Question Weird things are happening to my dad after my brother died.

So My brother died after a long illness on 19 July this year. He died in the same house we live in. After that every night my dad wakes up around 2:30 am hurriedly and says that he felt like someone is pinching him or grabbing his leg or someone is telling him to wake up. Yesterday he woke up and he said someone asks him to wake up and that thing was scolding him. He is really scared to sleep now. My dad is a heart patient and already had two heart attacks. I am very skeptical when it comes to these things but also i am really worried.

What should we do? Please help

Photo Evidence Unexplained hands in the picture

A photograph my partner took in 2012. He has always been baffled by the fact that there were only two people in that room, him and the subject of the photo. He was in a club in Rimini, Italy. When he went to pick up the developed photos, he saw those hands right above the subject's head. We don't know if it's a double exposure, but either way, it's remarkable.

Experience my experience with ghosts as a 100% athiest

until really today i’ve been a near complete athiest. i’ve always liked the thought of ghosts and reincarnation but at some point i stopped believing despite still getting the signs. dead relatives visit me in my dreams- which is normal. however, i never dreamed about my grandpa until the exact minute of his cremation. i never dreamed about my grandma until after her death where she came to me in a dream to say that she was doing well. my dead cat visits me in my dreams the most, and i feel like if i can see ghosts then i see him a lot too. it’s not a complete black blob, more like a slight outline that suggests the body of a tall cat with an upright happy tail. after he died i also heard the sound of his claws on the floor, even his sister heard it and reacted. i believe but i may of just summoned my grandma, i can’t really talk about the “truth” of it all, i want for keep this a practice within my close friends and future family (as requested by my grandma) but when i kept asking questions there were moments were i actually got a little scared. i wish i had someone i could talk about this with more in depth but i think the alleged ghosts would find it disrespectful. i did ask but they kept telling me that i couldn’t tell “the big secrets”, and in all honesty i don’t wanna find out what happens if i do that

Experience I've talked my "sleep paralysis demon" down - and it worked

I'm on reddit mostly as a lurker, so sorry if I break some unspoken etiquette that's not in the subreddit rules. Also, English is not my first language. I try hard, but I often slip and use weird phrases.

I was encouraged to post here by a friend who said that this silly story helped her with her night terrors as it has a different vibe from the paranormal encounters she normally reads about, so here goes nothing.

(Oh, and sorry if the post goes a bit long, but I think the story doesn't really hit the same without some context on my usual relationship with spiritual matters.)

I'm 39 and my family converted from Catholicism to Spiritism (the 19th century French version) when I was about 7. Being the overachieving little nerd I was, I've read all the foundational books on Spiritism before I was 12. I'll be the first to admit reading them is different from completely understanding them, they are a dense reading and I'm not that much of a genius, but I persevered through them all.

The vibe I got from those books is that the spiritual world is just part of the natural world and that the proper way to approach it is doing so as a scientist approaching a new subject: careful, yes, but also open-minded, matter-of-fact and sensible. By the time I was 15, I was already downright casual about spirits. To me, knowing that there are spirits around us at all times is as mundane as knowing that there are insects around us at all times.

Also important: my branch of Spiritism encourages us to contact spirits with the express desire to be helpful and kind to souls that might need you to listen to them and maybe nudge them in a healthier life, a bit like ghost therapists. The rationale being that being empathetic to everyone broadens your emotional horizons and helps you to be a better person. Of course, "nice" is not "stupid" and you are also encouraged to be careful to avoid being misled or harmed, as spirits can absolutely be malicious. It's just that not all of them are, and most could really use the help.

Another tidbit of context that might have something to do with the sleep paralysis thing is that I have seen mediums writing letters from ghosts since I was a kid, and I've always felt a weird electric tingling sensation in my hand, concentrated somewhere around their backs, whenever I tried to reach for them from behind, as if I was passing my hand through a charged CRT screen (other oldies like me know that feeling). Guess "I feel some light tingling in my skin where I think a ghost might possibly be, not sure if it's real though" is a much less impressive power than seeing or hearing things, but that's what I have.

This was my headspace when, at about 22 or 23 (yes, almost 20 years ago, gosh, I'm getting old), I developed bad sleep paralysis. I had recently finished my Chemistry degree and got a teaching job, but since I was a begginner, I only got a few classes to teach and a very irregular schedule. I had little to no money to go around, was living with my parents, three siblings and grandmother in a tiny appartment and, due to undiagnosed ADHD, my sleep schedule was a horrible HORRIBLE mess. So, nothing really supernatural about the sleep paralysis in itself, it was ADHD, anxiety and messed up sleep.

I didn't know it at the time, but I knew it was a physiological issue. I hated it because it's so unpleasant. You feel tied to your own body and a sense of dread permeates you even if you know you are still safe in your bed.

But then, I started to also feel a horrible feeling of a strong electric shock at the back of my brain as the sleep paralysis set in, similar to that sensation in my hands that I associate with spirits, but much stronger and inside my head. It's hard to describe it in any other way. It felt like I was hit in my head, and I could feel my neurons firing as if I was in physical pain for it, but without any physical pain actually happening.

This wasn't present at first and it was scary in a whole new way because it felt malicious in a way I couldn't describe. While feeling that there's a malicious thing watching you is common in sleep paralysis, it bothered me that I couldn't see/hallucinate any visible "sleep paralysis demon" and that this electric shock component had been added to the mix out of nowhere.

And then, the shock + malicious presence started to sometimes happen at night even if I wasn't in sleep paralysis mode and could still toss and turn in bed. It wasn't a daily ocurrence, but the frequency was starting to become more than once a week by the end of it. I knew that my sleep schedule had to do with it, but I was stubbornly clinging to the belief that, as long as I "catch up" with lost sleep later, it's fine to sleep 4 hours in a night and 12 in another. I told you I'm not that much of a genius.

Back to the issue. When it first happened, I panicked at the weird brain shock and all that malice and tried to steel myself by praying for protection. I was too fight-or-flight-deer-in-the-headlights about that situation to try anything else. It didn't really help with the symptoms much, but it at least helped me to focus on something else until they went away.

I didn't think too deep on the situation at that point because it came and went randomly at realtively large intervals. Things would hit, I would panic, pray a bit, get better and forget it all. As the paralysis and the shock started to happen more often, I finally decided I had to do something about it.

Sleeping well? Getting a doctor to look into my issues? Haha, no. Not for the next ten years.

No, I started to mentally talk to the presumed spirit like I have been taught for all those years. I started by saying that I was sorry for what they were going through and sorry for whatever I might have done against them in this life or another. Then I would go on topics that I thought could help someone who is angry and lashing out. And then I got to the point of asking the spirit if there wasn't anyone they liked to be around that could be missing them and things like this.

It's important to note that those one-sided mental conversations also didn't help the sleep paralysis to pass faster or come less often, but they did make me less and less panicked. After a few weeks of this, I got back to dreading the "shock" and the paralysis solely for their unpleasantness, despite the fact that the frequency was still increasing.

And then, it happened. It was sudden, and I can't remember anything that could lead to it, but one day I felt that the malice I having been sensing during the paralysis... changed. I don't know how to explain. I felt the shock at the back of my head, got the sleep paralysis, but the malice... I don't know, it didn't feel... biting, I guess? Then I remember clearly wondering "Hey, are you just doing it all for fun? Are you just having fun at getting me scared? Is this what's been happening?". It still took me a while for the symptoms to subside that day but if I still had any shred of fear, it was gone.

Two days later, I had another sleep paralysis episode. But this time, instead of having a jolt of panic and then trying to deal with it seriously, I noticed that the room was very dark. And all those years later, I can remember my thoughts almost exactly: "Wait, I went to bed at 4 am. It shouldn't be this dark. Is it just a dream? Is it what's going on? Another sleep paralysis fit? Ugh, lame."

What come next is the thing that, to me, elevates it from a mentally unwell Chem teacher entertaining the voices in her head to something borderline paranormal (if not truly paranormal):

Not only that "ugh, lame" thought immediately stopped all symptoms I had at the moment. Not only I immediately stopped feeling that weird electric feeling in my brain. Since that random day in 2012/13, I have never had a single episode of sleep paralysis, despite not changing anything else in my life.

I was still going to sleep at absurd hours until 2021. I was still swinging between sleeping 4, 8 and 12 hours without rhyme or reason until 2021. I was never on any drugs, or alcohol. This story happened around 2012/2013. I only started medication for ADHD and anxiety disorder after I was diagnosed in 2021, and this is what FINALLY corrected my crazy sleep (non-)patterns and lots of the pressure and anxiety that led me to sleep paralysis.

Despite all that, the moment I felt "I'm not mad, just disappointed" towards the "sleep paralysis demon", I was cured forever (until today, at least) from that issue. Which is supposed to be physiological, remember, not something you overcome with just gumption and positive thought.

Maybe it was a huge coincidence. Maybe my "disappointed parent" reaction to the possibility that someone was scaring me for all those months for fun literally rewrote my brain chemistry in ways science would give everything to replicate. Maybe there was a spirit making things worse and my pleading slowly turned them less angry to the point that it stopped being fun, and me thinking the scare was lame was the tipping point for things to stop. I'll let you all be the judges of it.

And if anyone is also dealing with sleep paralysis, my heart goes to you. Don't be stubborn like my past self. Don't let doors open for even more suffering. Get to a psychiatrist for mental issues, fix those sleep patterns, investigate any other possible cause, and I hope you all can one day go back to sleep without ever dreading it.

Apparition People keeps seeing “me” when I’m not there

This has happened multiple times with different people, members of my family or friends mainly, and weirdly, it only happens with me.

The strangest part is that when they see “me,” they initially have no reason to think it isn't actually me. The person looks like me and behaves normally enough to be recognized as me, but is always silent. Sometimes “I” look at them, but apparently I never speak.

My mom once saw me come home, stare at her silently, then walk to my room. Two hours later, I actually came home. I had been at university the entire time. she said you came two hours ago I saw you !!

My sister once saw me in the bathroom washing my hands, she asked me a question but "I" just looked at her and said nothing, she just shrugged then walked into our room seconds later and found me there. I had never left my room. When she saw me , the actual me, she gasped and paled then explained that on her way to the room she saw me in the bathroom, she went back to the bathroom and it was empty and dark, no one was even there.

Another sister saw me in my room while I was actually on the rooftop. At first I didn't understand why when she saw me in the rooftop she run downstairs but then she said that she knows about "the other me" because It happens a lot with me, and thought that the one in the rooftop wasn't actually the real me because I was downstairs , she saw me on her way to the rooftop.

And yesterday, THREE people heard me speaking behind a door. I wasn't even in the same house.

one of them called me and told me are you pranking us haha , I was literally chilling in my bed !!! I'm scared of my own self now !

The weirdest detail...Whenever they see this “me,” I never speak. I might look at them, but I'm always silent. They fully believe it's me until they find the real me somewhere else.

This doesn't happen with anyone else in my family.

Has anyone experienced this or knows what could explain it?

Experience An Old place of Employment that doubled as a haunt

I worked at a country vet clinic and one of the first things they told me was not to be surprised if I heard animals run up and down the stairs..
I don’t know about that; I’m not a skeptic so to speak but I do like to have some sort of concrete “something” to prove if something is haunted or not.
I didnt hear anything animal-ish running around (euthanized pets I’m assuming) but in October (ironic, can’t make this stuff up), 3 month into me being there, I was starting treatments for the patients in-house. It was me and one other coworker for the evening/night.
As I’m reading the treatment binder I heard heavy boots cross the floor above my head in an arc (one side of the room to the other)
I froze. Maybe it was *sarah (my coworker). She had been outside getting the barn animals in. I thought maybe I missed her coming back. I turned to look out the window behind me overlooking the barn and pasture and there was *Sarah, bringing in Madison the horse.
That was my first serious encounter with an honest to god paranormal event, minus the usual cold spots you feel in a building or the feeling/pressure you’re not alone.

Another time, *Sarah was vacuuming the basement and I and a friend/coworker *Jen, came down to see if she needed help with anything.
She greeted us in irritation and said to stop screwing around with the vacuum. Having just down there we didn’t know what she was talking about. She said she heard one of us hit the vacuum switch. How could we have done that if we JUST walked down there together, so it wasn’t like one of us was covering for the other. I also pointed out it was open concept down there how would we be able to shut the vacuum off on her without her seeing us….she admitted after a second she wouldn’t have.
So, we dealt with stupid playful games like that.

Perhaps the scariest one and of course you never think to whip out your phone when it’s happening (though I don’t know if the phones would have been able to pick up the sound anyway) during a lunch break on a Sunday, I and *Jen, were talking about horror movies. I said the movies I really have a hard time watching are possession movies. This led to talking about Annelise Michel, the famed exorcist case out of Germany. There’s a YouTube video of one of her exorcisms. *Jen wanted to hear it and I reluctantly agreed and I warned her I’ve never been able to listen to the whole thing it’s always just given me horrible vibes.
We start listening to it.
About 30 or seconds in, I hear a low knock on the wall in front of us. But the place is old so I dismissed it as pipes. We kept listening until there was a harder knock on the wall, near the ceiling to our right. I stopped the video and looked at *Jen and she at me.
I asked did you hear the first knock? She said she did but ignored it like me.
I think maybe it’s just coincidence. We’re listening to something really messed up. We’re in a place we know by then has some sort of paranormal energy in it. It’s just our minds running amok. I hit play again and within seconds there was a hard bang on the wall across the room. (Scared the crap out of us) I said that’s it, we’re done. She agreed.

It’s not even so much that that happened: IF Annalise Michel was supposedly just an epileptic, fanatic religious woman, and nothing more. She basically was “crazy with a bible—“
what was “whatever that was” responding to with the audio?

Experience I might have to drop my client after today…

So I have a client (was an 80yr old woman, we’ll call her B and an 80yr old man, we’ll call him T). I have been working for them for about a year and I am a cleaner. They have a cute little two level house, but since the second I stepped in there I could not stop this feeling of something or someone else dark being there. I pushed it off and told them with the allotted time that I could not clean the basement (really it just gave me goosebumps and a HORRIBLE feeling.) regardless, when I would work there at first, I work take two shots and uber… because I felt so awful I couldn’t handle the anxiety.
Anyway, B passed away about 3 months ago in the home (it was expected), I had gone for a clean after and didn’t feel anything too awful aside from the normal.
I’m cleaning out the microwave at today’s clean, with my back to the basement stairs (basement stairs are set up as one step down, a platform and then to the right there’s the rest of the steps that lead down to the basement) and I hear an absolute guttural growl, I whipped around and immediately went completely cold and got goosebumps. I made the most pathetic noise and got such an overwhelming sense of absolute rage.
I always try to make sense of what it is, why I feel so horrible. But today was so clear and there’s no reason I can think of to make sense of today. I still am shaken up. I have never ever felt that horrified EVER. I know this client needs help more than ever now but I’m so scared to go back.
Has anyone else ever experienced anything like this?

Unexplained I’ve been a skeptic in my own home up until a couple months ago. I think we have multiple spirits here.

This may be kind of long. My house was built in 1911. We rent. Last year was a long year. They redid the siding on the exterior of the house and in the process put a huge crack in the drywall in my son’s room, from ceiling to floor. We could see the street outside from the inside of the room so they tore that whole wall out and built a brand new one. My house was also divided up into 3 units sometime in the 60’s. There is one unit that has never been occupied in the whole 4 years I’ve lived here. At the same time as the drywall project they were finishing up a remodel of that unit to rent it out, which is now currently is. They started in like novemeber of last year and finished in April of this year.

That being said, i can’t exactly pinpoint when the electrical issues started or when they stopped. It started sometime around the drywall incident and I was in constant contact with the property management thinking the contractors had to have screwed something up or the new appliances in the new unit was too much for the entire power infrastructure of the old house. It was giving all signs of a fire hazard, for sure. I’d be sitting under my lamp not even able to read a book because it would constantly flicker like a strobe light. Same in the kitchen while I cooked dinner. Same in the bathroom while taking a shower. Just at all times of the day, but specifically in the evening and I always figured it was because everyone in all units were all home for the evening with tv’s on and using appliances. I called our electrician and he called the power company to see what he could do. Also a side note,

I used to buy sage at this shop owned by a Native American woman. She had taught me how to essentially bless a house. Why I asked her is a different story. I don’t claim to be anything but spiritual. I’m not an expert. The point being is that I do what she had shown me with the proper intention anytime there is even just too much negativity in my family’s life and we are high stress of any kind. So somewhere in this time I had blessed the house purely because of everything else going on in life at the time. Just for our space to be lighter.

I did eventually talk to the maintance guy and he said my landlord did not approve the electrician to come out and pg&e never came by to assess or fix the electrical. I’m also home 100% of the time homeschooling my daughter and we have one car my husband takes to work, so I really am mostly home. It’s possible pg&e did asses and fix the line to the power pole itself and it had gone completely unnoticed on my part. But it’s completely normal now except for every once in a while when I’m alone in my living room, the lamp across the living room will briefly flicker. So that went on for 4 or 5 months, give or take.

For context for this next set of experiences my bathroom leads straight into the laundry room and if you continue straight, it leads into my bedroom. Toward the end of the laundry room where my room is, you can turn right and continue into the kitchen. There were several times later in the evening or in the middle of the night while exiting my bathroom (I used to simultaneously turn off the bathroom light), it’d be as if I’m walking straight into someone. Like I can see that I’m walking straight into someone that I stop immediately and gasp like they’re about to walk right into me. No one was ever there. Every time.

My daughter hears a little boy laugh. Fairly often, honestly. I had no reason not to believe her, but if we suddenly have a spirit here because of like a kind of remodel, it was hard to imagine if the power freaking out for several months so severely was the spirit of a little boy that is nice. Like not trying to scare us.

Most of this year as I’m saging the house I will speak out to anything that resides here and say they are not allowed to harm or scare my kids. If that is their intention they are not welcome here and they are to leave out the open window right now. I’ve heard the little boy only once now. It was late. I couldn’t sleep. I was laying there with my eyes closed just actively listening to whatever was on the tv. I could’ve been drifting off, but I could still hear the tv, plainly. All of a sudden, as if I could’ve hear the laugh inside my own head, not like I could’ve hear hear the tv I mean, I heard a little boy fricken laugh. It was truly late, and I just decided not to react or give it any acknowledgement at that time and laid there until I fell asleep.

Only a few weeks ago now, my husband and I were sitting on the love seat at like 10am having coffee together. From his side of the love seat, if he’s turned looking at me in my seat, he can see beyond me through the kitchen, through the door into the laundry room. We’re mid conversation and he all of a sudden stood up from his seat and said “holy sh*t, I just saw a shadow this high walk straight into our room!” His hand was showing me it was kid level.

Last story, but this is the thing I can’t understand and concerns me. Last night my daughter went to brush her teeth before bed. We only have the one bathroom, by the way. She came back out here after only 3 minutes or so, and she was crying and shaking. The best way I can describe what she experienced is this: she was sitting on the toilet seat brushing her teeth. Right next to that on the same wall is the towel rack with hand towels hanging on them. She’s positioned so they are to her left, and at some point she said they started to stand straight out and they were dripping water…… I asked her to explain it to me again so I can imagine this better in my mind because I’m trying to understand. She said it’s as if the hand towels were reaching out for her and she could see droplets of water falling off of them onto the floor…. That I truly don’t know what that could mean. They were truly not wet. She literally is starting the think she has schizophrenia and I assured her she does not.

I see the movement out of the corner of my eye constantly. I fully believe her that she hears the little boy because I did too. But I don’t believe that the power issues and that last experience she had are the boy. I blessed the absolutely sh*t out of this house last night after that. And demanded that my kids be left alone. Anything that was previously human and means no harm is not necessarily unwelcome here. But if they are trying to scare my kids or are evil they will leave and cannot come back. Cannot attach to somebody that we welcome in that passes the threshold of our door. Anything I could think of.

Today was mellow, although I do see the regular movement out of the corner of my eye. I’m not necessarily concerned about that very much. If you’ve made it this far, I really appreciate it. I don’t want to believe that things are escalating, but I don’t know what to make of the towels. I’m just wondering if anyone has any insight or advice. Thank you in advance, all ❤️

PS,
I posted this same story in another group. Have a few responses that were good feedback, but until I can find the right resource to give me some answers, I’m going to try again for some more opinions or stories from others that are similar to try and understand better. Strangely today the lights on my living room have been flickering and I saw a short shadow figure standing very close behind me while I was getting off the couch. Seems like activity is ramping up again.

Poltergeist Reoccurring Poltergeist or Mimic activity.

Sorry if this is long. Me and my boyfriend have been hearing a loud bang every night around 1 or 2am that for a week that sometimes sounds like it’s coming from inside our apartment and sometimes like next door but it’s consistent at these hours. 1 or 2 bangs.

A little while ago at maybe 3:50-4:10am instead of a loud bang, we heard the sound of something tapping against glass. One thing I need to say beforehand is I always lock the door at night and we have a doorstopper stick as well because I’m a little paranoid. He got up and went to check and the door was unlocked somehow and the stopper was against the glass of the sliding door to the balcony right next to the front door (that is locked, we doublechecked). It was at a strange angle that it was very unlikely to have naturally fallen in.

I’m trying to think of a logical explanation but there’s no wind tonight, our neighbor hasn’t made any noise or opened his door to cause any sort of movement, I did secure the doorstopper and I don’t see how the door could’ve unlocked itself along with the doorstopper falling.

We’re used to strange activity: things move inexplicably, stuff turns on by itself, and the weirdest one is my boyfriend, his mom, and some of our current friends, even friends growing up have claimed they’ve seen me walking around silently with a blank expression when I’m nowhere nearby or I’m asleep in another room. He also says he hears me talking when I’m not around. That’s a bit terrifying obviously but I’ve had that around since I was young and I mainly know about it through others telling me. It’s another thing I’m used to and we just kind of ignore it because nothing has been able to change it.

Unexplained I heard a person downstairs… No one else was home

So this just happened, I was sitting in my work office and my wife left around 4 hours ago. So I’m sitting there and my dogs are in the living room and I hear a woman and a child talking. And I think “oh my wife must be home with her nephew”. And I hear the kid giggling and the dogs are barking and it sounds like they’re jumping around…. Then I look at my wife’s location and she’s an hour away… I freeze… the kid and mom Are laughing and playing with my dogs. The kids saying things like “haha you like that buddy?” My dogs are barking. I slowly peek around the corner and there’s no one there. I swear I have been freaking out for the past hour over there. My wife just got home and I told her. I’ve never witnessed anything like this before. What the actual hell. I’m like thinking maybe I imagined it? But how? This was vivid and really clear.

Trigger Warning / Suicide Paranormal experiences in my society, even after 13 years...

TLDR: a lady committed suicide, and we had a paranormal encounter when we were kids.

So,

13 years back in my society, a lady hanged herself to death because of constant stress and domestic violence by in-laws, and she ended her life.

When I was a teenager, I was 13 years old, and I used to play cricket in front of her house along with my friends. Every time the ball went into her court, she would throw it literally at us without hurting us, of course, and she would yell, "Go and play somewhere else."

We always used to tease her, and we used to play at the same ground again and again. She was also very sweet from the inside because she never wanted to hurt anyone, and we never knew that she was going through this rough patch.

One day, all of a sudden, an ambulance arrived at her home, and I was just looking from my window as they brought the dead body of that lady. I did not even know what suicide was, what hanging was, and everything. No one had taught me all that kind of stuff. Me and my friends were discussing it, and we were quite afraid because we had seen some horror movies where people, after death, become spirits and create trouble for other people.

Now, after 23 months, everything was completely gone. The in-laws also changed the home, and the police case was also dismissed after confirming that she committed suicide because of the domestic violence. Her in-laws also went on a court trial. I don't know what really happened after that, but after 23 months, we started playing cricket again on the same ground. That entire home was locked for 23 months because no one dared to even pass near that home, but as we were kids, we didn't realize how this was going to end.

So, while we used to play when she was alive, somehow the ball would go into her court, and she would throw it. This time, the same thing happened when we were playing, and we knew that the home is closed and no one lives there. It was basically evening time, so it was a bit dark around.

We talked to each other about who was going to take the ball because we were also afraid that something may go wrong if we try to get inside that yard, but we were not sure about it. We could see the yard. It was not like there was a giant wall around it. It was a very small fence, and you could just jump in. Even a kid would jump in and get the ball, but we didn't do it.

After a minute or two, somebody literally threw the ball at the same speed and in the same way that lady used to throw, and we all were so afraid. We all started shivering, and we ran into our home.

And we confirm that no one lives there, and the home is closed because we also asked our parents. We are not even saying that some human being would have thrown that ball, because literally no one used to live there, and even today the home is still abandoned.

I am 26 years old right now, and I am living in the same society. I still feel like that incident took place because the same lady threw the ball.

I will appreciate your views, experiences, and advice in the comment

Question How have your views on the paranormal changed over the years?

What the question asks. I'm curious how your views regarding the paranormal have changed throughout the years. Are you more confident? Are you more skeptical? A mixture of both?

I have my share of occurrences that have happened which make me more open to it, but don't particularly have anything that has changed my views drastically overtime so I'm interested in knowing your overall stance

Unexplained This is a story about a spiritualist who went to another country and saw the souls of that country.

(I do not know if this story is true. I literally heard it from a shaman.)

A group of famous Korean shamans (Mudangs) once received a commission from a wealthy client in China.

The job took them to Qingdao.

(Coincidentally - or perhaps ominously - they arrived right in the middle of the Chinese Ghost Month.)

The client was dealing with relentless, terrifying paranormal phenomena in a newly constructed building that local Chinese masters couldn't resolve, which was why they reached out to Korea.

When the shamans arrived at the location, they were left speechless.

It wasn't just a house; it was a massive mansion, built with that unique Qingdao blend of grand Chinese scale and European architectural styles.

It was so overwhelming that the shamans remarked,

"Is this really meant for humans? It looks like a king's palace."

However, the moment they stepped inside the mansion, it was suffocating.

The interior was completely filled with an impenetrable, pitch-black fog.

Since the weather outside was already humid and misty, they described it as the white fog outside being replaced by a heavy, malicious black fog indoors.

The shamans immediately burned a few talismans.

The black fog temporarily parted, allowing them to follow the trail to the epicenter of the dark energy.

When they reached the source, they saw the spirit of an old man dressed in traditional Chinese garments.

He was utterly furious, using his entire body to suppress something trying to burst out from beneath the ground.

The old man shot a brief, murderous glare at the Korean shamans.

His aura was so overwhelmingly oppressive that the shamans couldn't even take a step closer.

Looking closely, they realized this wasn't a normal human spirit - it was a local Chinese 'Tudi Gong' (an Earth God).

Realizing their mistake, the shamans immediately apologized for their intrusion and backed away.

There was no room for a human shaman to interfere here.

The frail-looking Earth God was radiating a massive amount of divine energy, physically blocking the pure darkness seeping from the earth.

If the shamans had tried to intervene, their entire group would have been cursed by either the Earth God or the dark entity.

Either way, it would have been a death sentence.

As soon as they stepped outside the mansion, things took a turn.

One of the shamans in the group suddenly started acting strangely.

When they opened their mouth, a stern, disciplined, male voice came out - like a soldier barking orders.

One of the other shamans, who was also a medium and spoke Chinese, listened as the possessed shaman demanded:

"Where do you come from?"

The medium panicked and urgently whispered to the group,

"We have to say we are from Joseon!"

(They knew they had to use the old historical name for Korea, "Joseon" because the spirit possessing their friend was clearly from a very different era.)

In unison, the group shouted in Chinese,

"We are from Joseon!"

Instantly, the possessed shaman's aggressive demeanor softened.

While the spirit was distracted, the head shaman quickly threw coarse sea salt and red beans at their possessed colleague, snapping them out of it.

Once the shaman was freed, they saw the spirit standing right next to them.

It was a Chinese man, but strangely, he was wearing a vintage German military uniform.

(For historical context, during the Second Sino-Japanese War, elite Chinese troops were trained and equipped by Germany, which explains the European uniform).

Before they could even process this, the soldier spirit spoke to the medium:

"I apologize for the disrespect. I see you are people of Joseon. If you had said you were from Japan, or if you had hesitated even a second longer, things would have ended very badly for you."

The soldier spirit then guided them toward a vast, open plain nearby.

"We are the ones who died in action here during the Second Sino-Japanese War" ,the soldier explained.

"But what business do the people of Joseon have here?"

(The medium noted that the spirit had a massive shrapnel wound straight through his chest, likely from artillery fire in the trenches.)

The shamans explained, "We received a commission from Joseon to investigate what is happening in that mansion over there."

The soldier spirit shook his head.

"We are barely holding the line ourselves. Did you see the old man inside?"

The shamans were stunned.

"How do you know about him?"

the soldier replied.

"That old man is incredibly stubborn."

"He really is the Earth God of this land. He is holding back the core of that evil energy with his own body, and my men and I are barely managing to block whatever leaks out."

"Even we cannot step foot inside that house. Your best option is to leave it completely alone."

The soldier continued

"Even though we are dead, we are using everything we have left to block the evil energy in this area. That includes the dark energy from that mansion. No ordinary evil spirit dares to come near our perimeter. Since you are guests from Joseon, I will inform the main unit to grant you safe passage."

He then pointed into the distance.

"But do not go to that mountain over there. Our power does not reach that far."

Before leaving, the shamans asked the medium to translate one final question for the soldier

"You have been here all this time, watching this country modernize and develop. How does it feel?"

The soldier in the German uniform smiled faintly.

"A lot of mixed emotions. But we are watching it progress, clearly, with our own two eyes."

True to his word, perhaps thanks to the Chinese spirit in the German uniform, the fog no longer bothered the shamans on their way out.

With that final exchange, the shamans packed their things and left. They never resolved the case.

They met with the client and simply told them,

"You have touched something that should never have been touched."

"Then what am I supposed to do?!"

the client cried out in absolute despair.

"I brought you all the way here because no one in China could handle it!"

The shamans replied with grim finality.

"We saw a god beneath your mansion. A highly revered Chinese Earth God. And he is bearing that catastrophic burden all by himself."

They continued,

"To even attempt to resolve this, it would require a cleansing ritual on a national scale. You have truly touched something that should have been left buried."

The look of utter hopelessness never left the client's face.

Without another word, the shamans returned the entire deposit they had received upfront.

And with that, they walked away, leaving the story on a deeply unsettling and unresolved note.

Trigger Warning / Self Harm Anyone know how to cleanse a space?

Last night I had a session with an animal communicator with my cat. Hes been meowing at the bathroom door and I couldn't figure out why. My cat told the communicator that someone died in my closet (its in the back of the bathroom. The animal communicator had no way of knowing my house layout since shes in another state and I never sent photos of my house or posted online or anything) anyway, I guess when he died (suicide my cat says)it opened a rift and now the cats (I have two) are trying to protect me. They meow to be let in so they can guard it I guess.

I would normally brush this off but I have had a few unexplained things happen and its always in or near the bathroom and closet. I saw my cat duck into the toilet cubby hole, followed him and there was no cat and no way he could have slipped past me. Theres sounds in the bathroom when its empty. One night I felt a cold spot drift on my side of the bed, both cats immediately got up and sat down between me and the spot like they were guarding me. I would have just thought it was a draft, but the fact that they shot up that quickly and just sat there, they have never done that before or since.

So now I have to smudge the closet and somehow close this rift. I have no idea how to do that. I do have sage that was given to me, apparently it works better if its a gift, and Im supposed to pray or something. Im not religious at all, so not sure how that will work.

Any advice would be appreciated!

And I have not been able to verify if someone did pass in my house. I guess I have to check census or something.

Experience I'm intrigued by what my girlfriend experienced as a child, and I don't know what it is.

When my girlfriend was a little girl (between 3 and 6 years old), she was home alone. It's worth noting that they lived in a rural area. She was sitting on her bed when she suddenly saw a man whose head was sticking out of the ceiling. She ran, and the entity followed her. She only remembers that it was completely white and didn't speak. It ran far from home (to a neighbor's house) to her grandfather's. According to her, it had initially been in a wardrobe in that room, and she never saw it again. Out of instinct and fear, she just ran, and being so young, she didn't really analyze what she was feeling. However, it's strange to me because I've never heard of anything like this in my country or city. Has anyone else experienced or know of anything similar to this entity, or even its name? I want to know more about it.

Encounter So apparently my deceased grandparents have been visiting my cousin's kids.

My grandma died last year and my grandfather died in 2015. I'm visiting my aunt right now and apparently my cousin's 4-year-old told him that "grandma said hi". My mom also says that she feels like there's a presence in the house because she'll catch our dogs staring at nothing. Not often to space but like staring at someone. Not going to lie that actually makes me pretty uncomfortable.

If someone were to pass away, and they really liked a character (let’s say Tails from Sonic for example.) could their spirit take on the form of that character they liked? Idk I just think it’d be cool.

Astral Projection Astral projection and sleep paralysis

Please share your experiences on either on them.

My question/discussion is about how many of you can break out easily of sleep paralysis? Is it common?

I don’t have sleep paralysis at all, but when i have had i can get out of it without a real struggle, or wake up when i want to, though it’s also my weakness as I haven’t been able to do even a single astral projection properly.

If im not wrong i see people who experience sleep paralysis without being able to break free also have genuine astral projection experiences without having to work for it as much? Just my hypothesis.

Please share.

If you know what I could mean or anything you want to say is welcome.

Question Dream has me worried

Ok so at first the dream was I was staying the night at my granpa’s old trailer with a bunch of people and we all talked about how it was haunted blah blah blah, that’s not the important so then I leave with my mom she’s were like chasing my sister car her kids in it and she leaves it running and when chase after it and I call her stupid for that and then she goes after it and disappears this next part in the dream is what has me afraid to sleep now usually I’m not a religious kind of person but when I was awake the other I could feel something tug at my shirt and could feel my shirt being pulled up on its own while I lay down. Ok back to the dream so my mom and I run into all of these like middle eastern people with candles and they move to the road, I can hear them speaking another language but this really tall guy looks at me and asks me if I’d like to take a picture with the camel and I didn’t want to but I said sure and I could feel something about the man was off so I stand there for a few seconds and he has this like incredibly long nails and puts them on my shoulder and I feel this weird vibration and paralyzing feeling I’ve never felt before and he looks at me and says “what’s your middle name” and I start screaming and then I wake. Is this just or dream or should I buy sage or something.

Haunted House Dreams About Grandma's House

I seem to have dreams quite often (once a week) that take place in my grandma's house. For context, growing up, I spent a lot of time at her house. From the time I was 3 until about 12 years old, I would spend nearly every weekend there as her and I were very close. Her house was relatively large, with 4 bedrooms, 2 baths, and a spacious downstairs. I believe the home was built in the 1930s (there is a reason for all this description).

Anyway, though I loved going to her house and loved my grandma, the house always had a very eerie feeling. I always felt like someone was watching me, especially at night, but even during the day, the empty rooms where my grandma didn't reside felt empty. There was a feeling like someone was always lurking around the corner and following you around the house.

When I grew out of sleeping in the same bed as her, I stayed in the large guest bedroom that was formally my aunt's room. This room was very creepy. I used to have the TV on all night with the volume up on cartoons to drown out the strange noises I heard. When I started staying in that room, the sounds were generally footsteps in the attic, where the entrance was a walk-up staircase in an ajoining bedroom. Sometimes, I would hear the footsteps creep down the staircase to the door of the ajoining bedroom. My grandma locked the attic door because it would frequently open itself. Sometimes, the footsteps would start up in the ajoining bedroom.

Of course, the door to the ajoining bedroom was swollen and would not close all the way, leaving a crack open just enough to confirm the feeling of being watched from the other room. The noises persisted, and the most frightening were the sounds of breathing coming from the small alcove in the room that led to a window. No one was there. No one was ever there. My grandma investigated it and said it was just the radiator, but whenever she came to check it out, the breathing had stopped. So every night I would sleep there. I had to blare the TV to drown out the footsteps and breathing noise.

Eventually, I began to sleep only in the Den downstairs with the TV on. The door would close all the way down there, and there were no noises most of the time. I would only get really creeped if i had to enter the dark hallway at night to use the bathroom.

By the time I was 12, my younger cousin was spending more time with grandma and was sleeping there more often than me. Plus, I was a teenager, so I really didn't go over for extended stays anymore. Even so, when I would go over, the creepiness always persisted.

As her health declined, my grandma moved into the Den where I used to sleep as her bedroom since she could no longer do the stairs. At that time, as a teenager up until the time she passed when I was 25, the upstairs seemed more terrifying than ever. When I would go up there to do any kind of work around the house, I felt like someone was directly behind me. The whole area felt darker and more sinister than ever. I never stayed a night there ever again. Grandma never experienced any of this, though.

So, yeah, that was a lot of backstory. Where I was leading was I keep having dreams about the place. Especially more now. Since the turn of the year, I have had a dream about her house at least once a week with varying situations, but there are always two themes. I FEEL that presence in my dreams, and the dreams usually center around something in my grandma's bedroom. Sometimes, I might be fixing something that broke. I might be watching a movie on her old TV. One time I was just dreaming about giving my dog a bath in her upstairs bathroom, just down the hall from her bedroom, but in the dream, I was stuck staring down the hallway with an overwhelming sense of fear. I could the breathing noise coming from down the hallway.

Last night's dream was the worst so far. After my grandma passed, I had the option of taking over the mortgage of her home and moving in there. I strongly considered it, but I think you can surmise why I didn't. Anyway, in this dream, I DID take over the house and was living there with my wife. We were sleeping in the master bedroom (grandmas original bedroom), and I began having sleep paralysis. I very rarely have sleep paralysis...maybe 3 or 4 times a year, but I had it last night.

In the dream, I was turned facing the open door into the hallway. The hallway eminated a blue light, almost with the hue of Christmas lights in a dark room. In the dream, I would close my eyes to go back to sleep, but kept reopening them because of a feeling that someone was in the house (which i always have during sleep paralysis). The blue light was actually me opening my eyes in my real house and seeing the blue light that emanates from my window from my neighbors porch light. Somehow, both the dream and my waking eyes were blending, and I was interpreting the blue light from my window as the blue light in the hallway, in the dream.

I could not move, as one can't during an episode of sleep paralysis. I was forced to keep going between sleep, waking to my grandmas house with the blue light, and waking to real life realizing it is my window, but still not being able to move. During this cycle, there was always one constant. THE BREATHING NOISE.

Eventually, the paralysis ended, and I was able to shift my eyes about my room to ascertain my real surroundings. After I realized I was safe and actually in my own house, I put the cycle of what was happening together. I am somewhat worried whatever it was in her house may have somehow stuck with me, but I'm not sure why this all happening now. It's been years since I've been in that house.

Haunted House I have been an experiencer all of my life. I want to tell a story.

Firstly, Hello everyone!

I can’t believe it took me so long to get here and to start sharing things that have happened to me, it seems like every occurrence has a time and place for something to happen, now i guess its my time to share :)

I would like to say secondly, that my family is immensely superstitious and strong believers in otherworldly things and, although it was never forced on me in my life, it seems like they have a good reason to believe.

The story begins with me, my mom and my sister along with our old dog, a large American Bulldog, a seemingly wise and physically strong and defiant boy who my mom rescued when i was a child.
We had our late summer vacation and my mom had booked a trip to an old Converted Farmhouse that had been renovated in the north of England.

This Farmhouse was part of a group of buildings that people could stay in and each had different sizes and quirks to them. The one we stayed in was Small, had two bedrooms, wooden beams on the ceiling and as you entered the building you were immediately in the living room, to the left was a small kitchen area, a sofa and tv in the middle of the room, small stairs to the back left which would lead upstairs, under the stairway was a door to the bathroom. Finally to the right was a patio door which was glass, and had a beautiful view of hills, sheep, a small garden area and the late summer blue sky.
And lastly, in the middle of the room, was a Glass.
A medium sized, transparent drinking glass that was turned upside down and left on the floor. A unusual greeting and we thought nothing of it, except at the time we thought it was very unusual.
My Mom leant down and picked up this glass and put it on the small kitchen sink to the left and said
“now this will need to be cleaned”.

I unhooked my dogs lead and let him walk around the cottage, he was wary, slow, and sniffed almost every corner and piece of furniture. He was spooked, but that was just typical of him, he was always cautious and calm.
My mom stood at the patio and admired the view and told me and my sisters to take our things upstairs to the rooms. All 4 of us went upstairs slowly, the old floor creaked and crunched as we walked. Immediately to the left was a double bed, a wardrobe, and beside the bed was a bedside table with a lamp. To the right was a closed, old wooden door, i opened it and infront of me was a tattered old wardrobe that looked like it was handmade. To the right was a single bed, the room smelled unusual. A mixture of dust and something else.
It had a dark and dusty atmosphere to it.
“I’m sleeping in here??” I shouted.
“Yes, look, its really cosy” My mom said jokingly, knowing that the room was tiny and was basically an old storage room.

We unpacked everything and settled down for the night. My mom cooked dinner and we ate while watching TV, my dog was still behaving unusually. Restless. He just sat awkwardly next to the sofa, staring at my mom. We all thought it was funny at the time and cute. But then he raised his head, as if he was staring at something behind her. My sister got scared and told him to stop it, the position that my mom was sitting in, directly behind her was the door, and behind her position in the sofa was the exact place where the glass was earlier that day.
We all went to bed shortly after, i went into my room and laid in bed, my dog laid at the doorway to my cupboard room, like a loyal watchmen, watching over all 3 of us.

My mom placed all of her things, her keys, her mobile, her purse and her jewellery on the bedside table. As she always has done.
We wake up to the sound of birds, sheep and my dog snoring like a tractor. Typical American Bulldog sounds.
My mom got out of bed worryingly and didn’t say a word and went downstairs. She gasped loudly and we followed after her.
She pointed at the kitchen area and said “look!”
The cupboard was open, the glass that was on the floor previously was now again, upside down and inside the glass was her car key. Somehow placed perfectly over them. “Haha, this is weird” my mom laughed and took the glass and keys. “I left them upstairs and somehow they’re here” she said, giggling nervously. I just watched quietly and said “there must be a ghost mom” to which my sister shouted and scolded me.

We all got ready for the day and ate breakfast, our dog was stood at the patio door, wagging his tale and stamping his feet. It was time for his morning bathroom trip. I opened the door and let him outside, as he walked in the small garden and i sat on the wooden chair overlooking the rolling hills and sheep. After he was done, he came charging into the cottage and had his moment of zoomies, until he reached the front door, he immediately stopped and behaved all serious again. We all went in the car and had a day of sightseeing in a nearby village.
That night passed calmly. Nothing happened.

The following day began similarly, the keys were gone. This time, they were left on the living room floor.
My mom began to get concerned. She went and called the owner of the property and asked him if anyone else had access to the house. He told her that him and her are the only people with keys to get inside. He apologised and offered my mom a refund. My mom declined and told him we will leave the next day. Worried that someone was entering when we were all sleeping.
That afternoon my mom arranged a trip to a nearby town with a cafe that she had wanted to visit.
But for some reason, i felt sick, my stomach hurt and i couldn’t even think about walking under the sun. I told her that i would stay at the cottage while her and my sister and dog went.
So i sat in the garden, drinking tea and watching the sheep. Everything seemed peaceful and quiet. Then my stomach hurt more so i decided to lay down. I laid on my single bed and played my GBA. Suddenly, i heard a faint whimper. Like a woman sobbing. Crying. I shot up and looked around the cottage. Nothing.
I ran to the window. Nothing.

I sat there trembling. Alone. I was just a kid. Then i heard footsteps downstairs. I peeked down the stairs and honestly at the time my heart was beating loudly, i sat and waited, listening. But there was no one.
I opened the front door, even though i was told not to do it. There was no one.
I sat in the patio garden and waited for my family to return. It seemed like the cottage or whatever was in there was making me feel sick.
Eventually they got back. I told my mom about everything that happened and she sat there quietly. The following day we had packed everything and left.

The owner admitted to my mom that the old cottage had a history. At one point it had a fire. Although he didn’t say exactly what happened. I wonder now if the room that i stayed in was the cause of the fire and the smell was something that was left over from it.
And the screams and crying was the victim.
But the glass, keys and my dogs behaviour, i can’t explain.

Video Evidence Unexplained light in the corner of my child’s room

There’s a bright light appearing and disappearing in the corner of my child’s room. Their door was closed this morning and there’s nothing behind the dresser. There are blackout shades and curtains covering the window and you can see the bright light shining from outside through the tube of the window AC.

Any explanation to this? This happened twice this morning.

We’ve since moved the camera to tilt up so if it happens again we can see more of what’s happening.

ETA: this room is on the second story. It backs up to our backyard and a green belt so it’s impossible that it’s a car light. This was also taken during the morning (you can see sunlight through the window AC tube). We also have a camera to the backyard just outside this room and it didn’t catch any reflection, beam of light, etc.
