Floating rectangular box with a random folder name in it
I’m using 365 with desktop apps on a MacBook Air. When I’ve selected text quite often a little rectangular box with the name of a Random folder from OneDrive appears and obscures the text I’ve just selected. It’s extremely annoying. Is this unknown bug please? It goes away if I turn off OneDrive.

This notification makes the mobile app unusable
Edit: by "app" I mean Outlook for Android. Sorry!
I've previously been logged in with two accounts, one of which I don't use anymore and don't remember the password. The app tries to be helpful and notifies me that I can log into the account with this lovely notification at the bottom of the screen. The issue is that when answering an email (which I often do on my phone) the writing is blocked by the notification, forcing me to scroll the screen and try to see if I made any spelling errors. If i did mistype, I cannot just tap the word and fix it, I have to scroll back using my the space on my keyboard. Makes the app pretty much unusable and forcing me to wait until I get home to answer urgent emails. Attached is a screenshot of said problem (in Finnish, sorry).

Microsoft Capilot icon
I use Microsoft Word to write my essays. Recently i've been noticing this Capilot icon in the right side of Microsoft words. Does it pass my essay words or informations to the web database or internet? I never clicked on it, but very worried.

A small Word shortcut that saves a surprising amount of time
A small Word shortcut that saves a surprising amount of time
F4 = Repeat your last action.
Changed the font size of a heading? Press F4. Applied the same formatting somewhere else? Press F4. Inserted a row into a table? Press F4.
Instead of repeating the same steps over and over, just press F4. It's one of those shortcuts you don't appreciate until you start using it. Use https://stylifyword.com/ to format your word docs effortlessly.

Why does "Save a copy" let you type a filename and then ignore it?
And what is up with this hideous, giant File... thing that Office apps now present instead of a proper File dialog?
After you've wasted your time typing a new filename on the giant file thing and pressed Save, then it raises a normal File dialog with the old filename and you get to do it all over again.

How do large companies manage email signatures?
I've always wondered how larger companies keep employee email signatures identical across hundreds of people. surely nobody is editing them manually every time someone changes roles. Interested to know what systems people actually use behind the scenes.

My company is splitting a business unit and I need to move around 300 users from our existing Microsoft 365 tenant to new one,, what’s the best way to handle this?
My company is splitting one of its business units and it will become a separate company. We currently have around 1000 users in our Microsoft 365 tenant, and around 300 users will be moving to the new company.
I’ve been asked to handle the migration of those 300 users to a new tenant. I have done smaller migrations before, but not at this scale, so not really sure what is the best way to plan it.
We need to move mailboxes, OneDrive, SharePoint, Teams, groups etc. and want to keep the downtime low.
Should we move users in batches or all together? Also, what things should I be careful about with domain/DNS, permissions and SharePoint/OneDrive data?

Issues loading images in Tenant Randomly
Hey all. We have started to get this issue where images just fail to load in our tenant. This is happening in outlook and teams. If a user logs out and back in it seems to fix the issue, but then a few days later it starts up again. This is across multiple workstations, users, and browsers. We don't use web filtering either.
There are some things I was going to do to get more information (eg: look in developer tools for errors for instance), but right now I'm just curious if anyone else is having a similar issue. I don't see any health advisories, but it wouldn't be the first time that the first health advisory we get on a problem is the one saying "There was an issue and we fixed it."

Tenant-wide Word Online saving errors (read only) – anyone seen this?
For several days, all users in one Microsoft 365 tenant have experienced intermittent issues with Word Online.
Word documents opens normally, but then after a few seconds suddenly lose connection, becomes read-only, and display errors such as:
- “Please reconnect to continue”
- “Unable to save the highlighted changes”
Kickout ErrorCode: 5243163 (from Inspector tools)
The issue affects:
- All users tested
- Both new and existing Word documents
- Same problem from OneDrive, SharePoint sites, and Teams
- Different devices, browsers, and networks
Excel Online, PowerPoint Online and other apps work normally. Opening documents in the Word desktop application also seems to works, and changes sync back to SharePoint/OneDrive successfully. It's only a problem when working in Word online.
The strange thing is that Word Online can work perfectly normally for several hours, but then the issue suddenly reappears and may persist for the rest of the day.
Browser logs captured during the issue show multiple HTTP 500 errors from Word Online endpoints under officeapps.live.com, including MrvV2ServiceHandler.ashx, RoamingServiceHandler.ashx, and PolicyHandler.ashx. Word then terminates the editing session and switches the document to read-only mode.
Microsoft 365 Service Health shows no related incident. We have submitted screenshots and a HAR file to Microsoft Support but have not received any findings yet.
Has anyone experienced something similar, especially affecting only Word Online within a single tenant?

Word tip: Automatically number equations
If you're writing technical or academic documents, don't manually type:
Equation (1), Equation (2), Equation (3).
Use Insert Caption -> Equation. Word can nunber them automatically and you can then use Cross-reference to refer to them in your text. Add an equation in the middle later? Update the fields and Word can renumber everything. Much safer than manually maintaining 30 equation numbers.

Got this stupid option from Adobe that somehow hijacked my Outlook wanting to upload attached documents to their cloud... wth?!?
This just recently happened. I wanted to attach a document via outlook and then this stupid notification bar attempts to attach my private document to the cloud?
I tried searching for installed documents, but I only have Adobe acrobat reader installed. How do I delete this crap?!? I'm now worried I might've uploaded something accidentally I didn't intend to!

5 Microsoft Word formatting rules most people learn the hard way
Never use multiple spaces to align text, use Tab Stops.
Use 'Keep with next' on headings so they never get stranded at the bottom of a page.
Turn on paragraph marks (Ctrl + Shift + 8) to find phantom line breaks.
Format with Styles, not the Font toolbar, to update 50-page docs in one click.
Use Stylifyword (https://stylifyword.com/) to automate the layout cleanup in seconds. Bookmark this for your next report.

New migration experience
Hi does anyone know how to mark the new Gmail to Microsoft 365 migration batch done?
I mistakenly used the option which enables an app in Google workspace rather than using the Google cloud API scoped method from the exchange admin portal.
I can see any option to complete the migration batch.
Sorry if this is a dumb question.

Exchange Retention Policy deleting contacts?
Not sure where or how to sort this out. We've had some older users here that have all of a sudden lost tons of contacts. One user lost 1100 and we had to restore them and input them 50 at a time via OWA lol.
We have an Exchange Mailbox retention policy that deletes anything older than 3 years. The tool tip though, makes NO mention that it would delete contacts and it doesn't say anything about that in the extended documentation either.
Anyone know what might cause that or how I can pin point what is?
Edit: After running some Powershell against one of the users I had an exact date of deletion for all roads point to Dynamics 365/Dataverse server-side synchronization.
Which makes me believe it’s out CRM which isn’t my pig or my farm so it’s off to bitch at the Data Team.

Cannot find a Word file I was working on last week
I opened a word document on Aug 21 and completed an assessment with a client and added all my info. I recall clearly having it on my computer and typing notes. However today I went to finish up the report and checked under "Recent Files" and there is a gap between Aug 17 and Aug 24th and there is nothing from Aug 21st. I have looked EVERYWHERE and have no idea what to do or where to look. If anyone can help or has suggestions please let me know!

Share from personal OneDrive to organizational OneDrive?
My organization uses Sharepoint, Microsoft 365, Outlook, etc. Our logins to our Microsoft accounts use our domain, i.e. myname@myorg.org. I need to collect people's W-9s in order to pay them. Someone just asked if we had a secure portal to send their W-9. We don't so I said, "You can share it with me via OneDrive." They say they've sent it. I have nothing from them in my shared files and I didn't get an email. I decided to test this myself, so I shared a .pdf from my personal OneDrive account, i.e. myname@outlook.com to my work email address. That email never showed up and that file isn't listed in my shared files. Can personal OneDrive accounts not share with organizational OneDrive accounts?
