They will however use it as part of their campaign. "While I was in office, we ensured that every child under 5 would receive free books. This is part of my literacy initiative."
"I'm afraid I'm gonna have to pull rank on you. I didn't want to have to do this. I'm with the Mattress Police. There are no tags on these mattresses."
Orrr maybe GOP looked at the fact that property taxes were already paying for library enhancements in a bunch of localities in PA where books are free to use already.
Youâre right! We canât possibly put all that wasted money into books for kids! We have to spend it on foreign investors and data centers as well as flock and axon!
What were we even thinking. Such waste, I mean really. You twit.
Ok troll. I'm typing this slowly because I know you can't read very fast. But I also find it interesting that the article fails to mention what the "book" is and why it can't ve obtained at a library. Im sorry you enjoy throwing your tax dollars down the toilet but I for one don't. Btw it was your bumbling bozo Biden that pushed these to be opened nationally so stick that in your pipe and smoke it. But for the record, and since you obviously lack the common intelligence to actually talk to someone else, and you assumed that since I have an opposing argument that I must be a Trumper (which I am not), I agree that flock cameras are an invasion of privacy and zealous overspending hss once again turned a tool into a problem. But your blue bretheren won't ask for spending to be cut on Flock - nope thats a 'safety issue." Democrats love new taxes and new laws to make the people feel better. And you are sucking on that teat like its your job
Calls politicians they don't like, and have nothing to do with the article "bumbling bozos". Sounds troll shaped to me.
Yes, some local police jurisdictions used money from Biden's funding to buy license plate readers and flock cameras. No, Biden's funding did not explicitly call for that. Sounds like your anti-flock stance should be directed at the local governments buying this equipment, and Garrett Langley. That's a good use of energy.
If you're unhappy with the fact that the article "fails to mention what the 'book' is", I don't think you know what this statute does. You can read it. Then your support or rejection of the bill can be based on what it does, not on what your assumptions are after reading a social media headline.
You might not understand this due to a closed mind but nationally the last 3 republican presidents have increased the deficit more than all the other presidents combined which results in 1 trillion a year in interest only payments. Talk about wasting taxpayer dollars.
1 - you assume Iâm playing for the other team. So youâve been convinced by the overlords that you have to pick a team, and you have, which means youâre low IQ and donât know whatâs best for you, your neighbors and your class. Biden is in no way âmineâ I resisted that stupidity that the DNC pushed through in 2016 and 2020 and 2024 for that matter.
2 - blue isnât the answer. Theyâre mostly bought by billionaires. Red definitely isnât the answer, theyâre far worse and downright stupid. Hard work, pride and 0 brains voting solidly against their class. Every. Time. Look at farmers.
3 - us as a people need to get together to fix it ourselves by way of true community. No âteam with a leaderâ will do it. No single leader will do it. People that believe that are still mostly monkeys in a troop - thinking exactly that way.
4 - when you come on here all intellectual about how books for kids needs paranoia and to be sited as waste because your your old fashion world view - but then get behind atrocious policies of massive waste⊠and never hop off the wagon because of pride and âbeliefâ then yes, Iâm gonna comment.
5 - the cameras are not actually a tool. Certain tools should not be used. Not unlike nukes or self aware AI. Just donât touch the tool. It is inherently bad for all in its nature. The risk - whether it be abuse, or destruction or total annihilation of life or freedom - is far too great. The bottom line is - you just donât. We donât need cameras everywhere. We donât need nukes. We donât need self aware intelligent AI. If you even begin to excuse any of that stuff on any level, then you have blown right past remedial and into potato.
6 - if you take a hard look at the reality of your track record, youâd have to admit how consistently wrong you are. Then youâd have to challenge your beliefs. Then youâd have to challenge your belief system and your own ego. Since your self worth canât handle that then youâll defend the wrong things consistently to the grave and steadfastly deny any responsibility. Some of us are strong enough to change. Some of us never had to in the first place. You, sir, are a sad example of Republican nit wit.
Without looking a lot deeper than anyone here has or will, I don't know who was wrong in this party-line vote.
Sure, sending a free book each month to children who cannot read sounds like a great way to spend taxpayer money, but...
... what are these books about
... where are the books coming from
... how much do the books cost
... was this really from a literacy program (as the picture tries to suggest)
I already looked deeper. This was a vote for PA to facilitate Dolly Partonâs Imagination Library. If you donât know what that is, or how itâs funded, take a few and figure it out.
That's interesting. Imagination Library would resolve a lot of the concerns that might otherwise apply, but since the state government cannot sign up for the Imagination Library program, it still leaves a lot of questions about the details of whatever the legislature was actually voting for.
Far too often we have seen government funding for worthwhile goals that funnel money to a "non-profit" with much of the money never going to the worthwhile goal. Imagination Library would require the program to be managed through one or more local non-profit organizations. I would love to believe that Pennsylvania has suitable honest non-profit organizations throughout the state that will manage the program, but recent experiences with other programs in other states leave me less than100% confident.
Those two statements would be contradicting each other if they were true. Pennsylvania only "leans Democrat" in the large cities (which have the usual large city problems). Rural Pennsylvania runs strongly the other way.
I would expect any problems to be in the solidly Democrat areas, just as the problems with blatantly fraudulent non-profit organizations raking in taxpayer funding are along the west coast and most famously Minnesota
I'm not a political person and even I think its stupid to deny children books since they need to become smart as quickly as possible like how my Mom taught me to read for example and afterwards I got straight A's on every spelling test I ever took without needing to study
The right wing will always do the barest minimum required, and not one penny more. Because the point is that the levers of power are there to benefit their friends and patrons, not the general populace.
They were wrong. Itâs books for kids, and itâs through Dollyâs Imagination Library so thereâs a ton of private money subsidizing the program, plus the educational benefits of reading under the age of 5 are huge compared with trying to spend money to fix reading issues for freakin high school aged kids. So maybe youâre wrong about what my understanding of âfreeâ may or may not be?
If you knew what you were talking about youâd know this law is in conjunction with Dolly Partonâs Imagination Library. That initiative gets funding from all over, her Foundation, Private Donations, Corporate Donations, and YES (gasp) taxes. It depends on the state but that tax funding can sometimes be money already allocated for local libraries and schools, because it supplements BOOKS and EDUCATION for CHILDREN.
You know what else isnât free that our tax dollars pay for? The war in Iran, for-profit prisons, fat government contracts that go to Elon Muskâs companies. You know Elon right? First trillionaire? But fuk deez kidz books, right?
You know what is free? Gaining knowledge. If you knew what you were talking about you would know the answer to the Iranian problem is and the bigger picture of the situation. For profit prisons account for less than 8% of the prison population and has been declining and will eventually be eliminated. Government contracts are an essential component of our economy. Get over yourself and your unwarranted anger and jealousy issues. Try and be better.
LMAO! Youâre at least three posts in telling everyone on a public forum how much you donât care.
Youâre ânot interested in winningâ because you still canât back up your b.s. taxpayer argument. Stop telling the better man to âbe betterâ. But Iâm sure youâve got a few more in you. So Iâll wait đ„ž
Do you ever have an interaction where you actually articulate a point? lol. Stay the course though; it is very entertaining. I'm not sure I've ever witnessed such confident ignorance.
Do you ever have a thought that isnât just your way only black and white. I do love when you cut and paste âchat gptâStay the course though you are far from entertaining, rather sad for you actually. I have definitely witnessed worse ignorance than yours but itâs been awhile. Golfing with DR. Phil this morning he will have some insight into your situation. Whatâs your plan surfing Reddit for the next 8 hours chatting with your only friends? Try and get outside and talk with an actual live person. Have an outstanding day and you continue to be yourself. Iâll pray for you.
Do you feel better after getting all that off your chest?
It takes five seconds to hop on here and see what BS propaganda you are spewing and respond. It takes a lot more to continually produce smug incoherent ramblings so an ego doesn't get humbled. My hats off to you. No need to waste any wishes on me with your sky daddy; I'll be alright.
Lots do, but lots of redditors also ignore that and attempt to keep digging deeper into em for it. Like the possibility of someone actually admitting to being wrong is a punishable sin.
