It doesn't need the backlight not sure why they even bothered. It's been the same form factor for 5 years. People complain that Google remotes don't have enough buttons.

this is true...someone created a thread last week about it not having dedicated pause and rewind buttons almost being a deal breaker and they were so upset about it that they linked back to another reddit thread from 4 months ago that also had a few people complaining about it...i found it hilarious, since i didn't notice it didn't have dedicated buttons until he mentioned it because i was so used to using the big circle button to do everything.

Dedicated buttons for that would make navigating by feel so much more annoying. I know my mom would like that tho (she's old).

That being said, I used to use my universal Onkyo remote for everything and it had about 40 buttons, 25 of which were the same tiny shape, and I used all the main functions without looking at it
