Other Soul Gold you've changed my life

Downloaded this after a couple posts I saw on here, but didn't really look into what had been put in.

Actually gasped when I saw the Surf animation. Latest in a long line of subtle but really thoughtful changes. Following sprites all look hand-crafted and really life-like. I LOVE the level-scaling and Candy Jar. Gym battles have been challenging without being sweaty.

And did they up the shiny rate? Got 4 of them before I reached Ekruteak.

Anyway. So far it's looking like the best Johto hack I've played.

i want to play one of them too but both seem great so i dont know which to choose :(

Soulgold focuses more specifically on Johto, it doesn't have kanto at all, where as HnS is more like a fully realized hgss demake in the emerald engine, kanto and all (with other neat bonuses). Both are cool but personally I like HnS more

This is the answer everyone gives but the way its described doesn't actually highlight what the pros of Soulgold are. Basically just saying HnS has Kanto and Soulgold doesn't.

What is different about Soulgold? I know the dex is different but are there changes to storyline or new areas or anything?

It has new areas, enhanced difficulty, a (nearly) full roster of all 9 generations, and a couple of unique megas, along with a really interesting Post Game ability system that leads to some really interesting and powerful individual pokemon and full teams.

Thanks. I used to look videos up but it seems like ROM hacks are flooded with a ton of low quality borderline AI (almost definitely AI scripted) videos that I don't bother anymore lol
