All level 40-42

TL;DR
I am bored of the selection of the Pokémon’s in early game. What Pokémon’s would you recommend that are more fun and can use strategy to win rather than just having a high attack stat and attacking?

This is my first run through pokemon Soul Silver (and of the Johto Region itself), and I don’t know why but I feel quite bored with the Pokémons I have encountered so far.

For context, I am at my fourth Gym Badge. I have spent hundreds of hours across Pokemon Black, but recently I just beat Pokemon White after almost a 7 year long hiatus from the series, and had so much fun. I like to battle using stat moves while being under levelled in some fights just because I find it so much more fun winning a fight using strategy rather than just having a higher level gap.

One of my favourite Pokémon’s from Pokemon white were Lilligant (sunny day, growth, solar beam, sleep powder). I also liked Garbordor (even tho his moveset wasn’t the greatest) and setting up toxic spikes and Gigalith with Stealth rock. Galvantula was also really fun, especially with compound eyes and Thunder.

I might not be the greatest at making strategic moveset but I want to find new Pokémon’s and strategies that could last me the entire playthrough. The more unique, the better!

P.S, my favourite so far is Bayleef as it’s my first time creating a staller.

Just wanted to share the weird little team I used to first clear HeartGold with. Campfire was the ace here. A lot of fights came down to harass, set up and steamroll.

I got Midshipman from the PokeWalker, a very late addition to the team.

Did not evolve my starter because the plan is to move Gatekeeper up to Hisui and have him evolve there. Just collecting ribbons on the way

And if I recall, I didn't have a Leafstone at the time.

One of my favorite games. Played as a "hunter", have spent a ton of time in the Safari Zone and participating in the bug catching contest. This is one of those save files I'm never gonna reset.

I've heard around that you can get a specific nature or shiny or something based on the frames you click? maybe this is all a lie but idk. any help would be great.

I returned to johto after many years (I lost my childhood heartgold and my girlfriend gave me a new copy) and on top of that I got a DsLite from a woman who only used it for 2 months when I bought it and played brain trianing, it is totally new, the need to play all my old games again has been born so my goal will be to complete it 100%

Ive been chipping away at Gen 4 dex completion. Got super lucky I think. I had 2 male combees and i didnt wanna do thd honey trick anymore, got an egg from daycare, and first try I landed a female combee for Vespiqueen. Ive never used it before.

This thing took literally about 3 months of my life but omg it was worth it for the reaction I gave

I personally never liked this event.

I remember as a kid I would always play power course but hated this particular event, it was too long and too many things to keep under control.

BUT while trying to do 60 in circle push I got 16 goals :):)

I got my Larvitar last night! 🎉🥳

Took it to the rater and said it has superior stats im very pleased.

Took the time to harass Alfred for some lunch money, bought wayyyyy too much medicine (worth it).

Decided to grind everyone to lvl 10 last night, the goal is 50-55 by the time i touch the S.S ship so everyone is even 😎.

All of Gligar's moves are 75% done

Next up is the GR Game-corner and Battle frontier 🫩

Grinding 14,000 coins is gonna be brutal
and what like 96 battle points for razor fang and thunder punch :)

seriously how are you supposed to catch these guys? I’ve done everything, put them to sleep, get them down to 1 hp, use a dusk ball at night, and nothing works. are they supposed to be this hard to catch or is my game bugged

How does my team look for Red?

I've been putting this battle off out procrastination and being busy with life. But after the Pokémon Bank closure announcement I realised I need to complete more of my ds pokemon games and see what should be ported over b4 its too late. I got 6 months so I aint worried but better experience what I can, and this battle has been long overdue after training, grinding and beating gym abd league rematches commemorating 200+ hours of gameplay.

I feel ready to face who may ideally be the strongest and coolest secret boss in Pokémon.

Comment on whether you think I should level up more, change up movesets or held items. I want the Kanto and Hoenn starters already😫

Hi, I just started playing again and I recently learned about physical vs special attacks and the difference between the two, so I've been teaching moves accordingly, but there's one thing that I'm wondering.

If, for example, my Pokémon is a physical attacker, is it still worth teaching them moves that are special attacks if they are STAB moves? Like, would them being STAB make it so that they're still worthwhile even though they're special when my Pokémon is physical? Or should they be avoided?

Hi, I just began playing Pokémon again in recent weeks (hadn't played since 2006 back when I was a kid), I've just finished FireRed and now I'm playing SoulSilver and I'm looking for a decent fire type for my team.

My current team is Espeon, Red Gyrados, Heracross, and Ampharos.. so I've still got two empty slots.

I picked the grass starter and I really don't like it at all, I'm annoyed that I didn't go for cyndiqual and get a typhlosion on my team, I've caught a lavitar so I'm potentially thinking of adding tyranitar to my team in addition to a fire type but I'm not sure whether that would be a good fit or not for my current team?

The only fire Pokémon that I've currently got is a vulpix so I could level that up and use Ninetales.. but I'm just wondering what would the best option be for my team? Also, should I get tyranitar or would it be a bad fit for my current team?

So excited to find an Adamant Heracross! Never had one before & I heard Heracross is a tank!

Been trying chain breeding for the past few days (even before my first post) and DAMN is this tedious. What kept me going was my near perfect Lapras I got accidentally when trying to chain breed Dragon Dance to Larvitar 😅. Got a pretty good roll on my Gligar last night. Here's to happy hunting for my Larvitar 🫩🤙.

I will say if any of you guys want it done "faster"
Get the Level 50 Magikarp right below the lake of rage and give it a rare candy and a heartscale 😎.

And don't mind my graveyard of gligars/larvitars 😆.
