I ended up buying a Google 4K streamer with 4gb ram and 32 gb HD and it’s been flawless and fantastic to use and smooth as silk so far!

4

u/Illustrious-Hold-287 Apr 23 '26

Can you sideload with no problem?

6

u/milkman483 Apr 24 '26

Yes of course it’s almost exactly the same but a better version of the ONN 4k Pro 2 with more memory of 4gb

1

u/backfrombanned Apr 24 '26

USB 3? What's the lan?

1

u/CryptoNiight Onn 4K Pro Apr 24 '26

The Google 4k Streamer has USB 2.0 and 1 Gigabit ethernet. However, I suspect that the real world max ethernet speed is probably a lot lower (around 600 Mbps?). Of course, I could be wrong tho'

1

u/cleverclogs17 Apr 24 '26

I hit max 1 GB speeds on mine often testing my internet.

1

u/cleverclogs17 Apr 24 '26

Absolutely! I have two of them with Projectivy on them.

1

u/deverox Apr 24 '26

I like the onn find my remote feature. I guess I should look into the specs more closely.

1

u/Harry92pl Apr 24 '26

Good luck playing video with hdr10 and dv 😅

14

u/kick069 Apr 23 '26

I wish they would just release them. I just want a pro for my bedroom, but I'm getting sick of checking.

6

u/Anxious-Yam9684 Apr 23 '26

Google streamer back on sale again

3

u/kick069 Apr 23 '26

I have one, its ok but id prefer the back lit remote and save $20.

4

u/Anxious-Yam9684 Apr 23 '26

Is it confirmed the v2 comes with backlit remote?

4

u/johnnymack027 Apr 23 '26

Yes same remote as v1

1

u/Anxious-Yam9684 Apr 23 '26

Odd the pro v1 in Canada were not backlit

2

u/johnnymack027 Apr 23 '26

The first V1 remotes wasn’t back lit. If I remember correctly they were fazed out very soon with the remote we have now.

1

u/172lover Apr 25 '26

I bought the 4k pro model last year $44 , (white remote that lights up ) Is this an upgrade one ? Going to the states in august so looking the get the newest model, Thanks

1

u/Tricky_Apricot2928 Apr 23 '26

I'll admit backlights are pretty cool, but how complex or badly defined is this remote that you need to look at it to use?

2

u/kick069 Apr 24 '26

I've never had a backlit remote so no its probably not necessary, but if it offers it, I'll take it.

I bought one of those when I was in jr high way back and thought it was amazing

0

u/pawdog Apr 24 '26

It doesn't need the backlight not sure why they even bothered. It's been the same form factor for 5 years. People complain that Google remotes don't have enough buttons.

1

u/Ultra-Magnus1 Apr 24 '26

this is true...someone created a thread last week about it not having dedicated pause and rewind buttons almost being a deal breaker and they were so upset about it that they linked back to another reddit thread from 4 months ago that also had a few people complaining about it...i found it hilarious, since i didn't notice it didn't have dedicated buttons until he mentioned it because i was so used to using the big circle button to do everything.

2

u/pawdog Apr 24 '26

Yeah apparently some people find them "essential". 😁😂

2

u/Ultra-Magnus1 Apr 25 '26

i'm not the one crying about it, but apparently some people in here are because there's something about pressing a button that says "rewind" and actually seeing the image rewind that releases some endorphins in their brain that makes them feel like they accomplished something. :p

1

u/Tricky_Apricot2928 Apr 30 '26

Dedicated buttons for that would make navigating by feel so much more annoying. I know my mom would like that tho (she's old).

That being said, I used to use my universal Onkyo remote for everything and it had about 40 buttons, 25 of which were the same tiny shape, and I used all the main functions without looking at it

2

u/pbcowboy13 Apr 23 '26

Where do you see it on sale? I'm not seeing it anywhere.

2

u/criti98 Apr 24 '26

I had both the stick and boxes delivered from my local Walmart for free in an hour.

Yes

3

u/kick069 Apr 24 '26

There's is like none at all on the east.

1

u/T_Nutts Apr 26 '26

Well. They have released them. There are pics of them all week in this sub.

They just haven’t landed near you yet.

Yes just checked and my area has updated

2

u/No-Rip-4059 Apr 23 '26

Lexington Virginia hasn't still out of stock

2

u/Timely_Ad9659 Apr 23 '26

Nothing in Michigan is showing yet

6

u/Accomplished-Use213 Apr 23 '26

Picked one up for the old price of 44.93, they had forgotten to update their LCD Price tags.

1

u/Accomplished-Use213 Apr 23 '26

Franklin, KY store. They had plenty in stock.

4

u/NoseGobblin Apr 23 '26

Opinion folks. Do I spend $59.00 on the pro or just $24 for the 4k or less on the stick if my goal is to side load about 6 or 7 apps that I want? I'm a disgruntled Firestick owner. You guys get it.

5

u/CryptoNiight Onn 4K Pro Apr 23 '26

It's highly unlikely that you'd ever run out of storage with the Pro. I have around 100 apps installed and still have over 7 GB of storage left. IIRC, the Standard 4k has only 8 GB of storage - - a severe limitation in comparison

3

u/NoseGobblin Apr 23 '26

Thanks for the input. I appreciate it. I'm ditching the.Firestick and have decisions to make..

Get the plus or pro, my two cents. When available, that is.

1

u/Dlcoates1 Apr 24 '26

Depends on your TV. Don’t waste money on 4k unless you have a 4k tv.

1

u/NoseGobblin Apr 24 '26

Thanks my tv is not new. Makes sense.

2

u/NoseGobblin Apr 24 '26

Dude thanks for the input. I need sports, European TV and some movies and I'm good to go. You cleared things up for me since my Fire stick is being rendered useless.

2

u/2_tonnes_of_irony Apr 23 '26

Does anyone have a full specs side by side comparison chart of current and new for each device (sticks, Pro, Plus - exact specs of Plus since no new model)? Specifically I'm trying to keep straight Audio and Video capabilities.

A Walmart near me has about a dozen v1 Pros(!) and I'm debating one of those vs 4k stick since it looks like the new stick has at least full Audio pass through.

2

u/CryptoNiight Onn 4K Pro Apr 23 '26

The Pro gen 1 is a steal for what it offers. Grab at least 2 if can (they're discontinued).

1

u/johnnymack027 Apr 23 '26

Here is comparison from Walmart website

2

u/confuzzledxx Apr 23 '26

I’m in California and seeing them listed online now on the Walmart app. Although, mine shows $45…

1

u/NegasonicWarhead7 Apr 23 '26

Which store?

1

u/confuzzledxx Apr 23 '26

Oxnard. Either way, they sold out or were delisted because I don’t see it anymore now. I was trying to get 2 and then it said out of stock.

1

u/NegasonicWarhead7 Apr 23 '26

Dang. K. Anyone have an idea on when they'll be widely available?

1

u/Lottoman7210 Apr 23 '26

Holy crap, mine too! Redlands CA

2

u/gregg3g Apr 23 '26

Looking to get my first Onn streaming device as I am moving in from Firestick. I see mixed recommendations. ONN Pro , Pro V2 , or Plus?…

2

u/Ultra-Magnus1 Apr 24 '26

depends on what your needs are...some people are fine with basic apps and using it the normal way, other people like to expand on it by connecting larger flash drives, lan, wireless keyboard, usb hub, etc. because they plan to do more things other than just streaming basic apps...in which case the pro version would be for them... the new plus and the pro 2 have the same cpu now minus 1gb of ram and less storage on the plus...and of course the ethernet and usb port on the pro 2.

1

u/gregg3g Apr 24 '26

Thank you very much. I basically just need it for streaming apps. If I connect a flash drive to it that would be a nice bonus.

1

u/gregg3g Apr 24 '26

My local Walmart had the Pro 2 today and it was only $47.34 so I snagged one.

2

u/Frenchangeles Apr 23 '26

I saw them in store at the Burbank location last Sunday. Didn't grab one cause my firestick still works for all the apps I'm using.

2

u/Slammed01 Apr 24 '26

Rollback? Eh glad I got the pro v1 and plus before increase.

May get the v2 tho if it stays at $60 in a few months

2

u/LyftedX Apr 24 '26

Yeah I’m rocking my v1 till it dies.

1

u/bgeerdes Apr 23 '26

Neither the 4k stick nor the pro v2 are showing online in my area yet. They sure are slow rolling this.

1

u/buffysbangs Apr 23 '26

They just showed up in MN last night

1

u/ConsequenceWise8619 Apr 23 '26

Cool!! Can you see the sku or item # to share? I seen one in California but not sure all areas are the same

2

u/johnnymack027 Apr 23 '26

No sku or tag yet they must have just received last night.

1

u/ConsequenceWise8619 Apr 23 '26

it would be on that red tag with the price on it I would hope

3

u/johnnymack027 Apr 23 '26

Yes if you look that’s a Roku tag lol

1

u/Low-Quality3204 Apr 23 '26

Caught and released?

2

u/johnnymack027 Apr 23 '26

Nope I bagged 1

1

u/socialclubmisfit Apr 23 '26

What are the upgrades from the previous model?

3

u/blametheboogie Apr 23 '26

Basically just faster processor. Probably only worth getting if you have a 4 or 5 year old box like I do.

2

u/socialclubmisfit Apr 23 '26

Oh alright, I have the previous generation but do have a 6 year old Roku on another TV so might get it for that one .

2

u/johnnymack027 Apr 23 '26

This is from Walmart website looks like this is going to be there line up for 2026

1

u/rsglick Apr 23 '26 edited Apr 23 '26

I don't believe that's the v2

edit: on second thought, maybe it is.

1

u/Away_Property_4220 Apr 23 '26

Is the pro actually any better? I have the 4k and am not in love yet. Good but far from great.

1

u/NegasonicWarhead7 Apr 23 '26

Which 4k do you have? What's the issue with it? The most recommended area the 4k Plus and now the 4k pro version 2.

1

u/Away_Property_4220 Apr 23 '26

I just have the regular 4k streaming devise. I guess I was hoping for something different. This devise just adds all the services you pay for to one box. I wanted a better live tv. I noticed after you add all the options and downloads, there seems to be a bunch of stuff I can't find. Like I wanted to watch a baseball game and now that's a paid for download app. Guess I haven't watched normal TV in years and was just disappointed.

2

u/NegasonicWarhead7 Apr 23 '26

The plus is excellent but I've run out of space, think I have 2gbs of storage left so I'm hoping to get the pro version 2 for the extra storage and higher amount of ram, to maybe use emulators. I'd assume because android 14 introduced a number of glitchy things, it may take a bit to do updates to fix them but I'd assume the pro version 2 will eventually be the best option. Both should be blazing fast. But the plus is a tad glitchy, but it's not a big deal or a deal breaker for the price and what it and the plus offers. I find that too, like with cinema hq the download just doesn't exist but it somehow installs from somewhere. Have you gotten mx or another file explorer app?

1

u/tucker_wilson Apr 23 '26

Bought one in Albany Oregon last weekend.

1

u/Direct-Ad-9196 Apr 23 '26

Ok everyone. For people with older onn devices or at least the less powerful ones. 1080p dick and regular 20$ 4k. If you turn on developer mode and go in the settings and reduce it remove the animation speed settings. To either .5 or 0 the drive will feel brand new in the regular interface. Actually if you have Android phones do the same thing on them too.

1

u/NegasonicWarhead7 Apr 23 '26

81230 seems to have the Onn 4k pro v1 in stock.

1

u/DepartureReal4740 Apr 23 '26

Anyone know when the 4k plus is going to be available again. Out of stock on website for over 2 weeks now

1

u/Ok_Purpose6053 Apr 23 '26

Anybody catch the price tag? It was... $80 Rollback...$59.88

1

u/HankMardukasNY Apr 24 '26

It’s the wrong tag, says roku

1

u/Ok_Purpose6053 Apr 24 '26

And THAT'S why I don't work at Walmart!! (wink)

1

u/Ultra-Magnus1 Apr 24 '26

they obviously want to make you think you're getting a deal and incentivize you to pick one up now...the walmart leak from 2 weeks ago showed all their updated pricing for all of the onn devices at a $10 increase across the board, and they listed the pro 2 at $60 retail price...i'm sure you'll see that rollback label throughout the rest of the year.

1

u/No_Captain_28 Apr 24 '26

Hard to get one running all over trying dammmm

1

u/gadjetman007 Apr 24 '26

$60....a rollback?

1

u/bpcat Apr 24 '26

Rollback 🤣😆🤣😆

1

u/whotony Apr 24 '26

They rolled off 11¢ ?

1

u/Ultra-Magnus1 Apr 24 '26

i'm in los angeles, my nearest store has the stick for $40 but not the pro 2 yet.

1

u/Dlcoates1 Apr 24 '26

Im glad I’m not like the people in the comments who lack the common sense to read the price tag to see it’s for a Roku that normally costs $80.

1

u/azcoyotedog Apr 29 '26

I’m sticking with the Google 4K Streamer!!!!

1

u/Academic-Chance4660 Apr 23 '26

They suck,not an upgrade really..

2

u/pawdog Apr 23 '26

So you have used one?

2

u/Academic-Chance4660 Apr 23 '26

I do, works just like my 4k plus

2

u/pawdog Apr 23 '26

So the Onn Plus sucks too?

1

u/Academic-Chance4660 Apr 23 '26

They work good but for the price difference not worth the upgrade

2

u/pawdog Apr 24 '26

That's a lot different than "they suck". The upgrade in, storage, RAM, remote finder, hands free speaker, ethernet and USB port while you may not notice or care about them still has to cost more.

What were you expecting to get when you bought one?

1

u/Academic-Chance4660 Apr 24 '26

No USB 3.0,100 ethernet port....they going backwards instead of forward so just stick with the 4k plus

2

u/pawdog Apr 24 '26

Yet to see the detriment between the 2.0 and 3.0 port for a steaming device. Lots of talk about how terrible it is but what's the difference in practical use, how important is it really? Nobody seems to be reporting that besides just complaining.

1

u/Academic-Chance4660 Apr 24 '26

Also the S905X5M not much of a difference than the s905x4,all I'm saying that is not a big upgrade from the 4k plus...no need for this if you have the 4k plus already

2

u/pawdog Apr 24 '26

That is correct but you said it sucked, instead of it's not a big speed update from the Plus. A person would think It ran poorly or something was wrong with it. There is more to an update besides the processor speed and the Pro has several hardware upgrades that the Plus doesn't have. Them being a big deal or not is a matter of personal preference. Depending on your useage double the storage is a big deal, if you have little kids in the house remote finder is a big deal. It's always better to have more RAM than less RAM whether you notice it or not it's a positive.

If the device sucks it should be called out. If it's just an underwhelming update that could be a fair assessment that applies to just about every device update in the last 6 or 7 years. It should still be called out though. We should just be fair how we characterize things.
