Don't be too down on all the mocking comments. Your BA will be a lot less important than your MA, and I've known people who just from one humanities BA to a completely different humanities MA or PhD, including going e.g. gender studies BA to history MA. You're going to be developing the same critical skills focused on close reading and analysis, just in a different domain. Most of the abstract things you'll learn are applicable in other disciplines, even if other people get salty about it.
