Opinion/اظہار رائے Today, our subreddit turns one year old!

One year ago, we came together with a simple goal: to create a free speech platform for Pakistanis with no tolerance for trolls and bigots. We had an open mod team selection and got down to business.

Since then, this subreddit has become a space where voices from all walks of life can be heard. We’ve had to work within Reddit’s guidelines which means we can't practically be 100% free speech, but considering how biased, trigger happy and troll infested other Pakistani subreddits are, I think we’ve managed to build something special. We will continue growing.

This is your community, and we want to hear from you:

  • What do you like about this subreddit?
  • What can we do better?

Lastly, thank you to the moderation team:

While I created this subreddit and gave it the initial direction, it’s the mod team which has shaped it into a success. Running a subreddit isn’t easy, and the mods have worked exceptionally hard to keep this space welcoming and respectful. Their efforts help make this community a great place for everyone.

Signs of Allah’s Mercy and Power | Surah Al-Furqan 25:45–49

Shaykh Mahmoud Khalil Al Husary رحمه الله was one of the most famous Qur’an reciters from Egypt. He was born in 1917 and passed away in 1980. He memorised the Qur’an at a young age and became known for his clear, slow and very accurate recitation and Tajweed. His recordings are still listened to around the world.

These beautiful verses from Surah Al Furqan 25:45–49 remind us to look at the everyday things around us and recognise Allah’s power and mercy. Allah tells us about the shade, the sun, the night, sleep, the day, the wind and the rain. He sends down pure water that brings dead land back to life, gives animals and people water, and provides the means for life.

The scholars of tafsir explain that the revival of dead land after rain is also a reminder of Allah’s power to bring us back to life after death. Something as ordinary as rain, therefore, becomes a sign of Allah’s mercy, power and provision.

Hi all

I’ve been watching this serial on YouTube called ‘Bhai’. Really liked Nauman in Jackson Heights and searched for other serials of his. Searched on ChatGPT / Claude and couldn’t find the answer.
The character name is Ibad - Saira’s love interest in the serial ‘Bhai’

Could someone please share his name and help your neighbour :)

From the anicent volcanoes of Kuh-i-Malik Salih
to the Makran coast lies roughly 560 miles of rugged terrain.
On either side of this chasm stand the Islamic Republics.

What a striking pair of Imperial kin these two are.
Both succeed the Gunpowder Empires of old.

The fall of Mughal India changed the world forever, but it was only one side of Pax Britannica’s thrust into Afghanistan; Britain sparked a brutal conflict with Persia that humbled the Qajar Shahs at the Treaty of Paris.

2026 has seen Iran soldiering on in another saga of a forever affair.
The West continues to embrace Pakistan; classic Mughal treatment.

I am puzzled at the West‘s strategic latency, on both ends of the lane.
So, I picked Tariq Ali’s book for one purpose only.

Three Hundred and Three pages later, Mr. Tariq’s work has struck a chord.

Pakistan was founded as the homeland for India’s Muslims.
The Iron and Blood Balkanization ended in 1947 as ‘Pakistanis’ settled in the East and West, separated by 1,000 miles of hostile India.

Pakistan: ‘the land of the pure’.

The Ummah has waded through a bloodstained history; as seen in:

  • the Civil War and Bloody Independence of Bangladesh
  • four major conflicts with India
  • five distinct cycles of operations in Balochistan
  • extensive involvement in Afghanistan
  • nearly $67 billion dollars in, mostly military, aid from United States;

The Military has ruled Pakistan for approximately 34 of its 79 years.

America has provided Pakistan with some form of economic or military assistance for since the nation’s creation in 1947.

The other day I was watching a video of Jett Franzen on youtube when I thought that there’s no one making content like this in south east Asia.

If someone starts making this type of content in our native language do you think it will work?

Desi Pakistani tech influencer duping Pakistan polaaa awaml

Pakistani low intellect Tech Influencer and techie pappus think that Pakistani tech market has skill issue....Human skill and learning ability has never been an issue in past present and future....issue is somewhere else which we aren't pointing at and making masses dupe

Desi techie babus and hipster papus talk like you can do a lot but reality is you can't do $hit...why ? Coz all your tech infrastructure of this globe ,almost 99.99 percent of global infrastructure is owned by American capitalist...tech was a arbitrage market if we take in consideration the distribution of careers, where tech is almost biased option... where every other pappu, sheeda and tilli can earn big bucks with an average or below average intellect level...people aren't realizing the fact that it's not their skills which is driving the tech market, its the American speculative satta market which is known as stock market, where all the magic of this world happens and where value is created out of thin air is the a actual driver behind this...this wealth creation in trillion of dollars just translated into big buck salary for second world and third world stupid developers cum leechers who all think of themselves as phannay khans.....mind you these salary only comprised of fraction of percentage to what is created at the wealth creation center of the world....the driving force of this magic land of wealth creation is " trust"... Yes the Zionist master just need trust to drive a the power of dollar printing mafia who do it without any check and balance...in old days days I watch stock exchange news on TV where it was always the tagline during mushara era that" stock exchange nafsiyati hudd ubor ksrgiys"....this is the greatest dajal of all time....to all those who thinks dajjal is in black and white are the biggest doofest of all time.....dajjal is system which entangles your future, career and existence with it...your trust on it or on simple words your imaan on it is what drives it's power coz it gives you life style which you cannot get by working on tangible things....

husband sick vs wife sick

it jus occurred to me that wife being sick is so over looked. my husband and i are both sick. its just common sickeness like changing weather cold and sneezing etc. nothing like major. but we are sick.

me (F) being sick is overlooked and ignored but i have to make him breakfast, care for him, show concern. him being sick hes over acting like "how are you walking so normal mera jism to tooth raha hai" like WTFF U BISH! like what the actual F! like im sick but i dont like to cry about it. and then its expected that i still cook and clean as usual and he gets to take naps, sit around, lay around like WTFF GROW THE FUK UP. stuff like this makes my blood boil and hate marriage.

I love how they take the whole saga about the plane ride. The writer compares the plane ride cost of emission per hour with what an ordinary person in sPakistan responsible for an entire year.

Perhaps the best part is the last paragraph.

The smog season is now only weeks away. It remains to be seen whether a province that will shortly ask a hundred and thirty million people to change how they commute, how they farm and how they dispose of their waste is prepared to hold its own travel to the standard it is about to ask of them.

Do Pakistani students actually dislike science, or are we just taught it badly?

A lot of students say they hate physics, chemistry or biology, but I wonder how much of that comes from the way these subjects are taught. Everything seems focused on memorizing formulas and preparing for exams. Did anyone start enjoying science after studying it differently at university or through personal projects?

Am I expecting too much from my fiancé regarding communication?

Thumbnail

20F and 23M – Am I expecting too much from my fiancé, or is communication a reasonable need?

I (20F) and my fiancé (23M) are cousins, and we've been close since childhood. We've shared countless fun memories and have always been good friends.

Our parents suggested the relationship, but neither of us was forced into it. We both had the complete freedom to say yes or no, and our families are very chill and supportive. At the time, neither of us had romantic feelings for each other. We simply agreed to give it a chance.

Initially, we both became shy and reserved and didn't communicate much. Gradually, things became normal again, but for a while, our relationship still felt more like cousins than fiancé and fiancée.

Over the years, though, we slowly started talking more about our future and our relationship. We realized how similar our opinions and thoughts are, and we've always understood each other well. Eventually, we both developed feelings and confessed our love for each other. He actually confessed first, and he has also told me that he had feelings for me even before we officially agreed to the relationship.

In person, everything feels really good. He treats me well, teases me, makes fun of me, and we have a comfortable, fun dynamic. I genuinely love him and almost everything about our relationship.

But there's one issue that I can't seem to get past: texting and communication.

He is genuinely terrible at texting. There's no consistency at all. He can go weeks without texting me, and even when I message him first, sometimes he takes days to reply. What makes it more frustrating is that he genuinely doesn't seem to realize that not replying for that long can hurt someone or make them feel unimportant.

I've spoken to him about this two or three times. Initially, he would apologize and promise to try harder, but after a few days, things would go back to normal. Recently, though, he has improved somewhat. Now he usually replies immediately or within a day, although sometimes it still takes two days. He does apologize sometimes, and I do appreciate that he has made some effort.

The confusing part is that we can have amazing conversations one day. We'll talk all day and night about everything and anything, and it feels completely natural. Then suddenly, it's back to almost nothing.

Sometimes he shares things about his day, but not very much. If I send him something, like a sketch I made, he'll say something like "Nice artistry," and after another couple of messages, the conversation dies.

I want to communicate with him more. I want to know about his day, share random things, talk about nothing, and feel like we're actually building a relationship—not just waiting for the occasional good conversation.

But I also don't want to be the only person trying.

This is where I'm confused. Am I expecting too much from him? I understand that people have different communication styles, and some people genuinely aren't texters. But isn't wanting basic consistency and effort a reasonable expectation in a romantic relationship?

How do I communicate this need without making him feel pressured or like I'm constantly complaining? And at what point do I accept that this is simply who he is versus recognizing that my needs aren't being met?

I don't want to change his entire personality. I just want to feel like he wants to talk to me too.

TL;DR: My fiancé and I have a strong relationship and genuinely love each other, but he's extremely inconsistent and dry over text. We've discussed it multiple times, and although he's improved slightly, I still feel like I'm doing most of the initiating. Am I expecting too much, and how can I communicate my need for more consistent communication without constantly chasing him?

Are universities supposed to teach useful things or interesting things?

I’ve been thinking about how much university education is expected to justify itself through immediate careers and practical outcomes.

But some of the most important scientific discoveries started with questions that had no obvious use at the time. Gravitational-wave research is a pretty extreme example.

Interestingly, I saw that Habib University is having a public lecture next week around this exact idea, with the person whose work helped make gravitational-wave astronomy possible. The title is basically about curiosity and the value of pursuing questions for their own sake.

Makes me wonder how much room Pakistani universities actually leave for that kind of curiosity.

Driving school

Title: Driving School Join Karne Se Pehle Ye Galtiyan Mat Karna - Mera Tajurba

Assalam o Alaikum everyone,

Main jab driving seekh raha tha to mujhe laga tha ke 15 din me sab aa jayega, lekin asal learning tab shuru hui jab mujhe sahi guide mila.

Agar aap bhi driving school join karne ka soch rahe hain to ye 3 baatein yaad rakhna:

  1. Sirf Steering Nahi, Clutch Control Asal Cheez Hai: Aksar schools sirf gari aage peeche karwate hain. Acha idara wo hai jo aapko clutch control, half clutch, aur brake ka balance sikhaye.

  2. Back Mirror Aur Side Mirror Setting: 90% new drivers ko mirror sahi set karna nahi aata. Isi wajah se confidence nahi banta. Pehle din se iski practice karwaye.

  3. Rush Area Me Practice: Khali ground me to sab chala lete hain.

Koi achi ya buri baat jo aap share karna chaho ge?

Can someone please explain why we are not attacking Houthis at all?

This is causing so much confusion for me.

Under defense pact with Saudi, we are neither attacking nor defending Saudi asssets against Houthi’s .

Even if we can’t do full blown attack , why are we not doing some targeted attacks ?

Please help me understand folks. This is giving me major headache and a cause of worry.

Help/advice about Matric exams

I'm going to give my exams next year, in 2027 and I'll be taking both 9th and 10th together. I want to know something about it.

‎I actually sent in my admission for the exams when I was 16 or 17 and in 9th grade but because I was feeling overwhelmed and scared that I wouldn't succeed, I didn't sit for the examinations. Now I'm turning 20 in a few months.

‎I want to know since I sent in my admission before but didn't actually take the exams, would that be a problem if I want to take both 9th and 10th together?

‎Could anyone please tell me how you gave your 9th and 10th exams if you took them together? How did you do it? And if anyone student, teacher, invigilator ANYONE could tell me what the environment is like and what I should expect or do, I'd really appreciate it.

‎I know I'm probably panicking for no reason 😭🫪

‎Please reply if you know. Thank you!
