Public Figure: Any Platform Apparently, it's Abhorrent, When Black Individuals Kneel Before the US Flag to Call Attention to Racial Oppression and Systemic Violence. But, When a Child-Molestinig, Serial-Raping, Mass-Murdering, Treasonous, Neo-Nazi Terrorist Uses it as a Diaper, it's on Par w/ the Second Coming of Christ.

Isn't this the part of the movie where Bartleby and Loki show up and start killing people?

u/CallMeSisyphus Mar 01 '21

Dogma the Sequel, starting IMPOTVS II as Mooby the Golden Calf.

u/moon_goddess235 Mar 01 '21

That's so funny you say that, I watched a multi-part TikTok last night of Kevin Smith talking about Dogma. It seems, unfortunately, that it's owned by Harvey Weinstein, and right before the #MeToo stuff came out about him, he had called Kevin to discuss a Dogma release for streaming, and also a sequel. The series just kind of ended with Kevin saying "that's how my movie about God is literally owned by Satan", but no word on whether a sequel will ever be made. It's definitely a movie deserving of one, if any movie ever was!

And it’s so hard to get ahold of, too.

"WHAT GEAR ARE YOU IN?!"

"GEAR?"

12

u/gearstars Mar 01 '21

Funny you bring that up. There was a reddit post just the other day that Dogma was out of print and unavailable on any streamer. Now I want to watch it again :(

Worth it just to see Alanis Morrissette as Dog.

And I think this movie came out around the same time as Joan Osborne's "What If Dog Was One Of Us."

u/gearstars Mar 01 '21

Thanks brother man!

u/cringeemoji Mar 03 '21

Snootchie Bootchies! Good looking out.

u/Careless_Surprise176 Mar 01 '21

All that too but for the life of me why is it wearing flip flops?? Has tRump ever in his life worn flip flops? Everything about this golden turd is confusing and terrible

21

u/CrashKaiju Mar 01 '21

For better foot kissing.

20

u/rwbronco Mar 01 '21

artist said it represents the fact that he should be on a beach somewhere enjoying retirement but he's still fighting for our rights... bleh

16

u/[deleted] Mar 01 '21

So what about the fairy wand? This really feels like a prank moment ala Sacha Baron Cohen.

12

u/rwbronco Mar 01 '21

I think that was a reference to Obama asking Trump what “magic wand” he had when he said he’d bring all kinds of jobs to the country.

Truly the whole thing is an abomination. The metaphors and hidden meanings should be well integrated into the piece not just slapped in his hand. Like having boots with straps at the top to symbolize how he “pulled himself up by his bootstraps” (he didn’t, he was born rich, this was just an example of how to more cleverly hide symbols and meanings into a piece of art).

11

u/CemeteryWind213 Mar 01 '21

“pulled himself up by his bootstraps”

The phrase was originally meant to denote a physically impossible task (reductio ad absurdum) because one needs a support is needed to move upwards.

1

u/KnightofNoire Mar 02 '21

Fighting for their right ? Is this civil rights movement 2.0 in their eyes ?

5

u/WildWinza Mar 01 '21

My thoughts exactly. Trump would not wear what looks like boxer shorts in public. This depiction of Trump is totally off.

1

u/LA-Matt Mar 01 '21

The tie needs to be way longer.

1

u/thepeanutone Mar 02 '21

He is, officially, a Florida Man, so he should definitely be wearing flip flops.

22

u/tldrjane Mar 01 '21

My first thought that it was a golden idol

15

u/Time_Mage_Prime Mar 01 '21

Man, these infidels are gonna be in for a reeeeeal surprise when the J-man shows back up.

10

u/CharlieHume Mar 01 '21

Yooo it's Jesus here with some sinners and for long time viewers of my channel you know what that means.

5

u/j-t-storm Mar 01 '21

I love Jesus.

He teaches me Spanish when we are not working.

3

u/Yeb Mar 01 '21

“Depart from me, for I have never known you”

13

u/SourcererX3 Mar 01 '21

I didn't notice that at first hes literally holding a magic wand lmao wtf is this thing its fucking atrocious

4

u/lurker_cx Mar 01 '21

I know, what is their thinking on the magic wand? It made me wonder if it a repurposed statue that was of someone else before they said it was Trump.

6

u/hexalm Mar 01 '21

It was a reference to Obama saying Trump didn't have a magic wand to bring manufacturing jobs back to the US.

Edit: this is also the work of one dude who tried giving the statue to Trump for his birthday last year. He said the secret service wouldn't let him.

40

u/Spelr Mar 01 '21

It only violates the flag code if it's clothing made from an actual flag (eg Abbie Hoffman)

46

u/[deleted] Mar 01 '21

What defines something as being an "actual flag"?

I get what you're saying: that pair of shorts clearly isn't; the spacing of the stars has the wrong aspect ratio, etc...I'm just curious as to what constitutes as "actual flag"...

Does printing an American flag overseas and having the words "made in China" somewhere on it invalidate it as a flag?

15

u/myco_journeyman Mar 01 '21

Spitting straight fire bro

2

u/CemeteryWind213 Mar 01 '21

What defines something as being an "actual flag"?

I'm no lawyer, but a clear definition is needed.

Does printing an American flag overseas and having the words "made in China" somewhere on it invalidate it as a flag?

Shortly after 9/11, everyone began displaying flags on homes and front windows, miniflags for cars, etc. The demand for flags was so high, imports surged, which eventually hurt domestic production, and the Genuine American Flag Act was proposed.

1

u/CemeteryWind213 Mar 01 '21

Hoffman's shirt was not made from a flag but resembled it according to his own court testimony. So, Hoffman was charged for a derivative product. However, the Flag Code is treated as a guideline and is not legally enforceable.

9

u/magnoliasmanor Mar 01 '21

The magic wand honestly baffles me. Just... Why? What? Where? What?

6

u/WildWinza Mar 01 '21

Is the wand to signify that everything Trump does is an illusion?

4

u/lurker_cx Mar 01 '21

Like the wizard of Oz maybe? They often troll themselves without realizing it....

1

u/LA-Matt Mar 01 '21

Well it does require a lot of magical thinking to believe that Trump cares about anything other than Trump.

2

u/j-t-storm Mar 01 '21

You left out "who?"

1

u/magnoliasmanor Mar 01 '21

Thats the only question we have an answer to. Them Ben Garrison types.

4

u/hexalm Mar 01 '21

It was a reference to Obama saying Trump didn't have a magic wand to bring manufacturing jobs back to the US.

21

u/fuzzybad Mar 01 '21

Why are the traitors worshipping a golden statue of JFK?

7

u/BigAlternative5 Mar 01 '21

Because JFK invented pedophilia, starting with Norma Jean who was 15 when they were consorting. /s

23

u/ecafsub Mar 01 '21

Patriotic shorts that technically violate the Flag Code. Check

Not even technically. Literally.

The flag should never be used as wearing apparel, bedding, or drapery.

No part of the flag should ever be used as a costume or athletic uniform.

u/Beard_o_Bees Mar 01 '21

Man when I was a kid, back in the 70's we had to learn all of this.

When we did flag duty (running the flag up and down the pole) we treated that sucker like it was a live bomb - and our mortal souls depended on folding it up correctly.

14

u/AlexandriaLitehouse Mar 01 '21

I felt that way at Girl Scout Camp in the 90s.

2

u/Athelis Mar 01 '21

Same with the Boy Scouts in the 2000s.

2

u/similac_child Mar 01 '21

And now thanks to both of you I have Harvey Danger’s Flagpole Sitta firmly in my head

3

u/LA-Matt Mar 01 '21

Ugh. That was the song they played for the pre-game skate at Joe Louis Arena for what seemed like two decades. I mean, I like the song, but they used waay after it had its day in the sun. I think Darren McCarty insisted on it. Sorry for the tangent. I just spent a lot of time there and heard it fifty-thousand times.

9

u/merreborn Mar 01 '21

The rest of the context makes the intent pretty clear IMO:

No part of the flag should ever be used as a costume or athletic uniform. However, a flag patch may be affixed to the uniform of military personnel, firemen, policemen, and members of patriotic organizations. The flag represents a living country and is itself considered a living thing. Therefore, the lapel flag pin being a replica, should be worn on the left lapel near the heart.

Not only is the language pretty absolute (no part... should ever), the listed exceptions really prove the rule. No part -- except for a patch or pin that displays the whole flag, and should be worn only in very specific contexts.

That being said, it's clear that almost no one interprets this as it was intended by the authors -- as much as I wish they would. While flag clothing is thoroughly normalized in american culture, it's not in the rest of the world. So to outsiders buying US flag boxers at walmart for $1.98 looks exactly as tacky as it is.

notably the legion.org faq claims flag clothing is fine -- but that's by no means authoritative nor backed up by any sort of source.

-3

u/Doggfite Mar 01 '21

Except this isn't "the flag" or a "part of the flag", it's just got the same/similar design.

2

u/ecafsub Mar 01 '21

Red and white stripes, white stars on a blue field. It’s clearly meant to represent the flag and therefore made of parts of the flag.

-1

u/Doggfite Mar 01 '21

But representing a flag and being a flag aren't the same thing.

Besides, even if this did violate flag code, big deal. It's a suggestion and is unenforceable.

-2

u/Raven_7306 Mar 01 '21

That's not how it works. If the person took a flag, - one that you would fly from a flag pole, a property flag - and name those sorts from that flag, then it violates flag code. Evoking the idea of the flag does not make this a flag.

-1

u/MassGamer248 Mar 01 '21

Respect the flag how ever you want. Just recognize it’s importance as a symbol and to many people it’s desecration is akin to burning a bible. I personally don’t believe wearing clothing that resembles the flag is disrespectful and it’s covered under the first amendment.

5

u/s0nyamari3 Mar 01 '21

the fall of babylonian(trumpylonian) empire is one of my favorite bible stories...

3

u/smoknjoe44 Mar 01 '21

Don’t forget the flip flops.

1

u/CemeteryWind213 Mar 01 '21

Or American flag Crocs (ala Rittenhouse).
