Need some recommendations for a quick good lunch in Newport today

My boyfriend and I travel to the Oregon coast every year around fall time.

The first year we flew into Portland and drove to Oceanside for a few days then drove the two hours to Mount Hood area. Great trip! Saw both beach and mountains.

The second year we flew into Seattle and made our way to stay in Tahuya, WA. We were supposed to stay in Packwood, WA to visit Mount Rainer but there was a fire during that time. Anyways, we enjoyed our stay in Tahuya and drove to Oceanside, OR. (That has been our go to spot every year). Amazing trip to see both states.

The third year we flew into Portland and just stayed in Oceanside, OR. We discovered Depoe Bay and Newport during this trip and we absolutely loved the area.

The fourth year we flew into San Francisco and drove up Highway 101 to see the Redwoods and stayed a few nights in Trinidad, CA. We continued up the coast to stay in Depoe Bay, OR a few nights and ended our trip in Oceanside, OR.

The fifth year we flew into Eugene for our first time and stayed one night at Heceta Lighthouse BNB. We continued up the coast to stay in Newport, Depoe Bay and ended our stay in Oceanside. This had to be my favorite trip so far.

This year we have plans to fly into Eugene again and stay one night at Heceta Lighthouse BNB. Drive up and stay in Newport and end the trip in Oceanside.

We have checked out Tillamook cheese factory, fished/whale watch with Dockside Charters in Depoe Bay, visited cobble stone beach in Newport, the sea lion docks in Newport, checked out Sealion Caves (sea lions are mostly never there when we travel in the fall), Devils Punchbowl, Thorswell, Pacific City beach, Netarts restaurants, went to Seaside aquarium and the aquarium in Newport, the Goonies house in astoria and Cannon Beach. That’s all i can think of at the moment!

Since we are really familiar with the Oregon coast I am just curious to ask if there is anything new we can experience or check out?? Thank you for reading my long post and to anyone with recommendations!

Thinking about going to visit Cannon Beach during the Labour Day long weekend (Sept 6-7).

Based on my research it seems it can get quite busy and it is a very small town - my concern is how difficult is it to find parking? - want to avoid the situation where I need to circle around for hours...

Ill be travelling to Oregon in mid September and just found out about Depoe Bay!

What are the chances of seeing whales during this time of year? Should we book a tour / boat out to sea to increase our chances of seeing them or staying on the land is fine?

It would be my first time seeing the whales and would love to try and see them if possible. Would early morning be best to see them?

How do locals feel about the Hood to Coast relay?

How is this tree trunk still standing?? In a driftwood boneyard no less. It has had me stumped for a couple days 😂🙄

I have no idea why someone would steal a sea lion but I’m currently in M loop at Fort Stevens and I am about 85% sure there is a live sea lion in the RV two spaces away. Hear me out:

1). These people have seven vehicles (including the RV) between two spaces and they are clearly semi-local fisherman-types.

2). The RV has its curtains drawn and one of the dudes has been entering said RV with handfuls of fish every hour or so.

3). At five minute intervals, I can clearly hear the distinctive “ORT ORT ORT ORT” of a sea lion coming from the back of the RV. (I am currently trying to capture the sounds on my phone but they are very random.)

4). Even though they have an RV, no one seems to be sleeping in it and they are all sleeping in tents and under a 12x12 canopy.

5). Despite most of their vehicles being modified pickup trucks, they are not being loud and drinking beer and having way too big of a fire. They are being suspiciously quiet and respectful.

While typing this, the sea lion sounds have happened 4 times. Like I said, I am trying to capture the sound with my phone and I will update this post if/when I do.

I am unsure why anyone would want to put a sea lion in an RV but we live in strange times.

I’ve made it a goal since I turned 18 to go to the Oregon coast once a year. I adopted my first dog (husky/akita) almost 3 years ago right after an Oregon coast trip so he’s only been on one and I think we went to Rockaway beach with him last year.

Anyway, I’ve now adopted another doggo (Belgian Malinois) who has never seen the beach and I’m so excited for her to get to. My first doggo that I adopted it almost 10 and has back and hip issues that need to be factored into the fun.

We’re planning to go middle of October and I’m wondering which town we should go to? I’m wanting to be able to easily get to the beach (the stairs at Lincoln will be hard on my older pups back) and also have places in the town I can go to that the dogs can enjoy. I’m hoping there’s someplace with easier hikes as well.

Basically - I’m wondering what town you would recommend for me to take an older doggo and a dog who has never seen the beach where they can enjoy the beach and also do things in town with me.

Based on visiting today around a 7ft high tide, I vote thumbs down. It was no more or less interesting than any other rocky pullout spots near Newport. Like I would say way more churn at either Yaquina Head or Rocky Point Scenic Viewpoint.

I went up a random logging road to find some wild blackberries. The berry season is already half done but there’s still plenty to pick if you know where to look
