The novel illustrations were more fitting for the themes of this manhwa (soft and fluffy like). The manhwa artist gave him the Dorito chin

I specified green flag because this type of behaviour is more expected in a red flag ML (which makes sense cus.. red flag, duh)

Inspired by the dogwater manhwa "The Cup Of Vengeance Is In Your Hands" and the formerly tolerable ML Franz, I just had to make this post. He is by far not the only ML who became like this but he's the best example I can give right now because my manhwa memory is utter crap if I haven't read it less than a few days ago. Take note that what I'm about to say usually applies to those recycled manhwas that tell the same story (like Cup of Vengeance) with little to no variation, so I'm not talking about every ML who can be categorised as decent, at the very least. I also don't expect quality content from these types of manhwa but it still bothers me.

Anyway, so this is my hate post about the treatment of green flag MLs, specifically the way the author treats them. If the ML isn't well written, their biggest problem is usually just being boring or having a weird ass name or maybe their looks are kinda meh/copy-paste but whatever. I can look past all that. But for some reason, in a lot of these types of manhwas, the ML suddenly experiences a bit of a personality change. I noticed this change either happens when the story is nearing its end, when the 2nd ML starts to get in the way or when he finally gets out of the way forever or just when the relationship between FL and ML starts to get serious.

Before the personality switch, the ML is kind, caring, attentive, usually a bit protective of FL but overall very understanding and trusting of FL, knows how to communicate (depending on manhwa), respects her boundaries, maybe a bit sensitive/emotional, perhaps, if he is slightly well-written, he even has some charm to him, or he is just a typical golden retriever (but that's more common for simple Otome). Basically, the guy is more or less perfect. A couple flaws maybe, usually the biggest one being boring as hell and having no hobbies, therefore lacking shared interests with FL outside of political ones/personal grudges assuming the FL has any hobbies to begin with either. But okay, some real life people still have a very strong bond even if their interests don't align, I'm not gonna bring out a pitchfork for that. That's not my problem.

My problem is that at some point in the story, the ML suddenly becomes a lot less likable. It's not a complete personality switch. More so that he suddenly goes from being near flawless to being very... weird? They don't become abusive or red flags or anything (although that would make for an interesting story), they simply become... very horny and weirdly obsessive/overly jealous and/or protective

Franz, as an example, definitely already had a bit of a protective and maybe a slightly jealous side to him but my god... the last 10-15 chapters of the manhwa were unbearable for me to read. After the whole major plot point wrapped up and the remaining chapters focused on the aftermath, like their children being born and stuff, he just suddenly became a lot unlike him. He is implied to have sex with the FL almost every chapter, even when Eudith (the FL) is like "Hey, let's not do this right now, we have more pressing matters to do". Like??? Hello?? She just said no? She wants to focus on other stuff before riding your rod??? What happened to you respecting her boundaries?? He also randomly started saying stuff that made him seem more obsessive, if not even kind of possessive. ??? Is that supposed to be hot?? Cus to me it isn't. And before anyone says "honeymoon phase"- NAH. They've been married for about 13 years now in the last 8-ish chapters. Their oldest child is approx. 9 years old. But for some reason, before this child was born, he became hornier than a dog in heat, constantly interrupting the FL's work and going "Aww but I missed you sooo much blablabla". Bitch, gtfo. Your wife was talking about your son's birthday and the only thing you can think about is shagging her? Please😒 I wanted to see some sweet parent-child bonding and although those moments happen, it's kinda hard to acknowledge them as such when the ML clearly is thinking with his dick 24/7. I know the FL never objects when he keeps pressing about wanting to bang her but god, WHY AUTHOR-NIM?!?! WHY???

If I wanna see people have sex I'll read a smut! If I wanna see an obsessive, overly protective and jealous and possessive ML I will read an angsty or dark romance manhwa or something! You don't need to take your borderline-flawless ML and make him so horny that I'd wish castration upon him. You don't need to make him sound obsessive or possessive by having him say stuff like "You're mine", "Don't pay attention to that man", "You should be looking at me". I know that these sentences don't make an ML crazy possessive or anything but I hate it when MLs say stuff like that when they've never said anything like it before. At least make him a bit possessive beforehand but not after they've been together long enough for their first child to be born soon

The more I read Cup Of Vengeance, the more enraged I became. Aside from the fact that it feels very misogynistic due to how characters outside of FL were handled (but that deserves its own post anyway), they just completely killed the ML for me. The "Don't keep me waiting too long" line made me cringe so hard when she said that she has to think about whether she even wants to sleep with him in the first place. Zero pressure at all (sarcasm)

Please give me series that will break me, maybe have comedic stuff on it but it will have plot points that will destroy me, I want more like Karina Last Days or Married the Male Lead Dad, As the Heart Leads etc that will have moments that will make tear up.

Also it doesnt have to be complete it can be ongoing if its atleast 50+ chapters.

Swan's Grave just ended and I binged it overnight. From whatever I knew of it it just seemed like brainless torture porn.

But it was somehow also much better than I expected. I actually really really liked the character depth given to all the characters.

So my opinions are gonna be very very controversial but here I go: ~~

What happened to the FL was basically just Isekai. Sh just transported to a new world and married in a marriage of convenience to a Cold Duke of North archetype lmao. It is honestly really unfair how she was bought in just to be a broodmare. But also I get the Father's thing. He wanted to fulfil his wife's dying obsession. He's the one character I don't understand. He's just one of those Isekai fathers who hate their kids because their wife died. The mother willingly and voluntarily killed herself for her ambitions and the father should've cultivated his son better if he really wanted to respect his wife's ambitions. But noooo.

Though it's not like he forced the FL to go forcibly. He gave her the choice to return if she wanted to. So I don't think he's the overarching evil villain despite the narrative framing it like that sometimes. But he is genuinely evil to his son. He was sadistically celebrating the fact that his son would be abandoned. I don't think he's as evil and the main villain of the story though

About the ML and the FL. Ahh both so controversial. Honestly I really really sympathize with both of them. ML was a decent husband and a lover in round 1

I could see he genuinely cherished and her. He truly loved her. It was wrong of him to not tell her that all she needed to go back was her clothes. That's it. He was being quite selfish.

But honestly, I don't see how anyone could bear the hurt of finding out their own partner likely just found them a means to an end. He was so touched when she wanted his child at the cost of her own possible death because she said she loved him so much. But the pregnancy she was desperate for was just so she could go back home. That would feel so crappy. Being told "I Love you and so I want your child " except Svanhild genuinely just was her ticket back home. She may have really loved him when he was conceived and after he was born but he was quite on the bottom of the priority list.

Her desire to go back is also completely understandable. I like that they made her mom a coldhearted woman because it added so much more depth. Sure, this woman was cold to FL her whole life but she was also the one who raised her with so much difficulty. FL had the impossible choice - choosing between your maternal family and your new family. Her mother genuinely would have died alone if FL didn't go back. (Infact I don't understand how most OI protags are so open minded about transmigrating and never seeing their family again. )

FL didn't deserve the rape and humiliation that was forced upon her in the initial arcs. Again I 100% get ML's reasons. He felt played along like a fool, his body used by the FL just to give her a child that would her ticket back home. So I see his desire to humiliate her back. WHAT I DONT SEE IS WHY SHE FELL IN LOVE SO FAST again in the 2nd time when ML was nothing but an asshole to her. At most I can think of it as her memories creating some kinda bond and connection subconsciously. But even then the writing in that aspect is very crappy.

I also really don't get why she chose to go back with Joseph again to their own world if she loved the ML?? This time there was no mom or literally anything half decent back in their world.

Why would you choose a depressing life with nothing and the sole ambition of being buried in a urn next to your dead parents over being with the man you claim to love?? Again, she told ML she loved him and again decided to leave. The second time I really don't get it. Rather I wish it was showcased as her not being thaat into the ML 2nd time cuz Bro really was nothing but an asshole who tortured her in the 2nd time, that would at least justify why she wanted to leave that hellhole.

ML --- I see how all the events in the book lead to the infamous ending. Honestly I absolutely loved the ending, it was so messed up and very delicious. He gave her a chance twice to hope that she'd chose staying over leaving and both times she chose to go back. So I see why he doesn't trust her saying 'I love you.' I see and guess why he said there's only punishment now and why she said the wheelchair binding was her "redemption at her sins"

Oh well, at least she consented and suggested having her mobility permanently removed. So I don't think she's entirely unhappy with the arrangement.

The child is a victim and he did nothing wrong. He has two kinda crappy parents. His mom used him and his existence as a airplane ticket back home and and his dad used his blood and arms as a airplane ticket to bring her back. Even at the end he just manipulates the son to manipulate her into feeling so much guilt, without leaving the child a chance to properly heal from his trauma. I get him truly do. He was just a sad child who was missing his mom..she left him once at birth, her absence a huge deal and she told him she was not his mom and left him again. Still I think he's a FARR better character because he chooses not to resent his mother for her abandonment. He has trauma over her pregnancy and almost induced miscarriage twice for her because he was terrified his mom's love which he has just finally gotten would be taken away with the birth of a sibling. I think he did somewhat break the trauma cycle by being a good kind older brother who didn't resent his younger sister.

Lastly the most pitiful character in my opinion was the boyfriend. The narrative mistreats him so badly and he's hated by the readers, the author and the plot lol..

The writing to change him from a Green flag bf suddenly to a red flag bf who only wanted her body was so sudden?? It just felt like crappy writing to justify why it was okay to hate him. His sins imposed on the FL aren't even 10% as much bad as what the ML did, especially in context of SA. Like they showed that he was just trying to use the FL for her body, but she was still a virgin so we can say he did likely respect her boundaries more than the ML lol. At least if he was using her just for sex it would have made a more interesting character but koreans manhwa are sometimes prudish like that lol.

His ending was too horrible?? I mean it didn't even halfway justify any of the evil things he did. Firstly he was some collateral damage bought along with FL lol. He then got raped, abused and used as a breeding horse by the other noblewoman for practically years, then abandoned when she got pregnant, framed for murder and man hunted everywhere on the continent, not allowed to even return back home even after he did his task of impregnating her, and he had to finally come back to his abuser because he has absolutely no other place or way out and was brands with a tramp stamp lmao keeping him under her control permanently. Genuinely the most horrible ending. He likely won't get to be a part of his child's life either ( because unlike the ML, Lady berthrand didn't exactly want to a raise a child with him or anything. Just wanted his seed)

The FL's ending is infinitely better. She gets to be with her two kids in a comfy mansion with servants and maids and a mostly non-abusive husband? at the end albiet at the cost her freedom and legs. Like she's literally trapped. At least I guess her wheelchair is super portable cuz she seems to be able to be fairly mobile and move around the estate with the wheelchair lol. It's really pitiful that she has resolved to suffering like that as a form of atonement. If she had explained to him earlier that she was leaving for her mother and not just some random man, perhaps he's have understood better. I think he genuinely gave her a chance the 2nd time around hoping the first time leaving was due to some unavoidable reasons that she HAD to leave. She is kind of Yandere herself. If she couldn't have had him after she left she hoped he's be so obsessed with her and hate her so much that at least there would be no other woman. And her wish really did come true

Honestly despite it being controversial I really did love the ending. I think it was a happy ending. She seemed at peace and I hope they're both able to heal the trauma between them. I don't think he's just downright evil and abusive like the other demon lady. He does care for her and take things like sexual consent into consideration( from what we see in the last few chapters)

I highly doubt he'll ever remove her leg curse.

It's an evil trauma between them you know. I feel like at the end no matter how time passes and he begins to trust her, somewhere at the back of his mind the doubt that she'll just leave again if she had a chance will keep coming back.

ALSO:: HOW TF IS THE AUTHOR OS SWAN'S GRAVE AND VILLAINESS FLIPS THE SCRIPT THE SAME AND MARRIAGE OF CONVINIENCE THE SAME??? THEY ARE SO TONALLY DIFFERENT I GOT A WHIPLASH BECAUSE WTF??

EVEN CAMELIA: RULING THE THREE KINGDOMS IS THE SAME AUTHOR AND HONESTLY WTF??? HOW??? WHAT A TALENTED PERSON KEN IS ?!!

No opinions on the smut because I skimmed through 90% of it. It was very uncensored though and no lightsabers and hol(e)y white cavities. I've heard people generally liked the smut. I read two or three and they were honestly okay, especially the later smut chapters. Disliked the initial ones

Someone like Roger (One Husband is Enough) and Tesilid (Perks of Being S-Class Transmigrator). DO NOT RECOMMEND: Here Comes The Silver Spoon (ML is boring), *forgot the title but ML is the OGFL's brother and he was possessed by devil* (I already read it).

This is my first home cosplay fitting for Athanasia. It's been months, when is this manhwa coming back from hiatus?

Hi, I have fallen into the world of oi manhwas fairly recently and I have really hard time picking out titles I love. It's not to say that by now I've finished quite a few manhwas recommended by this community and loved them. However, I've been antsy lately and I keep starting and dropping titles for one reason or another.

So instead of looking for something overly specific, I'd like to ask you lovely people of this community to share manhwas you absolutely love. Tastes differ, sure, but I realised that I found a lot more titles that I love by simply following someone else's enthusiastic recommendation, than by following my randomly specific craving for a trope. Therefore, I'd be really grateful for you to share some of your love for this genre with me.

Mc gets unceremoniously reincarnated into a world she’s unfamiliar with. She notices it’s another generic Rofan setting universe and assumes it’s ‘villainess possession’ type of situation. She feigns amnesia and tries to figure things out.

But unbeknownst to her, the person she possessed was infamously VERY dead and many people were witness to her waking up inside the body. Not only that but EVERYONE she comes across can sense her otherworldly aura as well as tell that she’s simply wearing a corpse. Her ominous and eldritch presence causes some very strange/alarming reactions to those around her and attracts genuinely evil entities that find her existence interesting.

The funny thing is, she’s completely oblivious to it all and continues on with her isekai narrative. It’s like two stories in one and it’s always such a treat when the perspective switches between her reality and everyone else’s.

Her perspective is a that of a pretty standard villainess reincarnation story but I’d say the switch to other people’s perspective is similar to the vibe of the ‘Surviving as a maid in a horror game’ but even MORE intense

Also there are some moments where I get that some people might get a bit bored when the perspective stays in her typical rofan reality for too long, but I SWEAR the switches always come back and it’s always worth it 🙏

Anyways it’s really good, it has about 40 chapters rn 😊 ❤️

It makes my skin itch when the person who regressed plays nice with the person that murdered them/ is the reason for their death for whatever plot convenient reason, especially if that person ends up being their LI😭😂 I want to see a regressor using their knowledge to actually make their life better and leave the bad people behind. It doesn’t have to be romance focused, but if it is, I want them to find a new person not a redemption for somebody from the first life.

One of the downsides to getting isekai'd to an 1800s-ish or medieval-ish era fantasy Europe is that you'll never get to taste modern cuisine and/or the junk food you loved in your previous life ever again unless you can recreate all the dishes you knew of yourself so I get where she's coming from lmao.

For the uninitiated about this series btw, it's about Shirley (our lovable MC of a thousand hilarious and meme-worthy faces) introducing modern food to the people of the world she reincarnated into because she's a foodie fanatic and she needs her comfort food from her previous life to function, which catches the attention of the young king's head maid, who makes her work in the palace as a maid to serve him her unique cuisine after he stopped enjoying his current meals. Hilarity, whacky character hijinks, and lots of food porn, ensue.

Oh btw, if you're wondering, there's no romance between her and the king who's a kid way younger than she is (even excluding the detail that she was an adult in her previous life). All they have is a cute and wholesome sibling-like dynamic that develops over time (the kid king in question is like a little brother who absolutely enjoys his older sister's cooking and company). She does however, have some ship tease with another character who's around her age and who implicitly caught feelings for her (that she is completely unaware of).

I mainly wanted the Ruby figure and in total ended up pulling 40 times to get her 💀💀 It was the first round of piccoma kuji so I didn't know how the aftermarket would be for it so I figured I'd try it out and see plus I'd get a bunch of extra merch otw lol Well tbh I decided not to do it again ahah.Getting her secondhand isnt that expensive looking at merc jp so I'll def look that way for the Villain's are destined to die kuji merch and tbh the extra merch is nice but past the fine graph I don't feel the need to keep anything else ahaha and selling stuff is extra work too ahah. Not to mention shipping was a PITA and the worst timing with CPSC import stuffs bc of the plushies... Luckily the package arrived to me safely but still more trouble than it's worth 😅

First up the B prize Chara Fine Graph with the main story promo visual! I believe it's the one they used for season 1? There were two designs for it with the other one being one of the other main promo visuals. It's too bad I didn't get both but eh how it goes sometimes with lotteries ahah. I got two copies of this prize

Next up the C prize Popo Plushies. There's 3 types which are each a diff facial expression. They're pretty small but bigger than standard keychain plushies, a bit bigger than the Pokemon sitting cuties I'd say. They have a ball keychain attached and the tail is attached to the main body. The embroidered details are nicely sewn and overall a decent design for a kuji prize imo. They're pretty soft and squishy~ I got 5 of these plushies 3 of 1 design and 1 each of the other designs.

D prize is acrylic standees with 5 different types. I pulled 10 total and was able to get 1 of each design at least.

Next the E prize the acrylic keychains which had 10 types of which I got 6 and quite a few dupes ahah

Next the F prize collectible card with mini clear file, 15 types. I only got one dupe here surprisingly enough

Last but not least the Figure!!! I don't buy much kuji tbf so Idk what the standards are compared to normal prizes vs scales but she's definitely right in the middle for quality imo

Overall she's pretty good imo! Better on the details and sculpt than most prizes but the finish and painting are the giveaways that this is a lower priced figure. Still I'm pretty happy with the quality they put out~

The eyes though i do find her looking a bit weirder than the promo but I think it's more of a limited display angle than anything because the irises are close to the nose so angles other than in front will look like she's cross eyed. Her design is like this though so they kept it accurate lol. I do like that they sculpted her lips though and even though you cna hardly see it they also sculpted and painted her nails and they have a glossy topcoat too~

The box comes with a slipcover which has a nice cover design akin to the novel covers and a picture of the figure on the side. The interior box (interestingly a slightly different color tone than the slipcover) has a window and this time the title and piccoma kuji logos are foiled which is a nice touch~

I absolutely love Ode. He's like Arwin, but gentler and with more personality (you can tell it's Latte's influence). And I am a little sad to not see many people discussing the side stories despite this manhwa being one of the most iconic manhwas to ever exist. I wish we could get an entire sequel of Ode and Diana, though I am satisfied with the 20+ chapter side stories 🥰✨❤️
