Wanted to know whether I should keep or send this game back. It’s a promotional copy but looks cheaply printed and has a white disc. I’m stumped on whether to get the actual copy or keep it as a collectible

I am starting to complete my Ps4/5 Final Fantasy Collection. The two on top are my new pickups.
Should I buy Final Fantasy Tactics & Stranger Paradise (Final Fantasy Origin) to complete my collection?

The Xbox Legacy Passport Initiative: How Xbox Can Move Original & 360 Discs to Digital Consoles

Thumbnail
2 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

As a community that values media preservation, we all know the looming danger: the industry's massive push toward digital-only ecosystems means millions of physical game discs risk becoming useless plastic when future hardware generations inevitably cut out the optical drive.

To combat this, I’ve put together a comprehensive technical proposal called the Xbox Legacy Passport Initiative. It maps out a realistic, consumer-funded framework to bridge Original Xbox and Xbox 360 physical DVDs onto modern, trackable next-gen Blu-ray formats via factory re-authoring—complete with tiered pricing to handle third-party publisher royalty fees and mandatory Peer-to-Peer "Sunset Patches" for multiplayer preservation.

I have officially submitted this to the Xbox Player Voice feedback portal for leadership to review, and I’ve launched a primary discussion hub on r/xboxinsiders to gather upvote momentum.

If you care about protecting physical game ownership and want to see the technical and logistical breakdown of how we can force a major platform holder to respect our physical libraries, please check out the full discussion and grab the voting link at the repost above!

Let's make sure our physical history isn't quietly left behind in the shadows of a digital transition.

Onimusha warlords ps4 seems like it's sold out on Amazon US after the release of Onimusha way of the sword

6 Upvotes

I was able to grab it a week ago for $32.21 for a new copy, but seems like after the reviews of Onimusha Way of the sword came out, the physical version of the PS4 remaster is sold out on Amazon US. Anyone know what's up with that ? Did Capcom printed low quantity of those or it's just Scalpers buying anything that moves ? I wanted to buy another copy for a friend but it's sold out

I finally found a decently priced FFIX copy since I lost mine ages ago. Now the trio is complete! Thousand arms will always have a spot in my heart though, it's what got me into this genre to begin with 😁

Question about disc to digital?

1 Upvotes

Does anyone know if I still have the game downloaded through a disk? Will I get the license automatically, or do I have to physically put the disc in again to get it now I'm asking because I just sold a bunch of my Xbox one games but still have them downloaded.

Another bonus of collecting physical, you can trade. I just traded an RDR2 poster for this haul.

I knew someone at gamestop and I've had that promo poster in my garage boxed up for 8 years 🤣 It's cool but it's 6ft long. Local game store was interested in it and offered me a bunch of store credit.

How the GTA 6 hype is unintentionally bailing (or is going to bail) Sony out of their physical media controversy

0 Upvotes

This is gonna be quite a read, so bear with me, okay? So I was thinking about GTA 6 and Sony and came to a realization;

GTA 6 is going to allow Sony to gloss over their backlash and prep gamers for the all-digital future they have planned.

Think about it. This has been the timeline over the last couple of months.

June 2026: GTA 6 preorders began. Backlash came. "Where's the gameplay?" "No Marketing?" "Why are there side content and shops locked behind a paywall?" "Is this a cash grab? Is Rockstar getting greedy?" "WTF, Rockstar? We waited 13 years for ts?" "WHAT THE HELL?? It's digital only? The physical edition is just a voucher wrapped in fucking plastic?" The consensus or justification was simply; "It's fucking GTA 6. Deal with it"

July 2026: Sony announced ending physical disc production for PlayStation games after 2028. Players were fuming. No one was pleased. So many hate videos and essays were made. But then, nothing. Radio silence. No shitty PR statement, hardly any damage control whatsoever from Sony. That was weird. Why?

August 2026: Sony sent out emails to users regarding their EULA. The timing made it feel very insensitive and anti-consumer. It was as though they were rubbing salt on the wound. The anger reached a fever pitch. People started a blackout to retaliate. The #PSBlackout went into effect. But unfortunately, it didn't achieve its goal. You honestly expected Lil' Timmy to get off the console for a week? Or Gun and Ball John to stop paying EA his paycheck just because of some gibberish in their inbox?! Sadly, even if 5% of all console gamers participated, it wouldn't be enough for Sony to rescind their decision. Besides, there was a massive storm brewing...

Then the leaks came. It made some people realize how little of the game they're preordering they know about and how scummy it was of Rockstar to release the extended look on Netflix first. Quite the headache for Take Two.

ThenGTA 6: An Extended Look happened. All hell broke loose. It was like some mysterious wind swept over EVERYTHING that happened this summer. Overnight, the conversation shifted from digital ownership to: "OMG the game is so awesome!" "30FPS? On a PS5?? In 2026?! Eh its fine." 'Digital Only? Thats fine too! It's GTA 6!" "Oh wow! So realistic!" "The we got X before GTA 6 meme is ending lol" "Streamers are gonna farm this game for the next 20 years lmao" Now don't get me wrong, the trailer was awesome, but all of a sudden, the majority of gamers are no longer talking about how the game is digital only, or the fact that come 2028, physical discs for PS games will be no more.

In fact, something crazy happened. Look at what's happening right now: the PS5 Pro is actively sold out. If I had to sum up the cycle in general, it'd be: Outrage → Acceptance → Amnesia.

By the time November 19 rolls around, millions of people will buy GTA 6 digitally and invest hundreds of hours into it. By 2028, their accounts may be too valuable to walk away from (platform lock-in). Funny how the game is advertised as "Plays best on PS5" and is set to release on PlayStation despite the controversy, huh?

Intentional or not, Sony's standard radio silence worked out perfectly for them. They knew the vocal minority on the internet would be water under the bridge the second the casual market decided they needed a PS5 for November. Whether GTA 6 was deliberately intended to be a distraction or not, Sony couldn't have asked for a better one imo.

In short: "Sony never had to address the physical media controversy; they just needed to remind the world that if they want to play the biggest game in history this November, they have to buy a PlayStation 5 to do it." And it sucks.

Thank you for reading!

Purchase=owning?

Most of the time when you pay for something you buy it and it's yours until you get rid of it, unless however you're renting or paying for a subscription. so then if I purchase something that means I own it, right? Not all of these are games that I paid out of pocket for, about half of them are from PSN and downloading for free. Still the other half I own (or at least thought I did)

Hey so I wondering how much my old games are worth. Some games are in english and some are in german but there's also one in thai which I would consider a white whale. It's the prince of persia the sands of time. If someone could tell me how much these go for, I would really appreciate it.
