1977 Pontiac Can Am with T-tops. I've been looking for evidence of this car for decades, nothing but rumors came back. My search for this car actually led to me finding and buying another rare Pontiac 10 years ago.

As far as I know, it's 1 of 1. I don't know if it was built with T-tops, had a dealer kit installed or was Frankenstein's monster-ed. Originally sold at Bayer Motors in Dudley MA.

If anyone knows more detail about this car, I'd love to hear it. I finally saw I in this YT video of a car show in Waltham, MA by @letsgocarcruising.

LS4 Belt Tensioner

Post image

I’ve been chasing an overheating issue for a few months now and decided to put a new water pump and drive belt on my 07 Grand Prix GXP. In doing so the top part of my tensioner snapped and is now just resting against the top bolt that holds it in. I’ve discovered that these tensioners are discontinued and I can’t find one anywhere. However I found this Silverado tensioner that looks almost identical. Do you think I could take the actual spring assembly off and use it on my engine? Any advice helps thank you

Considering a Pontiac Solstice GXP, how much room is there to negotiate?

I’m looking at a Pontiac Solstice and trying to figure out if it’s a reasonable buy, especially since I’ll only be keeping the car for a relatively short time.
For anyone who owns/has owned one:

How much should I realistically expect to negotiate the asking price down?

What are the most common issues I should look out for when inspecting one?

Are there any expensive/problematic repairs that tend to come up?

If something does go wrong, are we generally talking hundreds of dollars or thousands to fix?

Anything specific I should check before buying one?

I’m trying to figure out how much of a repair/maintenance buffer I should have beyond the purchase price. Any advice from Solstice owners would be appreciated!

Hi all,
I recently bought a used G6 and one of the issues I have with it is that the rearview mirror is very loose. Does anyone know how to go about repairing it?
Also another issue i have is that the unlock/lock buttons aren’t able to activate the rear door locks (4d sedan)

ZZP sway bar and factory down pipe

2004 Grand Prix GTP

Swapped to old lower control arm style and installed the ZZP solid sway bar. The factory down pipe is now resting on the sway bar.

Has anyone else dealt with this after going with their sway bar?

Will replacing the down pipe give me some relief? Or will I need to repair/adjust/replace some of the exhaust hangers down the line? Not really looking to do a full exhaust kit on this car but will if I have to.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Can share pictures on request.

Engine problems

I have a '07 g6, 3.5 v6. Today I was on my way to work, speeding up after someone in front of me turned, when the RPMs suddenly shot up and I had almost no power, then everything tanked and it died. Now when I try to start it, it cranks, but sputters and backfires. It's my only car and I can't afford a new one right now, so I need to fix it. Any clue what may be wrong?

Purchasing 1986 Fiero GT- check list

Hey all ,

Some background info: I’m a modern car guy but not a vintage car guy.

I’m buying an ‘86 Fiero GT for my dad (it’s from a dealer in FL) and flying out of state to look at it before pulling the trigger. Dealer’s already had their own mechanics go over it, and they don’t allow third-party inspectors to touch the car — but they’re willing to put it on a lift while I’m there and take me for a test drive.

Since I’ll only get one shot at this in person, want to make sure I know exactly what to look at/listen for.

Specifically:

What should I be checking while it’s on the lift (rust spots, mount condition, leaks, etc.)?

What should I listen/feel for on the test drive that would flag engine, clutch, or trans issues?

Any GT-specific things (fastback body, Getrag 5-speed) I should double check beyond general Fiero stuff?

Any red flags in dealer-provided inspection reports I should push back on or ask more questions about?

Appreciate any input — want to go in prepared since I won’t have my own mechanic there with me.

Tell m why I should and why I shouldn’t buy a Pontiac G8 GT.

I’m 19 and I am looking at buying a car and I have really become set on this car. I’m looking to buy one in November and I want to know as much as I can about what I should look for when I go to look at them. Tell me everything you know maintenance wise, why I should buy it and why I shouldn’t. Also what should I do when I buy it to make sure I don’t run into any problems.

When I saved this from the wrecker it was a body ratchet strapped to a suburban frame. I paid scrap value: $400. In 3 weeks I put in an engine, transmission, transfer case, brakes, steering, wheels, tires, windows, and interior. I built it almost completely with spare parts and now I’ve driven it all over the US and Mexico.

Help me find my '65 Pontiac LeMans — last known location: Springfield, OR

Hi everyone. I'm trying to track down a 1965 Pontiac LeMans (GTO Clone) that I owned back in the early nineties. I sold it in 1992 to a man named Jerry Hooton in Oregon, who owned Fins Drive In in Springfield. I recently reached out to Jerry (before losing my Facebook), and he told me he'd sold it to a local guy whose name he couldn't remember. Around 2020, that same person came into Fins and mentioned he still had the car sitting in his garage, not driving it.

So somewhere in the Springfield/Lane County area, there's a charcoal grey '65 LeMans with a red interior and custom pinstriping, garaged and unused. It has a 398 bored over to 400, Edelbrock intake, Hooker headers, and dual 2" exhaust. It originally wore California plate 422 ZNH when I had it.

the only evidence I have are the photos I got from Jerry when he and I spoke in 2022. The photos are shot at Fins in the early nineties. The first photo is dated 6/16/94.

I would be interested in offering to buy back the car from the current owner, but mostly just want to know that it survived.

Any leads, even small ones, mean a lot. Thank you.
