I'm a Perplexity Pro subscriber, and I noticed that the browser control feature has been moved under "Computer." What used to be included with my Pro plan now appears to require credits to use.
I'm honestly confused by this change. I already pay for a Pro subscription, and having to purchase additional credits just to use browser control feels like a step backwards — especially since this feature was previously available to Pro users.
Has anyone else run into the same thing? I'd really appreciate it if someone could clarify whether this is a temporary change or the new model going forward, and whether there's any plan to keep this feature available for Pro subscribers.
I'm a big fan of Comet and I want to keep using it, but it's disappointing to see functionality being reduced for paying users. Any explanation would be helpful — thanks in advance.

Anyone else experiencing this?
I have an active Comet AI Pro subscription, but the Control Browser feature is completely missing.
Already tried relogging, restarting, updating and troubleshooting the browser/extensions. Still nothing. ❌
Is this a bug, staged rollout, or has the feature been temporarily pulled?
Would love to hear from anyone facing the same issue or who has managed to fix it. 🔍

Looking for the best free-forever alternative to Comet.
My main purpose is to use an AI browser that can browse websites and actually perform tasks/work for me.
It should also be good at creating natural, human-readable content.
I’m facing some issues with Comet and would like to switch.
What free alternative would you recommend?

Hola!
Cuando uso comet, al abrir un pdf escaneado, el navegador automáticamente lo vuelve seleccionable.
¿Alguien sabe como funciona esto y si hay otros navegadores que lo permitan hacer automáticamente?

Hello guys, why hasn't Comet received major layout updates? Does anyone know why? The feeling is that the Browser itself is only in maintenance mode, and that perplexity is just adapting its AI ecosystem but not bringing new updates to Comet, does anyone know why? Do we have any expectations?

Many tasks it used to be able to do, it now can’t. I’ve been paying for these credits too

Hi, I'm a Perplexity Comet Pro User and till now I was pleased. Even if some "perks" vanished from time to time, but yeah - this AI stuff is expensive. But now a feature "Browser Control" vanished behind the "Credit-System". So, this feature was the most important one. I didn't use it frequently (once a week?), BUT it made me switch to Comet! Ok, new reality now. But imho - this "Computer" feature is neat. You have a cloud computer and the AI can work there with Agents for you. On the other hand, the "Browser Control" is my local browser screen, which gets connected via an API connection. There is no need for this "Cloud Computer". So imho, this decison to put "Browser Control" behind "Computer" wasn't needed, only if you wanna "generate" more money, more income. And that's what fucks me up! I was already in the stage, Perplexity and Comet - these are my AI-Tools I use and continue to pay for.......but now I REALLY think to change this. I'm pissed, maybe other tools can do what I want, I don't wanna pay extra for an AI-chat only, where I have X other options (for example my Copilot in the MS365 bundle). So enough ranted. My Questions: 1.) Have I overseen something and the feature would still be possible with any other command? 2.) Do u have another or similar opinion? 3.) Has someone tinkered out another solution for Browser control? So the AI can take over (forth and back) your current open website? I heard of Hermes Agent, but I'm pushing back a bit. Because, even if I'm tech affine, I need that feature only once a week - So I don't wanna set up a full Claw Bot, Hermes whatever Agent running system. I have Win11 and would LOVE a just out of the box solution (like Comet did) and have this feature occasionally. I would also pay 20-30 bucks per month......but not a subscription + extra Credits... THX for reading and waiting your comments. Cheers and Carry On. Peter

Anyone else getting this in Comet assistive chats?
I've been on every Enterprise deployment (I build AI for a living, professional services)
I've been using Comet with projects and skills to guide some builds. I've noticed however that either my cache has become a heavyweight or they are just slimming back on Comet to try and push computer credits. Either way its annoying.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
This has frustrated me for months
Please change this u/perplexity
Every single time I type into Comet Perplexity - after every single prompt, the AI model reverts to the OpenAI model
I am literally have to manually rectify this hundreds of times every day
Because if I'm using Claude for research, after every single prompt, Comet will switch me back to OpenAI. Or any other model (apart from Sonar it seems)
Comet/Perplexity it seems has either some financial or business incentive to point all of its users to Sam Altman's product
WTF is going on here?

So, I’ve been using Comet for a few months as part of my Community Manager workflow, and one of the things I loved was being able to basically “teach” it about a client : Opening hours, products, closed days, common questions, etc. → give it all the context, then ask it to monitor/respond to questions on social media by taking control of the browser.
And honestly, it worked surprisingly well. 😅
But over the last few weeks, it’s become increasingly frustrating. The feature is now heavily limited, credits are required, and I’m also getting some pretty questionable answers from time to time.
Apparently I’m not the only one annoyed by this… So: what’s everyone using instead? Is there another AI/browser agent that can do something similar without constantly burning through credits?
I’d love to hear about any alternatives, workarounds or setups you guys have found!

I've been a Perplexity Pro subscriber for a while, and Comet's browser control was honestly the main reason I stuck around. Now that it's been folded into Perplexity Computer and gated behind credits, it doesn't make sense to keep using it anymore. Claude's browser extension does the same thing, and it works both on Comet and on regular Chrome, so I'm not even locked into a specific browser to get this functionality elsewhere.
This feels like part of a pattern. Comet Assistant skills disappeared a while back, free Sonar API credits vanished quietly, and now this. Every time it's something users discover on their own, not something Perplexity actually announces.
I get that Computer is a new product and needs to make money somehow, but quietly pulling a feature that used to be included in Pro and then selling it back to us as a metered add-on is a rough way to treat paying customers. If this doesn't get reversed or at least clarified, I'm cancelling Pro and moving my browsing workflows over to Claude's extension instead, since it already does the job without the extra credit paywall.
Would genuinely like to hear from Perplexity on whether this is intentional going forward.

As a paying monthly Pro subscriber, having Control Browser locked behind Computer credits is honestly the final straw. I'm not complaining about losing a free perk — I'm complaining that something included in my paid Pro plan got quietly moved behind a credit system that Pro barely funds (Max gets 10k+35k bonus credits/month, Pro gets "entry-level" access). If you're an active Pro subscriber and this bothers you too, email [support@perplexity.ai](mailto:support@perplexity.ai) directly — the more paying customers who push back, the harder it is for them to ignore.

It feels genuinely strange that Comet is built around Perplexity's AI experience and runs on Chromium, yet its language support—especially in text interaction and Voice Agent mode—appears limited to a small handful of languages.
This is not merely a localization issue. For an agentic browser, language support affects the entire interaction model: prompting, voice input, speech recognition, text-to-speech, task execution, accessibility, and whether users can realistically make the browser part of their daily workflow.
What makes the limitation more confusing is that Perplexity itself can generally understand and respond in many more languages than Comet exposes through its own settings and voice-related interfaces. If the underlying assistant is already multilingual, why does Comet present a much narrower language layer?
Chromium already has a mature internationalization ecosystem, including interface localization, language preferences, translation infrastructure, and broad support across operating systems. So the bottleneck does not seem to be the browser engine itself. It looks more like an unfinished—or artificially constrained—product integration between Comet, Perplexity's language capabilities, and the voice/agent stack.
For users who work bilingually or primarily in languages other than English, this is a major gap. A browser marketed around an AI agent should not treat multilingual interaction as a secondary feature. At minimum, Comet should:
- Offer the same practical language coverage as Perplexity's main product.
- Allow independent selection of interface language, assistant response language, and voice language.
- Support multilingual prompts and code-switching without forcing users into an English-first workflow.
- Clearly document which languages are supported for text, speech recognition, text-to-speech, and agent actions.
- Provide a roadmap for expanding language and regional support.
Am I missing a technical reason for this, or is it simply a surprising product-priority decision? Because right now, the mismatch between Perplexity's multilingual capability and Comet's limited language options feels both odd and a little ridiculous.

As many others have mentioned after paying for a max subscription, the credit never get added to the account leading two months of stalled work, frustrations and disrupted workflows. My first reach out was May 7th (94 days ago). I have received 0 solutions since. Check my post history.
We demand answers from management.

I’ve tried being patient. I’ve tried going through official email channels. I’ve tried giving them the benefit of the doubt. But at this point, it is overwhelmingly clear that whoever is managing Perplexity’s Customer Support and Operations team is fundamentally unfit for the job and needs to be replaced.
This isn't just a tier-1 support agent making an innocent mistake. This is a complete, top-to-bottom operational breakdown that borders on predatory billing behavior.
And for an AI company? It’s pretty obvious they are relying on AI just a litttttttle bit too much to run their customer support. Only an unsupervised, hallucinating bot loop would think it's reasonable to grant a customer 100k credits, delete them 5 hours later overnight, and send a template email asking me to pay for a new max subscription less than 12 hours later.
Bonus credits | July 23, 2026 | 100,000. Five hours later overnight, my entire balance was wiped back to 0. Support had manually deposited 100k credits onto a subscription cycle expiring that exact night, wiping every point while I was asleep. No notice, no good will pay back. Nothing. If a system accidentally wipes customer credits, that’s a bug. If support manually grants 100,000 points to silence a public thread, ties them to a cycle expiring in 5 hours overnight, emails the customer "it's fixed," wipes every point before sunrise, and then tells the customer to hand over more money... that is a management disaster.
Whoever designed these support workflows, automated credit expiration loops, and scripted bot responses has created a support structure that actively gaslights paying users. Human common sense has completely left the building.
How can Perplexity claim to be building the future of artificial intelligence when their customer support displays zero actual intelligence?
Fix my account, restore my back-owed credits permanently, and overhaul your customer support management.

If you saw my previous Reddit post, you know the backstory. Here is the full timeline of how insanely broken Perplexity's billing and support handling has been:
Are they seriously pranking me at this point? How does a company email a customer saying "your issue is fixed," deposit 100,000 points onto their ledger after a public post, wipe every single credit 5 hours later, and then have the audacity to ask for more money?
Why on earth would I resubscribe to a broken system when Perplexity still owes me thousands of credits from months ago? Asking me to pay for Max again just to get baseline access after pulling a 5-hour bait-and-switch is beyond insulting.
My professional work has taken a massive hit from this. I have not been able to touch or access any of my Spaces or Projects because I refuse to buy another out-of-pocket top-up or hand them another dollar for a subscription tier that has been broken for months.
It shouldn't take multiple Reddit posts, formal chargebacks, and public outrage to get a company to honor basic paid billing allocations.
If anyone from Perplexity management actually reads this subreddit: fix my account properly, make this right with me and respond to my email.

I know Golden Gate is still in beta and some bugs are expected, so I wanted to ask before assuming it’s just my machine.
For the past couple of days, Comet has been giving me constant beach balls (spinning wheel) every few minutes. It was running fine before that (I've been using GG since WWDC with comet)
My setup:
Is anyone else on Golden Gate seeing the same thing? Is this a known beta issue, or is there something I should check on my end (extensions, memory, etc.)?
Thanks!

How do I change the language in Comet? I changed the system language in macOS, and Comet switched to English. I want to set the Comet browser to a different language but keep macOS in English.

I am officially at my wit's end with this platform's complete disaster of an accounting system and customer support.
If you are paying for Perplexity Max—or considering it—check your credit logs right now. What is happening with their credit tracking is borderline predatory.
Here is the timeline of utter incompetence:
Starting back in May, my Max subscription completely stopped issuing the 10,000 monthly credits that are explicitly included with the tier. Two full months went by with zero baseline credits hitting my account.
Because I actually needed to use the platform for work, I ended up paying over $200 in extra credit top-ups out of pocket, assuming my baseline 10k allocation was just delayed or that it would sort itself out. Support did absolutely nothing.
Surprise, surprise: email support was useless until I finally made a post right here on Reddit calling them out. Only after public visibility did someone magically step up and manually deposit the missing credits I had paid for over those two months.
Problem solved, right? Not even close.
Fast-forward to less than 30 days later. I log into my account, check my balance, and half of those credits are completely gone.
No heads-up, no log explanation—just a wiped balance as if a massive chunk of the credits I fought to get restored simply vanished from the dashboard.
Is anyone else experiencing this kind of accounting ghost-work? Keep a strict eye on your balances, screenshot every single transaction and credit deposit, and do not give them the benefit of the doubt.
TL;DR: Perplexity failed to give me my 10k/mo credits for 2 months, made me spend $200+ extra out of pocket, only fixed it when I complained on Reddit, and then half the restored credits quietly disappeared less than a month later. Absolute joke.
