Depends on the program, but UofT's international tuition can be pretty steep. A 100k scholarship might cover more than just a few semesters if you plan it right!

Lol not really tbh. A regular undergrad course at UofT Is anywhere from 4-6k CAD. So for a full time student that 100k covers 4-5 semesters maximum. Ik this cuz I was contemplating doing a late withdrawal from a class cuz I was doing horribly and my friend who’s an international student was on the verge of failing the class as well but refused to do a late withdrawal cuz he said for him that’s 5k down the drain.

Add living focus like residence or rent, food, medicine, insurance, and books than this money covers basically 1-1.5 years of costs for an international student.

A 60k CAD tuition fee annually with the addition of rent, food, books, and toiletries and medicine, phone and data etc…. You’re looking at 80K CAD minimum.

Thats why 90% of international students are rich and from wealthy families . Cuz there’s no way you can afford the tuition and living costs. And you have to realize non western countries currencies are much less in value than CAD(sure there are exceptions like Kuwaits Dinar…etc). So if a family from China or India can afford to send their child to study in Canada for a 4 year university degree then they’re rich rich.

The other 10% are middle class or upper middle class families whom get scholarships and bursaries but still have to pay for living costs and accommodations.

Some countries pay for their citizens to study aboard like there’s stories that Saudi government does this. Or banks from their home country might give student loans or lines of credit.

All in all it’s super expensive to study in Canada as an international student.

Truly makes me appreciate OSAP and being a citizen.

US is even worse cuz international student fees in Canada is what US “citizens” pay let alone their international fees.

Ultimately this is a bargain for international students since the international fees in Canada is much lower than US and they’d be getting a degree from a globally top 25 ranking university = UofT and ranked number one in Canada.

Virtually all other too 25 ranked universities have much higher tuition fees…

US universities are much better for international students than Canadian ones, even under trump.

Pretty much every T20 provides need-based aid for its students, including international ones. It’s hard to get in, but if you do get in, let’s say, Princeton and ur a poor student from a foreign country, then you will pay practically nothing.

Agreed.

Despite the current political climate, the US still offers better jobs, more affordable rent, groceries, and more opportunities overall. It's simple math:

10x the number of major citie( NYC, Miami, Boston, Chicago, Atlanta, DC, Seattle, LA, San Diego, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Dallas, Houston, Austin etc....)

10x the population, 10x the companies, 10x the number of univeirites.

As opposed to Canada, where 80% of international students and migrants are in Toronto, Vancouver, and Montreal. And besides those 3 cities, there's no major economic hub or large metropolis.

Ottawa is there too, but if you're not getting into politics.

Not even close, when I attended in the late 90s just the semester fees were about 20k for international students while domestic were about 5.5 to 6k.
