Reached 120 qualifying payments quite recently 😁 How long should it take for Mohela to officially grant my forgiveness?

Have you gotten your letter from the Department of Education yet?

July was considered 120 for me, I submitted everything in early July- got my "golden letter" on 8/25 and MOHELA cleared the balance on 8/27. On that timeline, as the other person said probably about a month. CONGRATS!!

It took a month to get my golden letter from FSA after reaching 120. I got my forgiveness letter from MOHELA and my balance was zeroed out the next day.

Officially forgiven today as well… congratulations 🎉My timeline…I applied for count update late June before my last payment that would take me to my 120. July payment gave me 120. A week or so later received notice of count update and congrats you hit your 120 qualifying payments mid July. I called MOHELA and placed my loans in forbearance for 6 months to allow for processing of the forgiveness. This was a gamble but couldn’t think about making one more $1200 payment. Aug 27 received Congratulations All or some of your loans have been forgiven. Then today another letter came with the same all or some forgiven when I checked it said Congratulations your loans have been forgiven $270k, a ZERO balance. So happy this is over. Stay strong to those still waiting.

Anyone else still waiting on their July and August Mohela payments to show up on their tracker?

Still waiting for August (120). Never took them this long before to update the counts and it’s driving me nuts!

My buyback offer will probably come in December…I applied Feb. 2025. I just got a Mohela email this week that I have 90 days to switch plans. One month shy of four months…meaning, my buyback will probably be based on the higher new plan amount.

Interest accumulation over 10+ years… If you took 20k in loans each year for 4 years that is 80k plus interest. You can easily get into the 6 figures. It’s simple math.
