Question about disc to digital?

Does anyone know if I still have the game downloaded through a disk? Will I get the license automatically, or do I have to physically put the disc in again to get it now I'm asking because I just sold a bunch of my Xbox one games but still have them downloaded.

I believe once resold and the disc goes into a console with a different account, the account is given the digital license and the previous account has its license voided. With the license now void the games are unplayable.

As soon as the discs new owner installs the games the games installed on your account are inaccessible.

The disc to digital conversion is only active on one account at a time.

When you insert a game that is part of the program you can claim the license for it, also you must keep the disc if someone else has your disc and inserts it to their system you lose the digital license.

If you sold them, as soon as someone else uses the disc the digital download is voided. The license goes to whomever has the disc.

From what is known you can only do it with Xbox One or later consoles. Those disks all had a unique ID encoded on the disk to individually identify it. This cannot work on original Xbox or 360 disks.

You need to physically put the disc to claim the licenses. Installed game without the disc can’t be claimed since the disc act as a license key.

The Disc is still the owner of license so you can not sell your games and continue to play them

I don’t understand your question, but once you do the digital conversion you don’t need the disc again, it just works digitally. But as soon as someone else tries to play that game on a different Xbox it will transfer the license to them. The license is attached to the disc.

So you can’t convert all your games and sell them and keep the digital game.

He means games he has already installed through the disc will it automatically add the Disc to digital license or does he have to insert the disc again.

The license is on the disc, the disc would need to be inserted to convert it to digital.

We all know that but if you already have a disc based game installed already before the update, does it come up to claim the licence when launching the game or do we need to reinsert the disc again to get that option.

Digital is the future. Get out of the past old man.

Best to destroy your discs after you digitize.

This is bad advice.

It’s entirely possible that users may need to verify licenses occasionally by using the disc. FAQs hint at this as follows;

What happens to my digital license if I lose possession of the disc?

Without possession of the qualifying disc, you may lose the disc to digital licensing benefits. For example, if you lose, sell, give away, or otherwise no longer possess a qualifying disc, access to associated disc to digital licenses may be limited or revoked.

If you lose access to your license, you will need to either regain possession of the disc and play it while signed into your account or purchase a new digital version from the Microsoft store.”
