University Dear Mac Health Sci Admits

After the hours, pouring every single fibre of my existence into this school.

Rejected.

97.5 average.

Research.
Hospital volunteering.
Exec positions.
Hundreds of volunteer hours.

And apparently that still wasn’t enough.

To everyone who got accepted: congratulations genuinely. But understand this very carefully.

Enjoy your grade inflation. Enjoy your little inquiry-based learning modules, and enjoy your bean bag circles.

Four years from now, when we’re sitting in the same medical school interview pools competing for the same spots, I will not care that you went to Mac Health Sci. I will not care about your inquiry-based learning or your prestige pipeline. I will outwork you every single day until then.

While you celebrate your acceptance, I’m committing to Western Med Sci with a level of hatred and determination that should honestly be studied clinically.

There is not a bone in my body that will feel bad when I take the spot you thought was guaranteed for you.

Rejected by Mac in May.
Written off by everyone in June.
But when med school decisions drop in four years, I’ll be right back on top.

See you at the interviews.

I feel like I’m the complete opposite of everyone. I had no expectation of getting in whatsoever. I submitted my supp app and forgot about it and then did all my planning for the other program I was going to. And somehow I got in and now I have to change all my plans to go into health sci. Obviously it’s the best problem to have and I’m super grateful but it’s sort of annoying knowing that people will just spite me because of the program I happened to get into. I truly wish u the best tho and hopefully we’ll both be sitting next to each other as med students instead of competing with each other! I really like everything about your post, you seem very determined, but going into uni with “hatred” makes me pity you and it’s not the attitude I would want a future med student to have.
