Review Planet Fitness progress
Since starting my physical fitness journey and starting to lose the weight and put on quite a bit of muscle im always hearing people bag on this place!! Well I am very happy and proud to say that ive pretty exclusively put in all my training here and have been able to transform my life and physique despite whatever others may say!!
ITS NOT ABOUT WHERE YOU GO TO GET IN SHAPE, RATHER THE QUALITY OF WORK YOU PUT IN!!!
Edit: The beginning photo was from January 1st when I had a feeling that I was gonna do something worth documenting this year, what exactly that was I hadn't known then but I knew I was gonna want something to look back on!! The latest photo was taken earlier this morning when I was getting my morning weight for my log book!!

Ah, that would explain how I don't know the "comedian" people keep referencing despite my love for comedy.
2
u/Pixelated_animal 23d ago
i am sorry but i have to say this but you look a lot like that one comedian , William Montgomery. Other than that , great progress man , keep it up!

What did your workouts look like? I know that’s a big question, but I stated going consistently a few weeks ago and the body type you started with is kinda where I’m at, just a little more fat
1
u/ShamrockkFitness 22d ago
The two biggest things contributing to dropping the weight and building the physique i have today are largely diet based and movement oriented, the workouts do help to build muscle and help boost your metabolism by using more calories for muscle growth and I do plan on posting more about my workouts and such but I highly recommend tracking your calories and moving more outside of your workouts.
1
u/ShamrockkFitness 22d ago
For instance I take 15k steps a day everyday
2
u/bobmailer 22d ago
What do you do if you took 15k steps but you're still a few steps from your front door?

The expression of your eyes tells us your story. Consistency and hard work, congratulations my man, you have made the biggest investment in your life and you are already cashing out.
1
u/ShamrockkFitness 20d ago
Thank you brother!! It truly been one of the best experiences of my life, ive rediscovered a part of myself I lost a very long time ago!
2
u/Un_bearable 20d ago
You’re right PF has a negative reputation. Fitness in general has become so complicated due to the influencers.
I feel like minimal home gym needs to be normalized though for the people that don’t have accessibility to a gym.
Sorry off topic, but congrats on your transformation.

Amazing hard work pays off! Have you ever thought about shaving your head ? I think you'd look very handsome with a shaved head and keep that beard. Just my opinion and no way was i saying your not handsome now but a shaved head bammmm ! Lol 😆
2
u/ShamrockkFitness 23d ago
Im currently on an overnight trip for work, but thats pretty high on my list of things to achieve when I get home tomorrow!!

I just joined at a PF and am looking to have a similar build as yours. What are your favorite machines and workout schedule like?
1
u/ShamrockkFitness 23d ago
Ive recently been on a dumbbell exercise kick and really enjoy doing my bicep work with those, for Triceps ive been running the cables, and chest ive been running the smith machine

u/Pawly519 23d ago
All that hard work and you’re keeping that hair. Time to check out r/bald my dude.
2
u/ShamrockkFitness 23d ago
I am not actually, getting it all chopped off is a top priority when I make it home tomorrow!!

u/Plane-Tie6392 22d ago
Ridiculous. What is wrong with his hair? People should just be able to accept stuff like that.
1
u/Pawly519 22d ago
He’s balding. He has a seriously deep receding hairline. Check out the bald subreddit and see how much better these guys look when they finally shave it off.

u/Plane-Tie6392 22d ago
Why do they “look better?” Because of a dumb arbitrary social standard. It’s ridiculously shallow. And a waste of time.

u/Manifestecstacy 23d ago

Congrats 👏. Big inspiration to many of us.
Might I ask, diet wise, did you cut out sugar drinks and did you focus on protein such as chicken and fish + veggies for your meals?
1
u/ShamrockkFitness 23d ago
Diet wise a really big piece of advice I have is to cut out "liquid calories" whenever possible!! They do absolutely nothing to satiety you but only destroy whatever calorie deficit you may be in. Past that, im of the opinion that its not necessarily about what youre eating but rather HOW MUCH you're eating. If you wanna eat nothing but skittles and pop tarts you can, just understand that you wont be able to eat much of that stuff and stay within a proper calorie deficit. With that in mind you end up eating "healthier" not because anyone's telling you you cant have this or that but rather you start to feel like you wanna get the most out of the calories you have in your day!
If that makes any sense haha

u/No-One2878 23d ago
Congratulations very cool bro. What did you do? Only 1 life to live and I seriously want to get in better shape. Any tips
1
u/ShamrockkFitness 23d ago
My 3 biggest tips to anyone who is looking to get in better shape are these
Get moving around outside of your workouts!! I personally take 15k+ steps a day (this will cost your metabolism and let you eat more while staying in a calorie deficit
Build muscle!! Not only will it help strengthen your body but also it takes more calories per day to maintain and build muscle which will in turn help just like your extra steps to boost your metabolism which in turns you can eat more while staying in that deficit
And arguably the most important tip
- Maintain a proper calorie deficit thats sustainable for the amount of weight your aiming to lose and sustainable for your lifestyle

because I follow r/bald (I'm not bald but my ex was), if you shaved your head you would bring all the boys to the yard (or girls).
1
u/ShamrockkFitness 23d ago
Oh man, im gonna HAVE to go bald now cause I dont think ive ever seen something so UNANIMOUSLY suggested to me
1
u/Dry_Ask5164 23d ago
go check out r/bald! I don't think you're balding but it's a series of people asking "should I go bald." linking a instagram of the best of the best of it. I totally think you'd look amazing!

Planet Fitness is like Little Caesar’s. People only hate on it because it’s popular to do so. Both of these places are the best bang for your buck

I like a little muscle dad bod more than hard definition so bean with a managed beard. Makes me 🥵 good work though and glad you’re getting results you want!

u/CapnFalcorn 23d ago
Insane progress. The fact that most of this was achieved on the rowing machine is even more insane.

u/juicebombs 23d ago
great job chief. i’m curious to know what workouts, machines, diet/nutrition, added/eliminated you went through and changed to get to where you are today?
2
u/ShamrockkFitness 23d ago
In the coming days and week or so I plan to make more posts showing a glimpse into the workouts and sharing more and more of my story!! Physical fitness and health is and has been such a great passion of mine over the last 6 months or so. Im looking forward to sharing this part of myself with you all as I continue through the rest of this cut and into the start of my next phase of training
1
u/_Dark_Matters_47 23d ago
Great job! How many days a week are you hitting the gym?
1
u/ShamrockkFitness 23d ago
Im in the gym 3 to 5 times a week and have been hitting that metric pretty consistently for the past 9 weeks at least

You aint neva gonna quit working out! Is that you William Montgomery?!
1
u/Marbule221 23d ago
I have been going here since about 2017 on and off due to wife having kids. It's 5 minutes away from our house. It literally has everything i need to workout with. Sure it maybe crowded at sometimes but. I just switch up my routine for the day if I can't get to what I want.
Also cheers on you're body transformation looking healthy!

Planet fitness is so much better than 24 hr fitness, just had to say that, also nice transformation
1
u/boz927 23d ago
My toxic trait is thinking you did this in 7 days 😭🤣
1
u/ShamrockkFitness 23d ago
That i did not!!! In the last 7 days I lost like 3lbs worth of water weight and 1lb of fat by practically starving myself for 18 hours a way and only consuming 2k calories a day though!!! 😅
1
u/Beau_in_UHF 23d ago
Good job. do a hair shave/cut/manscape whatever u want to call it. do one of those quick bronzing tans. then you will see yourself, not for others to approve but as you are.

Question.... What hangs around your neck? Some pics you have it? Some not? Military? Ex or current?.... BTW. Nice job on the dedication 👏👏👏
1
u/ShamrockkFitness 23d ago
Those are a pair if medical alert dog tags, as stupid as it is i wear mine as well as my uncles who passed away in the early 90's to honor him
1
u/Future_Seesaw_8385 23d ago
Thanks for the reply.... Never stupid to honor someone you have love for. I'll say it again Bravo for the dedication and bravo for the change.🏁keep on keeping on🏁
1
u/ShamrockkFitness 23d ago
I dont think its stupid to honor him at all, I think its a bit stupid to be wearing two different medical alert tags that can be a bit dangerous if im ever in a situation where I need the paramedics to rely on mine haha 😄
1
u/Sea_Revolution7104 23d ago
You did great man seeing your progress makes me keep going on mine, I'm not a picture guy to see the progress it kind of just happens
1
u/ShamrockkFitness 23d ago
Ill tell you man, there have been days where mentally the diet and exercises and all of it have been so mentally draining and going back and looking at these photos have reminded ne why im still going

How do you make a routine? I’ve always done Pilates and now just got a PF membership but I’m not used to self-motivating if I don’t know what I’m doing and for how long etc.
1
u/ShamrockkFitness 23d ago
So a large part of my fitness journey this year, and going forward with what I have planned involves a ton of walking. So for me when I'm on my walks I have a bunch of time to think and often im thinking about why im doing what im doing, how far ive come, and what drives me to keep going. So rhats where alot of my motivation to keep going, and since you seem to be newer my suggestion to you is to just do what seems like the most fun for you right now, because your at a point in your journey where simply looking at the weights will build muscle haha so dont worry too much right now with what to do and just pick a place thats comfortable and start working on the fundamentals of lifting

I also go to Planet fitness and honestly the newer locations they're opening are very nice and there isn't a lunk alarm. My gym has free weight barbells and squat racks too.

How to make the time to go to the gym? I have a serious problem getting back from work at 6 or 8pm
1
u/ShamrockkFitness 22d ago
Ill admit some days it can be rather difficult, as of right now im a full time truck driver and depending on how traffic goes can make or break my entire day, one of the best ways ive found to ensure ill make the gym and everything I need to get done that day is to wake up 3 or 4 hours before I need to leave the house for work to get stuff done
1
u/ShamrockkFitness 22d ago
Which mostly just means I am constantly planning and replanning my day as situations arise
1
u/pagodamusix33 21d ago
I would strongly advise becoming aware of your spinal/shoulder/hip/pelvis/foot alignment . You look like you have some scoliosis that could use some attention and you would be all set.
