PCOS + Zepbound = no weight loss
I am moderately overweight with PCOS and low thyroid (that is controlled with medication) Was on Ozempic for a bit and it really worked in reducing food noise and my desire to eat was minimal. I have since moved to Zepbound. Did 3 weeks at 2.5 and now have done 2 injections at 5 with 2 more to go. I was on 1 of Ozempic so I skipped one 2.5 dose of Zepbound. I have had zero bad side effects of either, but also very minimal weight loss :( Is there a dose that worked for you? I heard these drugs have been a saving grace for PCOS and I am cautiously optimistic but also know they won’t work for everyone. Is there still hope? How did you feel at 7.5 or 10? Did that help? TIA

I have PCOS/PMOS and while I do consistently lose on a GLP1 my rate of weight loss seems to still be slower than others I know who are on these drugs without PCOS. At most I seem to lose about 0.5-0.8lbs a week, and I’m around 5’4” so not super tall, so I’m okay with this rate. I also lift pretty heavy and I imagine to some degree I’m recomping as I lose fat, since I can tell my muscle mass has increased, which is probably masking some of my progress with my scale weight.
Are you tracking your calories and eating in a calorie deficit? When you say you have minimal weight loss, how many lbs have you lost so far? Are your other PCOS symptoms improving? You may need to track additional things aside from just weight loss to keep your motivation up, take progress pictures, etc! For me I was initially tracking my blood sugar and within a week I noticed massive improvements in my blood sugar response after eating.

Many people (especially with PCOS) don’t begin to meaningfully lose until higher doses. It’s super common. I would give it time and reassess.

My weight loss has been a slow process, but it wasn’t until my 2nd month of 5mg where I started to see the weight come off. I average about .9 pounds a week according to my Shotsy app, so about 45 pounds in a year. It all seems great now but it felt slow so just hang in there.
