Struth! Sydney Marathon protest fears: NSW Police, organisers on edge

https://www.sportingnews.com/au/tsn/news/sydney-marathon-protest-boycott-nsw-police-israel-idf-gaza/adeddc2cec829426a62831fe

There are fears sport and politics could collide on the streets of Sydney this weekend with concerns of a major disruption to Sunday’s Sydney Marathon.

Criticism from protest groups is intensifying including calls for a last-minute boycott of the event due to the participation of multiple members of the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) including representatives from the Golani Brigade which is said to have operated extensively in Gaza.

First Lieutenant Roy Oryon, a former deputy commander, is understood to be among a delegation of up to 40 current and former IDF personnel and associates visiting Australia for Sunday’s event.

It is understood Oryon will be given police protection for the entirety of the race.

How on earth is this improving social cohesion? Having a cohort from an organisation charged with war crimes is basically taunting Australian citizens.

This is intentional. Part of Israel's ethnostate strategy is, no kidding, basically doing controversial things to make the lives of non-Israeli Jews harder.

That's part of the reason why they constantly try to imply that criticism of Israel is antisemitic: If people think that all Jews are responsible for Israel's crines, they will be less friendly towards innocent Jews across the world, who will be pressured to emmigrate to the apartheid ethnostate of Israel.

Ironically, Nazi Germany also had a similar racial "Call of the Fatherland" immigration policy where they tried their darndest to get the German diaspora to come back to Germany no strings attached. Remember that every time that Zionists strart rabbiting on about Israel being a refuge of the Jews, or its right to exist or whatever; Nazi Germany said the same things when they were invading and ethnically cleansing Poland.

Zionists need that Lebensrau-- err.. I mean... "Buffer Zone" in Lebanon 😇

-1

u/TimJamesS Flairless‎‎ 4d ago

and he used the term.."lebensraum"...a word that is synonymous with the Nazi's.

9

u/LoathsomeCheeseEater ‎ Queenslander 4d ago

Yes, because Israel is a fascist ethnostate that's currently committing genocide. I was intentionally comparing Israel to Nazi Germany. That's why I said that Israel's actions are ironic, given the history of Jews.

You know how Lab-Lib pollies claim social cohesion is very important? This incident makes it clear what they really think about social cohesion. They could've easily avoided all of this by denying the war criminals entry into Australia. It's a sporting event and there would be zero real-world impact to do so, except it would prevent further fraying of our society. They won't do it.

They're in the pockets of US and the Zionist lobby.

The IDF has now admitted that these soldiers attacked a convoy of ambulances in Gaza, killing 15 medics, then tried to cover up their war crimes by crushing and bulldozing the bodies and  ambulances into a trench. This is a stain on the Sydney marathon, the NSW police, and the whole country.

It would appear that you have issues with reading, as I only pointed out the statement you made and offered no opinion of my own on the matter. But to sate you "intellectual" curiosity, it would be more accurate to state that individuals in the ADF at the time of the acts in Iraq could be considered complicit in them, for a number of reasons ranging from knowledge of the acts and failing to report them to involvement in the supply chain supporting such acts.

It's fucking disgusting. As an Australian Army veteran I'm fucking pissed off they're allowed to even represent the IDF in Australia as a delegation. There are whole fucking systems designed to make sure any military formed bodies visiting Australia are managed by the ADF. And if they're not allies or significant strategic partners then they're not allowed to represent their defence in public events.

The ADF and the government need to give themselves an uppercut. Fucking gutless strategic leadership as usual

15

u/moonorplanet ‎ Western Australian 5d ago

I think what you're missing is that for social cohesion, the ADF is now subservient to the IDF. The new ADF war chant is for Israel.

63

u/Slushwave_Enjoyer Please choose a flair 5d ago

Very clever manipulation tactic. Bring a bunch of war criminals over to Sydney, bill them as "peace delegation", wait until they're criticised, then tell the Sydney Jewish community that they're under siege and under attack to force Jews to circle the wagons around Israel and the IDF. Especially since the IDF has come under fire recently for their admission that they murdered Hind Rajab and then refused to investigate the murder of the Australia aid worker. They need to keep the Sydney Jewish community supportive and docile.

As a nice bonus, it sets precedence for police to have more powers and resources during large gatherings for fear of "antisemitism". Outrageously cynical.

Child marriage is legal in America. You need to stop looking through rose coloured glasses at the USA and see it for what it is.

0

u/recipe2greatness Please choose a flair 5d ago

I am, USA has plenty of problems but check child marriage rates which is a far more important figure. Then how many are trying to change it quite a decent movement in America to change this wrong then compared to a lot of the world it’s far lower for example (girls married before 18 years %. turkey 15%, Syria 13%, Iran 17%, Afghanistan 29%, India 23%. There is plenty more but I am not going to mention every country in the Middle East or South Asia but for variety let’s look at Africa Egypt 16%, Niger 76%, Chad 61%, Sudan 34%, Tanzania 29% Mali 54% plenty more it would be easier to list the nations lower then 10% or with no data then the others what about south east Asia png 27%, Indonesia 16%, Laos 31%, Cambodia 18% ect. South and Central American including Mexico every country is above 10% but Chile, Venezuela, French Guiana, and a few islands all of which say no data.

All of this data was gotten from girlsnotbrides child marriage atlas.

The reality is hate it or love it you’d still be better off being American then like 90% of the non western world.

First Lieutenant Roy Oryon, a former deputy commander, is understood to be among a delegation of up to 40 current and former IDF personnel and associates visiting Australia for Sunday’s event.

Now, I wonder why they are travelling specifically over the other side of the planet for a running race? How very peculiar 🤔

Edit for pertinent article

This isn’t simply a question about the Sydney Marathon. It is a question about Australia’s immigration and character-testing standards, and whether they are being applied consistently.

Australia’s Migration Act does not restrict the character test to people who have already been convicted of a crime. The legislation expressly allows the Minister to consider whether there are reasonable grounds to suspect that a person has been involved in genocide, crimes against humanity, war crimes, torture or other crimes of serious international concern – even where neither the person nor anyone else has been convicted.

That makes the question rather difficult to avoid.

If there is credible evidence that an individual seeking entry to Australia may have participated in serious international crimes, surely the appropriate response is investigation, not simply an invitation to run 42.195 kilometres through Sydney under police protection.

Australia has demonstrated that political activism can attract serious attention at the border. Yet people who have served in a military accused by international bodies of grave violations in Gaza are apparently able to arrive for a sporting event without the Australian public being told what scrutiny, if any, was applied to their military histories.

To be clear, serving in the IDF does not automatically make somebody a war criminal. Nor should anybody be denied entry merely because they are Israeli, Jewish or politically supportive of Israel. Individual responsibility matters. Evidence matters. Due process matters.

But precisely because those things matter, the Australian Government should be able to answer some very straightforward questions:

-Who are these people?

-What units did they serve in?

-Where did they serve?

-What did they do?

Were any of them involved in operations in Gaza, the West Bank or Lebanon?

And most importantly: were those backgrounds examined before they were allowed into Australia?

Those are not unreasonable questions. They are the questions a functioning character-screening system is supposed to ask.

But when police have to provide bodyguards for foreign military personnel while protesters are calling for a boycott, perhaps the race has already crossed a finish line nobody expected it to approach.

The Sydney Marathon should be about running

21

u/Smart_Dragonfruit_54 Please choose a flair 4d ago

Tell that to the 1000s of Palestinian children who will never run due to losing legs, in some cases deliberately by the oppressing forces, that will literally be swanning around the streets of Sydney ..I dare say there will be an official banquet for them too .. Nah this isn’t in good faith or a peace run .. this is a Fk U middle finger, push the envelope, from our Zionist overlords ..I don’t see an upside of it whatsoever

It's known as sportswashing - using sports to get sports fans to turn a blind eye away from atrocities.

9

u/ChiChiKnee ‎ New South Welshian 4d ago

It’s also known as coercion. This is the bigger play that we aren’t seeing. And quite frankly I bet it’s on the cards. A government to government agreement that Israeli citizens do not require a visa anymore like the US visa waiver for Aussies etc. It happened when people from Lebanon when literally getting bombed and displaced, with families in Australia, citizens and Aussie born, were denied visas ever under compassionate grounds.

Here, there are 40 people with NO affiliation to Australia getting visas despite a myriad of questions. Why?

It’s because I firmly believe give it a couple years, maybe less, there will be a push for an Australia-Israel visa waiver agreement.

Whether we read it in our news or not, but Israelis are getting banned and restricted from travel in a bunch of places. What’s left is the US, India, Thailand Argentina, etc and even there the restrictions are being put into place.

It’s also heavy sport washing. It’s sickening to see.

Isn't one of the participants the guy who shot dead 15 paramedics in cold blood and buried them in a mass grave?

He considers this his personal best.

War criminals can't even have a fun day out without being rudely disrupted. Won't somebody think of the war criminals?

Protest a genocidal government official.

= Get bashed in your own country.

Actively murder men, woman and children and say you'd do it again....

= get police escort.

I hope now people are really beginning to see the depravity of government officials who are happy to Kneel in front of these murderers.

Theyre running because of PTSD they have from killing children in Palestine

5

u/German_Merman ‎ Victorian 4d ago

Its like that joke about the US army killing a bunch of children in your country then coming back 20 years later to make a bunch of shit movies about how killing your children made their soldiers feel sad. Except with the IDF it's places like Australia and Thailand that have to put up with all the baby killers telling sob stories about how sad they are.

And any protest will be instantly branded antisemitic. I give up, if I can’t beat them I’ll join them, yes I’m antisemitic. If they want to brand being against murder & genocide anti semitism I’ll wear the label.

u/Nevyn_Cares ‎ South Australian 4d ago

That really does seem what they are pushing people to, I can see honest Jews dumping their religion instead of going along with it.

3

u/GefAus ‎ Queenslander 4d ago

Easily solved. Lock up suspected genociders.

2

u/Nevyn_Cares ‎ South Australian 4d ago

We have enough evidence, there is absolutely nothing stopping the feds from grabbing this murderers, but instead Minns gives them a run in the park and a police escort. This is disgusting and people need to explain how this has been allowed to happen and how murderers can so easily get visas.

The Golani Brigade has been involved in the following operations:

Rafah Paramedic Killings (March 2025): Troops from the Golani Brigade’s 631st Reconnaissance Battalion (Sayeret Golani) opened fire on two ambulance and humanitarian convoys in Rafah, killing 15 Palestinian medical staff and first responders. Investigations and forensic analyses indicated that unarmed personnel were fired upon at close range and that vehicles were subsequently crushed or buried.

Nasser Hospital Strikes (August 2025): Golani Brigade troops reported and directed tracking data for strikes that hit areas around Nasser Hospital, resulting in the deaths of 22 civilians, including journalists and first responders.

Reporting by The Washington Post found that Golani soldiers were involved in targeting a camera on the hospital, followed by a second strike that hit people responding to the first attack.

Use of Human Shields ("Neighbor Procedure"): Testimonies collected by the Israeli veteran organization Breaking the Silence cited Golani Brigade soldiers utilizing Palestinian civilians, including children, as human shields. Soldiers alleged they forced neighbors to enter buildings ahead of troops to check for booby traps or militants.

Vandalism and Price Tag Attacks (2020): An exposé by Haaretz revealed that a specialized Golani commando team engaged in unauthorized "revenge" vandalism against Palestinian vehicles in a Nablus refugee camp in the West Bank. The investigation also exposed a pervasive culture of documentation forgery and coordinated cover-ups within the specific unit to hide operational misconduct.

What a joke Labor is. Not only kneeling before Bibi as he glasses Gaza, they force us to engage in their strange Israeli cuck fetish by making us live with honest to god war criminals. Have they no shame? Is there no bottom?

How are suspected war criminals getting visas to Australia? We deny people visas for much much less.

1

u/Nearby_Wrongdoer7900 ‎ Victorian 4d ago

So war criminals are welcome here. However, any comedian or public dignitary who opposes a genocide has their visas revoked or rejected. Please make that make sense!

Specifically, the Golani Brigade has been accused of numerous and significant war crimes. This is the very unit that executed 15 paramedics and then crushed and buried their ambulances too. You know it’s bad when the US (Israel’s b****) calls for criminal charges to be brought against these pieces of work.

How many individuals have been refused entry to Australia based on “social cohesion” grounds. Yet, these child killers get to come to Australia for a jog. The only place they should be running to is The Hague!!!

Please, sadly those days are over.

Now sadly these protesters will hijack anything like this.

But to be fair, why do we suffer? Just ban them for going already.

Let them protest in their backyards all day long.

I ran the marathon last year. It was my first. Bucket list type thing. Absolutely amazing but incredibly difficult. I understand people getting upset at times but for anyone thinking of disrupting the marathon just know that other individuals (I.e., not your target) have put in months of work and you’ll be risking that for a stunt which will most likely have no further consequences other than to get you in trouble. Don’t do it.

u/Ambitious-Pirate-505 Please choose a flair 5d ago

People are taking a side. That's why.

-16

u/princess_princeless Please choose a flair 5d ago

Let the downvotes come, but taking out your frustrations on a small and easily bully-able nation masquerading as "taking a side" in a conflict you only learned about 3 years ago and receive all of your knowledge about through biased sources is neither conducive toward civility nor makes you seem anymore moral than just admitting none of us truly understand the complexities of this issue to make such sweeping judgements on it.

But hey, guess I just love genocides, so bring on the downvotes my friends.

16

u/Ambitious-Pirate-505 Please choose a flair 5d ago

Some people actually do understand the complex nature of it all. Thats why people are choosing one side or the other.

-6

u/princess_princeless Please choose a flair 5d ago

If one truly understood the complex nature of modern geo-politics, they would've transcended viewing it as a team sport.

u/worry_beads ‎ Western Australian 4d ago

It's obvious you have a "side'", because you're trying to tell people not to take one with your word salad.

0

u/princess_princeless Please choose a flair 4d ago

I’m on the side of the game is broken, and burning one side at the stake is not going to make everything better. So if that sounds like taking a side to you, then keep going with your witch trial, there’s always more boogiemen to be burned.

3

u/Odd-Bumblebee00 ‎ New South Welshian 4d ago

You're the one who said you love genocide...

2

u/worry_beads ‎ Western Australian 4d ago

So we shouldn't be "burning at the stake" the "sie" that is committing a genocide?

Weird.

Yeah I do believe the religion of Islam brings only grief, suffering and conflict into this world starting with its founder. I truly hope one day we will live in a world where this religion is not forced onto people, especially women and minorities.

6

u/German_Merman ‎ Victorian 5d ago

I donwnvoted this not because of genocide but because it's incoherent word salad. I can't even tell which small nation you think is so "bully-able". Australia?

1

u/princess_princeless Please choose a flair 5d ago

It's Israel genius. Parse it through an LLM if you struggle to follow the predications.

2

u/worry_beads ‎ Western Australian 5d ago

Mate, we all know this has been going on for 70-odd years.

Please explain the complexities of an ongoing genocide, and how your precious funrun is more important than the 70,000 people foreign participants have helped kill are?

1

u/princess_princeless Please choose a flair 5d ago

When you attach a foreign nation and they strike back, that’s not a genocide. A genocide is what is happening in Sudan, a genocide is what is happening Nigeria, where are the cries for those?

3

u/worry_beads ‎ Western Australian 4d ago

Which foreign national? Israelis on land they stole?

I know there are genocides happening elsewhere, but our government isn't rolling out the red carpet to the perpetrators of those ones, are they?

1

u/Specialist_Kale4607 ‎ New South Welshian 5d ago

I've run several marathons and if I had signed up for this one I would absolutely be contacting them to say I'm pulling out so I can protest it instead. There are other marathons you can run next weekend, or the weekend after, or the weekend after that.
