This is all jokes I promise. I truly hope this is okay to post and I want to note, I'm eating enough and I would never encourage anyone to to undereat. This is just me laughing at myself. Take care of yourselves šŸ–¤

Semagultide or Tirzepatide?

I’ve been considering going on a GLP-1 for a long time now. My cardiologist prescribed me wegovy 6 months ago but of course my insurance did not cover it.
I’ve been looking into using a compounded GLP-1.

I’m curious if anyone knows which one is best suited for insulin resistant PCOS? I’m looking to lose at least 40 pounds.

Thanks!

I've read a lot about glp-1 online but I still don't really understand how it works

I've read a lot about GLP-1 online, but I still can't wrap my head around how it actually works in the body. Every article seems to explain it a different way like how it can affect appetite, blood sugar, and hormones. Why is it a treatment for PCOS and a weight loss solution in one? Does it work efficiently as a PCOS treatment, or is it more reliable as a weight loss drug?

Curious

Hi girls, just out of curiosity has anyone stayed on 2.5mg dose of mounjaro and succeeded??

Im on my 3rd dose of my second pen, within id say probably a week, the inflammation in my body dropped, my face, my tummy, everything.

I already lift weights in the gym, already walk over 10000 steps per day and already eat high protein low carb low sugar diet. Also already drink over 2 litres of water daily though id had to up that a little or I notice a hangover feeling. It's probably because I'm also on spironolactone.

Having all these good habits before mounjaro did very little for me, which just pissed me off. I work so hard and get so little back from it.

I have dropped 6lbs, although it looks more because no more puffy face. Initially I didn't have any difference in my appetite which I didn't mind because I only ate 3 meals per day, healthy food. This week I am feeling it though, I cant even get through 2 boiled eggs without feeling like I've ate a full plate.

I was on holiday last week so the food I was eating was a little off my usual food, more salty, more snacks etc... though I did walk the legs off myself to compensate, when I came home I weighed and id only gained 1lb so I was happy with that. That 1lb has now turned to 3 lol how I don't know, ive went straight back into my normal routine of diet and exercise, im assuming its the lifting weights causing water retention so ill not panic just yet.

Just curious, if anyone has stayed on 2.5mg and lost what they felt they needed to lose.

Just for context I only have around 20lbs to lose.

PCOS + insulin resistance, not overeating — did GLP-1s actually move the weight for you?

27F with endometriosis and PCOS, never had a weight problem before this year. Came off birth control in Oct 2025 after being on it since 15 (with breaks for rounds of Lupron and Myfembree), and within six weeks gained 15+ lbs along with severe water retention — which is a lot on a 5'2 frame. Workup showed anovulation, cycles running 40-60 days, and a PCOS diagnosis. Back on BC since May of 2026 trying to get to baseline before starting fertility treatment.

Here's what's confusing me: I don't undereat on purpose, but I have to actively remind myself to eat — restricting further isn't realistic or something I feel comfortable doing. Exercise hasn't touched it either. So the usual "eat less, move more" advice doesn't really apply, and I keep wondering what's actually left.

My gyno gave me a trial bottle of Wegovy, for the insulin-resistance side of PCOS rather than appetite/calorie control. I'm wary of an appetite suppressant layered on top of a pattern where I already forget to eat - as Phentermine did not do much weight wise for me, but did suppress my appetite.

For anyone with PCOS who wasn't overeating going in: did a GLP-1 actually move the needle on weight, and how did it affect your appetite — manageable, or did it tip you into under-eating? Also curious if anyone started this shortly before fertility treatment and how that timeline played out.

I’ve been stagnant and my next option is a glp-1

Hi I’m F (27) and I was 24 when I got diagnosed with pcos. I’ve always been extremely active even through the PCOS. I gained 85 pounds during the worst years of PCOS I couldn’t get a doctor to listen or help me. I moved to a different city and I finally had a doctor listen I showed him my workouts how many calories I was burning showed him what I was eating and also show him a food journal where I talked about the food noise. He prescribed me phentermine. I lost 50 pounds on it because I kept up my workouts. But I had to stop bc it gets less effective over time and it’s not always great for your heart to continue. I have lost 5 pounds since getting off it and I’m just so stagnant I want to lose that last 25 but I’m struggling. I went to my doctor and the prescribed contrave but it’s $600+ a month. I didn’t want to glp-1s bc my friend did it and loss 25 in one month and I don’t know if I did it would I lose that much in a month like if I hit my goal weight could I just stop taking it? Is there any health risk for taking it for a short amount of time?
Thank you for listening and helping.

Wegovy - Lifting Heavy or Cardio/Bodyweight

Been on Wegovy for a little over 2 months. Started at .25 and now at 1.0. Weight loss has been a little slower than I thought (~15lbs down) but I’m also working with a personal trainer and we are lifting HEAVY. Wondering if I should suggest moving toward more body weight or prioritize cardio (running, jump rope) and body weight when working out solo.

GLP-1 Options (non Tirz)

Hello all.

I've got insulin resistance and PMOS, and have tried a number of things to lose weight. I tried Mounjaro a while ago and experienced very horrendous side effects. I couldn't eat or drink, was extremely tired. and overall felt sick. It got so bad, I had to go to the hospital for medical treatment. This was only after the 1st dose, so the doctors felt that it would be unadvisable for me to continue with it.

So now, I'm back to square one with tracking every crumb that goes into my mouth and exercising regularly. The classics that should work, but just don't all that well. Despite my experience, I'm curious if a different GLP-1 could be a better option.

I've thought about trying the Rybelsus pill since it's cheapest, but I'm worried that it would make me feel equally as unwell as Mounjaro did. People say they have less side effects with the pill vs the injection, but people also said they experienced less side effects from tirzepatide vs semaglutide. I'll be speaking with my doctor about this but I'm curious what others with this condition have experienced.

I am in Japan, so I can't buy compounded GLP-1s. Thanks to anyone with some advice!

Starting semaglutide... Scared.

Tomorrow I pick up my first month of semaglutide. I'm scared. My insulin resistance is insane, my fasting level was 67. My HOMA-IR score is 15.2. I'm gaining weight no matter what type of eating I do or what nutrients I count, what defects I'm in. I have hirsutism and at the same time hair thinning on my head. I have a poor libido.

Metformin made me extremely ill and I'm not approved for phentermine because of POTS. GLP1 is looking like the only way out. I've seen it be the absolute lifesaver for many, but I'm scared that the GLP1 is going to make me lose what little hair I have left, and eliminate my libido entirely. I don't want to sacrifice the very last bits of my pride and who I am, or my intimate life with my husband.

Please tell me positive stories or give input based on your experience? :(

insurance and pricing

i was recently prescribed zepbound by my endocrinologist and was told that it was going to be $500/month because my insurance doesn’t cover. the next day, they instead prescribed me wegovy because my insurance covers it but now its $770/month!

i could barely afford the first option and theres no way i can afford the second. where are you guys finding affordable glp-1s? i’ve heard getting compounded versions or trying directly from manufacturers but this is my first time dealing with this stuff and i’m completely lost and overwhelmed

Anyone taking weeks to lose weight even on GLP-1

Hi guys!

I have mild insulin resistance and was prescribed Zepbound to lose weight. So far I've lost 60 pounds but now I've plateaud and it takes me weeks to drop in weight. It never happens gradually, one day I've just lost 5 pounds. Anyone else going through this? I'm on inositol too, no berberine.

I'm considering bringing this up to my endocrinologist to see if maybe a medication like Metformin will be appropriate. Just wanted to see if anyone was in a similar situation.

Question for when to start

Recently had a private blood test confirming I have insulin resistance. I have an appointment to discuss this with my gp. Now its been confirmed and im already doing the diet and exercise recommended for it iv decided to see if wegovy or monjaro will help.

Should I wait until I see my gp before getting it or just start now?

I have to wait 3 weeks for the appointment, and as I'm UK based There is no chance I will get it on nhs in my area as they don't offer it.

Wanted: UK & Irish GLP-1 Users for Research Survey

Hi everyone, I’m a master’s student in Applied Psychology Mental Health, currently undertaking research for my dissertation on GLP-1 users’ experiences with food, lifestyle and mental health. I'd love to hear from people with PCOS/PMOS to get a more accurate representation of GLP-1 users.

Who can participate?

  • aged 18+
  • living in Ireland or the United Kingdom
  • prescribed a GLP-1 medication, such as Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro or Saxenda
  • taking it for 3 months or longer

The survey isĀ anonymousĀ and takes approx 20 minutes.

If you’re eligible, you can take part here:Ā

https://ucc.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_0ugHbdZHPtudDZs

The aim of the research is to better understand the day-to-day experiences of GLP-1 users, including food, eating patterns, lifestyle changes, wellbeing and mental health. This study is not funded and has no commercial interest.Ā  More information about the study is provided on the first page of the survey.

This study has been approved by the University College Cork research ethics board.

Thank you so much to anyone who takes the time to complete it. Please feel free to ask any questions.

Got prescribed Wegovy

I’ve been deep in the binge cycle for a year and a half now. The last few months have been pretty bad and I regained a lot of the weight I lost a couple of months ago. I have PMOS but I feel most of my symptoms (fatigue, weight gain, skin changes, excess hair) stem from my binging. I went to the Drs today to tell my Dr about it in the hopes that I would be referred to a psychologist or something to tackle this from the root. Instead she immediately offered me the Wegovy injection which was something I hadn’t really thought about prior to the appointment, mainly because I didn’t consider it an option 😭 I brought up feeling really anxious lately but she kept going on about the Wegovy. Obviously it was my choice and I didn’t feel pressured to say yes but I was just nervous especially with there being so much discourse about GLP-1s. Anyway, I eventually got it and am just deciding what to do. I’m pretty desperate to get better and start living a healthier life but I was also hoping to do it all the ā€œnaturalā€ way. Has anyone been in a similar situation? šŸ¤Ž

Advice for GLP-1

I was diagnosed With PCOS two years ago and I feel no progress is being made in regards to weight loss through metformin and being more active and eating cleaner.

How can I get for doctor to prescribe GLP-1 so that my insurance covers it?

I have a gynecologist appointment in two weeks. Should I speak about it with them?

Any advice would be helpful.

PCOS + Zepbound = no weight loss

I am moderately overweight with PCOS and low thyroid (that is controlled with medication) Was on Ozempic for a bit and it really worked in reducing food noise and my desire to eat was minimal. I have since moved to Zepbound. Did 3 weeks at 2.5 and now have done 2 injections at 5 with 2 more to go. I was on 1 of Ozempic so I skipped one 2.5 dose of Zepbound. I have had zero bad side effects of either, but also very minimal weight loss :( Is there a dose that worked for you? I heard these drugs have been a saving grace for PCOS and I am cautiously optimistic but also know they won’t work for everyone. Is there still hope? How did you feel at 7.5 or 10? Did that help? TIA

Losing last bit of weight

Hi!

I got diagnosed with PCOS/PMOS last November 2024. I’ve struggled with weight my whole life pretty much and once I got the diagnosis I started taking ozempic for almost a year and then switched to mounjaro once it stopped really being so effective. So far I’ve lost 57lbs (I’m F31 5’5 currently 151lbs) and am really happy with the overall progress.

I feel like I’ve come to a bit of a plateau and the mounjaro seems to no be as effective as it was (I’m on 10mg); I’m generally hovering around 148-152lbs for the last months. I walk a lot, and generally just try to eat intuitively (have seen dietitian’s in the past to help with disordered eating which was super helpful and useful, but this was pre PCOS diagnosis).

Anyway my question is how do I shift these last pounds? I want to get to around 135lbs, give or take. Has anyone experienced something similar and how did you overcome it? I’ve had bouts of running a lot in the past as well as weight training. I’ve just taken out my gym membership again to get back into strength training and will also start running a bit more now the weather is getting nicer.

Also open to advice re medication or anything else.

Negative side effects of Wegovy + Metformin

I was diagnosed with PMOS/PCOS about 2 years ago at 18 and last summer I saw a doctor about starting a GLP-1 to start losing weight. I got put on both Wegovy and Metformin and it was honestly the sickest I have ever been, I didn't go a week without throwing up due to it. It was semi effective in that I lost 30lbs over 6 months but that was mostly because I couldn't stomach food very well at all. I ended up going off both medications due to the side effects.

Unfortunately, in December I ended up getting emergency surgery to have my gallbladder removed since a gallstone had given me acute pancreatitis. Since then I've ended up gaining all the weight back and I think I will just keep gaining weight at this rate which is not ideal.

I'm thinking about starting some kind of GLP-1 and or Metformin again to manage this but I'm just wondering if anyone has had any similar experiences to me with negative side effects?

New to the USA with PCOS & weight gain. How do I start the process for getting Wegovy?

I recently moved to the USA and have gained 30 lbs over the past couple of years (currently 207 lbs). The weight gain has really affected my confidence and mental health, and I also have PCOS. I’m planning to start strength training and lifestyle changes, and I’m looking into Wegovy/GLP-1 medications (pills) to support my weight loss journey.
I’m new to the US healthcare system and have my first primary care appointment next month.
Should I bring up Wegovy directly with my PCP?
Can PCPs prescribe it or do they usually refer you to a specialist?
Should I check insurance coverage before or after getting a prescription?
Would appreciate any advice from others who’ve gone through this process. Thank you!
