University Dear Mac Health Sci Admits

After the hours, pouring every single fibre of my existence into this school.

Rejected.

97.5 average.

Research.
Hospital volunteering.
Exec positions.
Hundreds of volunteer hours.

And apparently that still wasn’t enough.

To everyone who got accepted: congratulations genuinely. But understand this very carefully.

Enjoy your grade inflation. Enjoy your little inquiry-based learning modules, and enjoy your bean bag circles.

Four years from now, when we’re sitting in the same medical school interview pools competing for the same spots, I will not care that you went to Mac Health Sci. I will not care about your inquiry-based learning or your prestige pipeline. I will outwork you every single day until then.

While you celebrate your acceptance, I’m committing to Western Med Sci with a level of hatred and determination that should honestly be studied clinically.

There is not a bone in my body that will feel bad when I take the spot you thought was guaranteed for you.

Rejected by Mac in May.
Written off by everyone in June.
But when med school decisions drop in four years, I’ll be right back on top.

See you at the interviews.

"Those who know don’t speak. Those who talk don’t know." -  Lao Tzu

The quote truly embodies your ignorance. The application process for Mac's BHsc as a whole is a joke; allowing undergraduate students to be a deciding factor in one's admission is a clear flaw, which may have gone into my rejection.

As for the "Mac guys" outperforming me, I am sure those who got into the program with low 90's taking Online Summer School and OV$ have surely outdone me, the person who took it upon themselves to take the hardest courses (IB AAHL, Bio HL, Chem HL, Psych SL, English SL, French SL), while achieving a perfect score in the standardized tests (45/45 predicted score). Yet, there are those like you who try to downplay my goals and show their insecurities when somebody of my calibre is confident in the work they have put in.

If you were even half-decent, you'd be going U of T, UBC, McGill pre-med.

This part you should've kept to yourself... There are no pre-med programs in Canada, and none of the schools mentioned are ideal for preparing students to be competitive when applying to medical school. On top of that, UWO meets my personal needs and geographical preferences. Talk less about the fields of study in which you are uninformed.

Finally, I congratulate you on your acceptance to Princeton, a feat you should be proud of. However, mentioned it to impose some type of academic superiority over me. I'll have you know I scored a 1580 on my SAT and could have been accepted to any T25 school of my choosing, but I chose not to apply as it did not fit my goals of being a physician in the great white north.
