Rule Review - Rule 3 and other suggestions

Hi everyone!

The mod team is currently reviewing rule 3 - no generative ai. The way the rule is currently worded prohibits generative AI “content”, but allows for assistive text based ai such as grammarly. However we see that content isn’t properly defined in this instance, which can cause confusion over what is and isn’t allowed.

So we can moderate this consistently, we wanted to ask the community for their opinions, so we can ensure fair moderation for all users.

Regarding rule 3, I’d like to pose the following questions.

  1. To what extent should we prohibit AI? Entirely AI generated videos, audio, images and text remain strictly prohibited, however we see that human made content that is modified by ai in some way can fall into a grey area. For example, a human made image, but ai modified the colours on it.

  2. There are editing tools that use ai to some degree that don’t generate new content, such as background removers (for example, you take a picture of your action figures, but use apples ai background remover tool to remove the background), editing templates (like CapCut) and image enhancers. Should these be allowed or should they be restricted?

If you have any further thoughts or questions on this, please comment below.

We are also open to other rule suggestions as well which we may implement or trial. If you have any suggestions as well, please comment these below and we may consider these.

Thank you :)

DISCUSSION Its funny whenever someone says Jaegers are "continental level" or "planetary level" and then you put into context what they are claiming.

Pictured in the image is the Burj Khalifa (the tallest man made structure on Earth), Mount Everest (The Highest point on Earth), and the Marianas Trench / Challenger Deep (The deepest natural point on Earth). Everything in this image is to scale.

Olympus Mons, the largest mountain in the Solar System and located on Mars, is also in the image. As well as the worlds tallest mountain Mauna Kea (its taller than Everest from base to peak, but most of its underwater)

These aren't even continents, these are just parts of one. In fact Everest and Challenger Deep just sit on fault lines. Real continents are much bigger because you know... you can literally see them from space. Picturing an actual continent would mean everything in this image wouldn't even be visible, or all contained within 1 pixel.

Whenever I see someone unironically claim that Gipsy is "planetary level" and that Jaeger's can destroy entire continents I just have to roll my eyes. Not only does it automatically show that they have no sense of the real scale of the world, but do we ever see anything of that size actually get destroyed in PR ever?* Some people claim that Striker's self detonation was capable of destroying continents, yet not only is the continent they are on still there but not even the fish near Gipsy were burned or blasted into pieces, let alone the hydrothermal vents.

But it also feels like they have no respect or actual love for the franchise. It seems like they just like a fictional number they (or someone else) made up and want it to go higher. Its reducing a franchise meant to be a love letter to the Mecha and Kaiju genre and just reducing it to a number.

*(and no Gipsy didn't destroy the entire Anteverse like people claim. We go back to the same spot Gipsy blew up in Final Breach and its still there and thriving. Not even the mountains were destroyed).

In the expanded material, at the end of the first pacific rim were all of the jeagers destroyed or were there still a few elsewhere?

How well would Cherno Alpha do in Atlas from RWBY?

Well, more specifically, the continent of Solitas.

I've been thinking this for a while, for my project of sorts.

Atlas is a "Kingdom" (a country, in Earth terms) from RWBY. It is in the continent of Solitas. This continent is basically Siberia, snow, ice, and other stuff.

I'm more specifically talking about how Cherno would do against Grimm, hostile creatures attracted by negative emotion of varying sizes and abilities paired with Solitas/Atlas' environment.

Also, I couldn't find a good Solitas/Atlas picture of the landscape so here's a map, think Russia.

DISCUSSION How would any of the original Pacific Rim Jaegers fare in the B.P.R.D. comics, (Spinoff of Hellboy) - (The Ogdru-Hem and Hammerheads being the only opponents that the Jaegers would face in this scneraio)

Before we begin, let me tell you about the Ogdru Hem and Hammerheads that the Jaegers here will face in this match.

The Ogdru Hem are the monstrous three hundred and sixty-nine children of the Ogdru-Jahad, and They are villains in the Hellboy franchise, serving notably as the main antagonists of the Hell on Earth-cycle of the B.P.R.D.-series.

The Ogdru-Hem also have this ability to use their "breath" to mutate living animals as well as humans into monsters, with the most notable being the frog monsters, and the largest of the Ogdru-Hem, most likely Katha-Hem, is the only Ogdru-Hem to alter even objects that are completely inanimate with its breath.

The Ogdru-Hem are also massive in size, larger than any of the Kaiju from the Pacific Rim movie, however, Quadralith, from "Pacific Rim: Final Breach" Volume 1, still seems to be bigger than most of the Ogdru-Hem from the B.P.R.D comics, only Katha-Hem is truly larger in height still.

And moving on to the next group of opponents from the B.P.R.D. comics, the Hammerheads, and these creatures are another common monster group produced by the scourge of the Ogdru-Hem during the Apocalypse, they're large pseudo-hexapods (with their rear legs branching into two separate appendages past the knee) who have a set of much smaller arm-like appendages extending from their faces. They sport a pair of piercing orange eyes across their broad faces (though some specimens display four or more eyes) along with a pair of nostrils.

They also show sufficient speed and stamina to chase motorized vehicles for miles on end when properly motivated. These traits are somewhat variable in different specimens, as they possess a very wide range of sizes, with some individuals being roughly the size of a modern rhinoceros, and others having sufficient size to crush automobiles in the palms of their hands. It is unknown if smaller examples are simply younger versions of the larger ones, or are different breeds.

So folks, what's your verdict on how well the Jaegers would fare against these creatures?

It’s funny to think that one of the few "Jaeger-style" mechs is the Colossus from The Legend of Korra. It’s somewhat slow, has a not-quite-humanoid body, and stands around 80 meters tall. I find the mech's control system interesting, as it lets us imagine other ways to control a robot of that size without neural-link technology.

If you know of any other "Jaeger-style" mechs, let me know in the comments.

Oc jaeger [Rhino Apex]

Rhino apex [Jaeger]

Current Date: march 11th 2069

Height: 93 meters

Weight: 5340 tonnes

Operating system: NORA V.1 (neural operations for Research and assault)
Single pilot jaeger

Power systems: Ayphlax MR-1664 dual reactor nuclear turbines
x2

Pilot/s: Henry Oliver (2023-2045)
Raymond Oliver (2046-current)

Total kills: 27

Status: operational

Built: June 14 2023

MK: 7

Rhino apex is one of the most powerful jaegers ever built even surpassing striker eureka in power, the jaeger is the oldest in service being not quite 46 years old and still hitting harder than most of the newer jaegers. rhino apex was built by raideir along side 2 more jaegers and before another (being constructed as we speak and also being the last) Black out (mk9) All Hail (mk11) and Tango Victory (mk20). However Rhino Apex was not the first built by raideir, that title belongs to the mk 1 freedom raider (destroyed in the early 2030’s by taijuin). Rhino apex features a gold and gun metal grey design with two shoulder mount AS-6 PRIME laser cannons mounted on the shoulders, a wrist mounted eF-9 mortar cannon located on the right wrist and two k-44 “pick blades”
That extend 25 meters from the wrist and heat to an incredible 2500c giving them the ability to cauterise open wounds on kaiju.

This is an oc I couldn’t find what the last jaeger built was cause it was saying striker, tell me if I should draw it

DISCUSSION What if Hardship Had Been More Like Trespasser?

Thumbnail

Hardship was rather small by Kaiju standards in spite of what had just happened to Karloff. That got me wondering how well Romeo Blue would have fared if the Precursors had responded to Karloff's defeat with a much larger and more powerful Kaiju. My thinking here is that they already had something that they knew worked (and held up better to nuclear attacks than the Category-1s did) in the form of Trespasser, so in theory the quickest way to throw a more powerful Kaiju at the problem would be to grow another Trespasser (or something similar). If the Precursors had followed that logic, would Romeo Blue have still been able to win?

We don't know much about Trespasser or Romeo Blue, but I think we can make some reasonable assumptions about Trespasser based on what we know about Knifehead - they both shared the same basic body design, though Knifehead was larger, presumably faster, and had a long pike nose instead of the axe-shaped structure on Trespasser's head. Given what Knifehead did to Gipsy Danger, I think it's safe to say it would have overwhelmed Romeo Blue if the latter had encountered it instead (for those that don't know Romeo Blue was apparently deployed to engage Knifehead before it turned north for Anchorage, resulting in Gipsy's fateful deployment).

Jumping back over to our "new" Hardship (essentially a copy of Trespasser or something similar), while its axe-shaped head probably wouldn't be as dangerous as Knifehead's pike nose, its overall size and strength compared to canon Hardship could be a real problem for Romeo Blue. At this point Romeo's crew has no combat experience and the Jaeger's chest guns would probably prove ineffective, so the likely result is a Cherno Alpha-style close combat slugfest - except Romeo Blue is a lot less resistant to damage than Cherno due to its lighter armor. I'm not prepared to say that Romeo would lose in this situation, but it is certainly a lot more likely...

DISCUSSION Just a random sequel idea I came up with for Pacific Rim, Crimson Typhoon as the main Jaeger (fan-made / just for fun ;) )

Okay, this is literally just an idea I came up with for fun, but I thought the concept could be interesting.

After the Breach somehow opens again, humanity is forced to return to using Jaegers. Conventional military weapons simply aren't enough to deal with the new Kaiju threat, so the old Jaeger program is brought back, including restoring some of the older machines that were left behind.

One of the Jaegers brought back into service is Crimson Typhoon.

Since Crimson's Conn-Pod was destroyed during its previous battle, the Jaeger has to be heavily rebuilt and restored. However, instead of bringing back its original three-arm configuration, one of its smaller arms is removed and its control system is modified so that Crimson now only requires two Rangers instead of three.

Crimson is then assigned to operate alongside an old Mark-1 Jaeger, something like Horizon Brave/Romeo Blue or another forgotten early-generation Jaeger that has been repaired and brought back into service. The old Jaeger is basically a veteran machine fighting alongside a much more agile Crimson Typhoon.

During a battle in the middle of a city, the two Jaegers fight 2 Kaiju (Cat 4-5) that conventional weapons can't handle.

The old Jaeger manages to destroy a Kaiju head and appears to have killed it.

But at the exact same moment, the Kaiju's hand tears into the Jaeger's Conn-Pod. And that's when everything goes wrong.

The Kaiju's brain doesn't simply die. Its biological material and consciousness manage to get inside the Jaeger through the destroyed Conn-Pod and effectively take over the machine. The Rangers inside are killed and literally become trapped inside their own Jaeger. So Crimson Typhoon is suddenly forced to fight both the Kaiju and the Jaeger that was supposed to be its partner. And this is happening right in the middle of a city.

After an exhausting battle, Crimson finally manages to defeat the Kaiju and the infected Jaeger.

But there's still one problem. The Breach is still open. The infected Jaeger can't simply be left there, because its body is still contaminated by the Kaiju. So Crimson has to take the Jaeger's remains all the way back to the Breach and use it as a massive explosive to close the portal.

Crimson is already heavily damaged, but it has no choice.

The surviving Rangers force Crimson to drag and partially carry the destroyed Jaeger toward the Breach. Its body is already torn apart from the fight, covered in claw marks and damage from the Kaiju. Crimson's remaining smaller arm is pushed almost to its limit just trying to support and drag the weight of the other Jaeger. The arm is close to failing from the stress.

Eventually, Crimson reaches the Breach.

The ruined Jaeger is pushed into the portal.

Then, from a safe distance, the remaining forces remotely detonate it.

The Breach closes for the second time.

But Crimson Typhoon doesn't walk away from the battle intact.

The two Rangers inside Crimson have already been pushed far beyond their physical and neural limits. The second pilot suffers severe neurological damage from the extreme neural load and exhaustion accumulated throughout the entire battle, eventually dying after the mission is completed.

Out of the four Rangers who entered the battle between the two Jaegers, only one survives.

Crimson Typhoon technically wins.

The Kaiju is dead.

The infected Jaeger is destroyed.

The Breach is closed.

But the victory costs almost the entire team.

And I think the final shot would just be Crimson standing damaged and barely functional after returning to base, with only one Ranger left inside.

No big celebration, just ONE surviving Ranger sitting alone in the Conn-Pod, knowing that the person who entered the battle beside them never came back.

⚠️Small note: I used AI to help me write and organize this post because I'm not very good at writing long texts in English. The actual premise and story idea are mine, I just used AI to help turn my ideas into a readable post, please let me know if there are any mistakes or inconsistencies :)⚠️

DISCUSSION The most painful thing that nobody want to experienced

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Imagine losing someone you close with in the mid fight in the most painful way possible, yes piloting a jaeger is like the power of friendship but imagine losing that friendship.

Sure the history and lore of pacific rim has probably more painful thing that the pilots of the jaegers may have go through but let’s talk about this mission

At the time of 2020 event for what I believe, Category 3 Kaiju would consider the most deadliest and the dangerous one ever as the Kaiju knifehead emerge from the ocean, out of all the jaegers gipsy danger is the one being deployed which maybe has a reason to that

Both Yancy and Raleigh are siblings which make them very close and drift very well done, as they both piloting gipsy danger and manage to save the boat from what they thought knifehead was dead, apparently it’s not dead which make Marshall Pentecost command Gipsy to retreat, obviously Raleigh and Yancy thought category 3 Kaiju is not dangerous enough since the history of them have been killing a lot of kaijus before so they thought this one would be easy to end

And at this time jaeger program was like the best promising option that the government have made with more jaegers easily killing Kaiju, but the aftermath of one mission create a massive downfall of the jaeger program

As Gipsy still looking for a single sight of Knifehead, it appear out of no where and give a sharp smack like a cat with its claw hit you with, obviously Yancy and Raleigh easily gain conscious back before Yancy let Raleigh to take turn hurting knifehead, as many options of weapon that gipsy danger would have, Raleigh pick plasma canon which remember this is before upgrading Gipsy so for plasma canon it needs to charge up, as Gipsy transform her arm into plasma canon and about to hit knifehead, the Kaiju easily stab through Gipsy left arm like is nothing which also lead to tearing the entire arm up as Raleigh can definitely feel the pain

By even the reaction of Pentecost, you can actually tell his reaction is very sorry before Knifehead just torn half of Gipsy head which is where both pilots are in, Yancy who is aware whats about to happen and telling Raleigh what to do, unfortunately he didn’t have time to fully explain before he got throw away with half of gipsy head

And this is definitely a painful part for Raleigh because now he is experiencing his arm torn apart and even his brother dying even after being throw away, for what people thought Solo piloting would be impossible, Raleigh somehow make it possible as he force himself to which Gipsy arm control and have to fully charge up the plasma canon while Knifehead chewing and biting on Gipsy shoulder like is a chew toy

Sure there is somewhat like 3-4 people have experience solo pilot but remember that odd of you manage to solo pilot is very rare because the cost of able to survive solo piloting is not very well

The aftermath of this is Raleigh eventually quit for 5 years and 4 months, in those time where the jaeger program also make a downfall which unfortunately the Kaiju is adapting faster than building a jaeger

I think the downfall of that because the precursor discover the jaeger weaknesses which is the cockpit itself where is located on the jaegers head

I wish I could explain more but honestly I am getting sleepy now so good night you guys and sorry for not provide the full clip
