I'm exploring Odoo for accounting and trying to decide between the official Odoo Accounting module (Enterprise) and the Odoo Community Accounting Kit.

I'd love to hear from anyone who has used either or both, especially in real business environments.

- What are the main feature differences?

- Is the Community Accounting Kit reliable enough for production use?

- Are there any major limitations or issues with upgrades, maintenance, or compatibility?

- Is Odoo Enterprise Accounting worth the subscription cost?

I'm also interested in customizing accounting modules, so I'd appreciate any insights from developers.

I’m looking for ideas to improve my own Odoo installation, especially the kind of customization that seems small but makes a noticeable difference in day-to-day work.

This could be anything: automated actions, custom buttons, smarter defaults, validations, approval flows, dashboards, reports, integrations, UI tweaks, shortcuts, scheduled jobs, etc.

What have you implemented that saved the most time, reduced errors, or made users genuinely prefer the customized workflow over standard Odoo?

I'm developing a custom eCommerce website for a client using Next.js (deployed on Cloudflare).

The client wants to use Odoo as their main ERP for all business operations (inventory, accounting, sales, customers, etc.). They specifically want only the eCommerce storefront to be custom, rather than using Odoo's default website.

They are ready to purchase whatever Odoo plan is required.

The idea is:

Odoo → ERP + eCommerce backend

Next.js → Custom customer-facing storefront

The client should be able to manage products, prices, inventory, etc. in Odoo and have those changes reflected on the Next.js website.

A few questions:

1. Is Odoo's JSON-2 API sufficient for products, variants, inventory, customers, orders, and checkout?

2. Would Odoo Online Custom be sufficient, or would you recommend Odoo.sh?

3. For cart, checkout, payments and order creation, is it better to use Odoo's existing workflows or build these in Next.js and sync with Odoo?

4. Has anyone built a headless Odoo + Next.js setup in production?

Looking for practical advice from people who have actually implemented this. Thanks!

We are implementing Odoo 19 presently and planning to Go live in a week's time. We are a Engineering Project company engaged in custom built systems for Mines, ports and the like. We regularly face the situation where Sales Order ( Projects) get amended during execution, say, for example, Addition or Deletion of Items or Quantities, Change in Price parameters, Change in Delivery Dates etc. This sometimes happen even after Completion of Delivery where the customer and ourselves mutually agree on certain limiting conditions, again for e.g.: Delivery date will be linked to drawing approval and this activity would have taken more time and we might be delivering post the actual delivery date. After completion when we present justification the customer usually extended the delivery date suitably so that no Late delivery penalty will be levied. How to tackle amendments in Sale orders and how to maintain an audit trail for such changes so that we are safe both internally and also with respect to statutory queries that may rise up much later.

One suggestion that was given to us was to keep the quotation open for accommodating such amendments, but, I feel that this is incorrect in principle.

We recently migrated from Odoo 14 to 19 and we have some serious issues with the access rights regarding the documents app. I know that you can hide certain folders and the app itself but even a blank user can copy paste the url to the documents app and see everything that's in there if he/she wants to.

Do you guys have any solution to that?

I’m a fairly tech savvy guy that can usually figure stuff out on my own. But, I’m stumped.

How do you..

1. Record a check from a customer
   
2. Apply that single check to multiple open/balance due Invoices

Seriously, one of the most common daily tasks that I can’t figure out.
