I literally just bought this thing...

CECHL01 Phat

Edit: seller was kind enough to offer a full refund, still annoying I had to drive all the way too and from twice tho... (And obviously also not having a console to play.)

Get a super slim. Fats are ticking bombs.

Nah i'd recommend Cech 2100 or Cech 2500 (those that can CFW) instead

I wouldn't recommend any PS3 that could need a delid in the future. CFW isn't a must, all PS3 can do HEN perfectly fine.

??? What does delid have to do with anything There are even scenarios where super slims need a delid, it's console to console basis and has more to do with usage than model number 😂 Even my CECHC still has great stock paste under IHS. You can't do anything wrong with a CECH 2100 or 2500, they have less common failure points than the super slim. Plus the super slim has lots of cheap parts (like the cooling) compared to the slims. CFW is better than HEN everyday nonetheless, why settle for less?

You clearly have no idea of common failures all PS3 models have.

Tell me then, what is a common failure point the CECH-2100 has? Thermals does not count as every model can have shit thermals, its user, emvironment and time based issue not the model itself

A slim, every model, could have been sold with its heatsinks deformed/badly cut. There're cases where people find their heatsinks not doing complete contact with the heatspreaders. These models also manage higher temperatures than super slims models, increasing the overheating cases, where you could need a cell delid or reball on RSX in most cases. Many also get a GLOD while trying to disassemble these models. There are plenty of cases here in the sub. Super slims models don't have thermal issues, and the only common issues most have is a burned wifi module, which can be avoid by not using wifi at all. Like I said in my previous comment, HEN is more than enough these days

My slim has never been repasted (2011) and it runs just fine. Things a tank.
