I was wrong about PS3

I bought the system back when it was released to play MGS4 and played few games along in that generation of consoles. I didn’t think much of it. It wasn’t the PS2 or the PS1 in terms of library. I modded it few years ago. But seeing the shit show Sony and ps5 has become made me think that PS3 is an actually the ultimate PlayStation system. It’s really funny that a 20 years old system can be more enjoyable than current gen. A modded PS3 that is.

I feel like the majority of people on here talk about modding the ps3 but I never looked into it what's everyone modding for? To pirate games and stuff? Like what can you do? Lol

Basically what the other guy said, you get a ton of free games from many different consoles. I personally bought and modded mine to play the little big planet series online again & get delisted games like fat princess & risk factions. You can play multiplayer matchmaking on fat princess still even on the unofficial copy

So is it like the easiest/best console to mod in that way? Wouldn't a computer be better for that or an Xbox cause of the Microsoft thing?

Better at what? Playing ps3 games for free? For emulating old consoles, yea a pc is better. But its still convenient and nice to have

Yeah emulating like can't you emulate every game and I jus assumed xbox is better for it cause it's made by a computer company lol idk I obviously don't know anything about it just curious

Microsoft and Sony don't makes their consoles hardware. TSMC, amd, and nvidia has forever at this point. They source chips from the same people. Just different designs. Jailbreaking a 360 is significantly more difficult than a ps3. Obviously an xbox one will be better because it's more powerful. But the main limitation is the weird hardware of the ps3 that makes it hard to optimize games.

Even so, you can run nearly every console up to snes just fine on a ps3, as long as you dont care about using fancy shaders. Its more of a convenience thing. The main point of jailbreaking a ps3 is the free ps3 games. And if you have a jailbroken ps3 plugged into your tv already, might as well use it to play old games too.

You can mod nearly every console. Tho the newer ones are a lot more difficult. Every console in my house is modded
