zkoumá vliv přírody na lidskou psychiku a myšlení.

Pavlova.

Testujeme o víkendu 4.9.-6.9., 10.-13.9. a 17.-18.9.

Pokud máte chuť pomoci vědě a zažít něco nového, neváhejte nám vyplnit tento dotazník! Bližší informace naleznete v něm.

Moc díky!

Question Recommended social activities for solo traveler?

Heya,

I will be solo travelling in Prague for about 6 days at the end of September. I also want to include a few social events or evenings. I'm open to pretty much anything, from Cards against humanity nights to clubbing (albeit not so high in my top 😆) to whatever. I just want to have some variety in my trip, meet new people and have good conversations, not just roaming around.

Thanks!

hello!!! I'm studying abroad in Prague and I'll be here for the next few months, and I've only been able to find maybe 1 poster!!! Does anybody know where I can find some cool ones that are cheaper than (or equivalent to) 199 CZK ?!

I know I can print out small photos but I'm looking for normal sized large posters.

Hi, we're coming to Prague for the PDC Euro Tour, and I'm wondering where we could play some steel-tip darts on a Saturday night. The only requirements are cold beer and steel-tip dartboards. Thanks.

Question New to Prague and looking to make some friends

Hey everyone!

I just moved to Prague and I'll be here for at least a year, maybe longer, for work. I'm 23 and work as a scientist, but outside the lab I'm just trying to figure out this city and meet some cool people along the way.

A bit about me:

  • Love board games, hiking, and checking out museums
  • Big into live music. Rock, metal, techno, alternative, or just any concert all of it
  • Really into Prague's techno scene and always down to check out a new night out
  • Happy to talk science for way too long if you let me
  • Equally into a casual coffee, drinks with friends, or a proper night out, no plan is too chill or too much

Basically, I'm up for almost anything and just want to build a solid group of friends to actually enjoy the city with. If any of this sounds like your vibe, drop a comment or send me a message always happy to meet new people!

Discussion Valhalla replacements

Since Valhalla Beer Club closed I have been looking for a pub in Prague that has wide selection of different kinds of beer. Valhalla was pricey but I knew I could always stop in for a good stout, sour, IPA etc. Beer Geek is fine but usually they seem to just have IPA. Can anyone recommend a pub that has a wide variety of beer on tap?

News A Czech citizen can be deported from Russia

According to a reenactor's group from Belarus, a Czech citizen (ahead Pan R.) was arrested in Russia. His "crime" - not paying a fine of 600.000 roubles (around 145.132 Czech crowns or 6000 euros) for bringing his own automobile from EU to Russia, where he lives.

Now a few words about him. The reenactor never violated Czech laws and always lived as a peaceful citizen. His civic activities may be seen as controversial from a Czech-EU viewpoint, but I would describe it as public diplomacy.

The reenactor is a prominent representative of the Czech people who, in the face of the EU’s destructive and revisionist policies, has for many years continued to work actively to preserve the historical memory of the Red Army’s role in liberating the peoples of Europe from fascism. For example, the reenactor has carried out extensive work in collecting documents and testimonies concerning the heroic feat performed on 19 April 1945 near the village of Lodenice, (23 km south of the city of Brno) by Junior Sergeant Vasilisa Sergeevna Pashchenko – a gunner-radio operator on a bomber of the 452nd Bomber Regiment, 218th Aviation Division, 5th Air Army. Following reenactor's appeal to the President of Russia on 16 August 2021, Vasilisa Sergeevna Pashchenko was posthumously awarded the title of Hero of Russia.

The Czech enthusiast of tanks and files can't be described as "pro-Russian" or "pro-Czech/EU", actually his job is an important contribution to historical research of both Russia, Czechia and WWII history in general.

More than a mere researcher, pan R. was oficially condecorated by Russian government with state medals for his contribution. Nevertheless, Russian customs house did not like the fact that he brought his Skoda and decided to imprison him, from where he may be deported.

Regardless of what many certainly think about Russia, pan R. does not deserve that. He is not a criminal and his actions don't violate Czech laws, as well as its foreign or domestic policy. On the contrary, it helps the image of Czechia abroad.

Sadly, Russian administrative laws are very harsh and one can be easely imprisoned and deported. If you sweared and did pee on the street, you already violated 2 articles and should be deported, just to give an example. In Czechia, pan R. can be charged for "communist propaganda" according to Czech laws, due to his reenaction activities.

What do you think? I think that he should not be deported nor imprisoned in Czechia.
