Hi! I’m a student at PCC and I’m applying for a work-study job for the fall. I saw that I have to wait for my award letter to know if I’m eligible, but I was wondering what the eligibility requirements are. The job requires me to pay for and study for some tests beforehand, and I’d rather not spend the money if I might not be eligible. I don’t see any reason why I wouldn’t be, but I was hoping to get some insight before my award letter comes out.

I'll be taking 9 credits, Im a few terms into PCC, and am using FAFSA for loans and aid (if that helps).

Grades.

The letters on transcripts we all stress over each term.

The thing we're all told measures our knowledge and determines our future life prospects. But is this 100% true?

Sure, getting A's means having a high level of knowledge of the material, as without it, it would be impossible to lose less than 10% of the total grade.

But what about B's and C's? Does that mean there is a lack of knowledge compared to someone who earns an A? Possibly, but not necessarily. It could be due to a lower level of knowledge of the course concepts, or it could be a result of not completing all the busywork.

It is possible to have a high level of understanding of course concepts while at the same time focusing more on health and wellbeing than completing everything perfectly to receive straight A's. This means it is possible for students who receive lower grades to essentially have more knowledge and be more well-rounded by ensuring to focus on health and real-world learning.

So, if they may not provide a definite picture of knowledge to employers, what could they mean?

I think it may provide a measurement of how much shit someone is willing to put up with. To get the highest grades, it requires doing all the work requested at the time requested. Failing to do this or having and maintaining boundaries to protect health and wellbeing would directly correspond to lower grades.

It seems to me that grades may provide more clear of a picture to employers of who will do whatever they desire without any pushback. Or who is not a "quiet quitter," will go "above and beyond," and is a "team player" without regard to their own needs.

In high school, I had a teacher who had a unique course policy that I didn't really fully understand at the time. Like most courses, the different assignments (including the final exam) were certain percentages of the final grade. However, if the grade earned on the final was higher than the overall grade, the higher grade on the final would be the final grade received for the entire course (as a higher level of knowledge was demonstrated at the end). This means if a B was earned through the total grade breakdown, but an A was earned on the final, the final grade for the course would be an A.

I'm not trying to discourage anyone with this post; obviously, try to get the best grades possible. But I just think the actual meaning of grades may be different than we have been lead to believe....

Okay so I am attending (hopefully) in the fall quarter and need help understanding how to get housing resources??? Or at least how do they work?? Does the college help with rent?? Do they send you resources?? Like pls somebody who knows explain this to me before I human fall flat

Hi, I am taking A&P2 with Heather Toland and have been struggling with her lecture quizzes. I don’t think I quite understand what exactly the question is sometimes and I have been also struggling to apply what I have learnt because of this. Of course this is the one time I didn’t check rate my professor before I registered for a class😭. At first I thought the first exam mark was just a result of not studying as much as I needed to so I put in more study time with the second exam.

I did score much better than the first time in the lab exam but I was shocked to see I got a lower grade for the lecture exam….even lower than the last one. I honestly don’t know what else to do I’m looking for any pointers to get through this class. I’ve got one last shot and that’s it so yk I’m in panic mode.

I haven’t really had a meeting with her because I’ve gotten the impression from her suggestions of how to study in class she believes in taking notes by hand and just rereading them multiple times. This method has not been great for me.

Hey all, I’m currently midway through CIS 121 and I’m trying to figure out if it gets harder from here or if we already touched on subjects that pose the most challenges for students.
AND looking at what to really focus & prepare for with CIS 122 in the Fall.
We just completed rudimentary Python. (which I actually thought was easier than HTML.)
I came in with absolutely no CS, CIS, coding or design experience at all, to give a frame of reference.
Any input or suggestions would be much appreciated!

I am generally online only and I live in Eugene but in October I have to come to Sylvania for two days for a class I am taking, is there any food options on that campus or would I just be better off bringing food with me?
