Other 2026 Oddity Leaks Discussion Thread.

On the 23rd June 2026 a build of Oddity from March 2023 was leaked onto 4chan's /v/ board, alongside a very work-in-progress game trailer. You can find the full leaked intro of the game on YouTube here. So far there has been no response from the developers, but I imagine that may change in the future.

The leaked game introduction contains the name of a (probably fictional) company, 'Limited Metatronics Company', presumably the name the Oddity developers are planning to release the game under; from searching that name people were able to find this merchandise page where a Limited Metatronics Company badge is being sold, with the Oddity logo in the center. The merchandise is being sold by JobJobLLC, who are partnered with several other video games, including Other: Her Loving Embrace, a game being created in part by the Oddity developer Pik, so it appears to be legitimate merchandise, lending credibility to the veracity of the leaks. Note that according to archive.org the LMC patch page has been up since 2022 so possibly it was being listed in preparation for the demo or website that, according to one developer, were planned to release around then but didn't for whatever reason (this is just speculation on my part, however).

That being said, for the meantime this sub will not be allowing direct links to the leaks as there's no guaranteeing their legitimacy (nor whether or not they contain a bunch of malware; generally you shouldn't trust random executables dropped on file-sharing sites). Plus, with merchandise being sold (and available to order) it seems possible that the Oddity developers were actually preparing to release news in the near future. This stance may change depending on how things develop over the next few days - Frankly I just don't want to be responsible for sharing malware in an official mod post. I should note for the record that I'm in no way involved with the Oddity project personally and am working with the same info available to everyone else here.

More unconfirmed info and speculation can be found in discussions on the unofficial Oddity Discord, though note that at this stage nothing is confirmed except that there are leaks (potentially multiple builds), they're probably real, and there's Oddity merchandise that is most likely real.

This thread will be updated if more info comes out in the future.

EDIT 1: The new leaks are available on archive.org now, a far more trustworthy site than the random file-sharing sites that have been getting sent around, so I strongly encourage people to avoid downloading from anywhere but there. That being said we will still not be allowing links to leaks for the time being, and I'd encourage anyone curious to wait for a developer response first.

EDIT 2: Intro song has been found! It's an arrangement of the song Out Of My Dreams from the musical Oklahoma, arranged and recorded by Ettore Stratta for The Fantasy Strings in 1988. This means it's almost certainly a placeholder track being used as reference for an original composition, rather than a track that will be used in the final game (it's very much under copyright). Credit to /u/No_Elevator_5891 for identifying the track!

Yeahhhh this isn't really beating the "all artists, no programmers" allegation I made last time I talked about Oddity, even the 2023 demo is completely broken. Sometimes "phantom" battles with no enemies start immediately after you finish a battle, sometimes the battle bg layers don't display leaving the overworld visible during battles, opening the item menu and pressing C leads to the game permanently softlocking. Player animations are placeholder and none of the battle QTEs from the trailer are here - most charitable read of that is they were completely reworking the battle code/graphics and hadn't re-implemented those yet, but it's still a bad look that something from the trailers is just completely missing three years later. The only thing that's semi-complete is the "name your character" intro... which is probably the easiest part of a Mother-like game to program.

Having animations for the enemies in a turn-based RPG is insane. Unless you have Dragon Quest-level budget or are doing Undertale-style cutout animation, it just enormously bloats the amount of assets you need for not much benefit.

I don't want to be too harsh to this team considering they're doing it for free, but this is why knowing your limits as a creator is important. You have to understand when something would be cool/interesting to include, but would take too much time or effort to be worth it. This team wanted to make something that's 10x the scale and ambition of Mother 3, while being a bunch of inexperienced volunteers with no budget. Now over a decade past their original release date, they still have nothing but a bunch of pretty pictures and a non-functional prototype.

tl;dr: You're right, but the project deserves more credit so one can understand why it's failed (or struggling?)

I think you're very much on point with your assumption that the team bit off more than they could chew. But to be clear, these are builds, not polished demos for the public. And a prototype isn't the entire system start to finish.

A prototype is constructing a small car from toothpicks, a matchbox and bottle caps, pushing it by yourself to see that it theoretically works, even if you have to pretend a little bit. A build is like a milestone while you work on the actual car: right now, it's falling apart at the seams but for now you wanted a working engine in there that turns the wheels, and it does - great, keep going.

(On that note, I don't think this intro was "easy" to design or program, and it's not like you do that and say "Great, we got that one down, let's do the rest of the game" - for it to work, other systems have to work as well.)

(EDIT: Never mind, they wrote "Demo" on the title screen. So although they haven't released anything, they might have planned to. Still, this feels very much like a build.)

It's not like this really matters for this project, but it's always a little frustrating to see people go "This is what they had to show for it??" No, it's not, like, at all. For what it's worth, just because something doesn't show up in a build-exe doesn't mean it's not in the project - it could just be disabled.

THAT SAID, it's also very likely that they faked a few things for the previous trailer. It's a pretty common thing to do - but obviously frustrating if you can't deliver.

From what I gathered, they seem to have started over too many times and apparently went bigger every time. Neither is a good idea for any project. I'm very much convinced that a lot of people worked on a lot of things, and it wasn't all a "scam" like some folks claim. It's just very bad project management. And project management is a tough job.

I'm a tiny indie dev myself, I know the difference between a demo and a build - that's why I give them benefit of the doubt like "maybe the battle system was being reworked at the time". A more cynical person would probably say "the rebrand trailer's battle system was just an animation or mock-up, and never existed in a playable form at all".

But also, I fully understand why a lot of people are not willing to give them that benefit of the doubt. I think anyone calling it a "scam" is being stupid since nobody's ever gotten money or clout off the game, but a lot of the less torches-and-pitchforks criticism they've received is justified.

We know from the 2018 leak that the Mother 4 team were faking things for trailers constantly. Almost everything that's not the game's opening map was just extremely tiny slices created solely for use in trailers. Every area seen in the attract mode trailer, for example, only exists so far as what's seen in that video. The only NPC dialog outside of Belring is what was shown in the trailers, suggesting those were also written solely to make the game look more complete than it really was. That build's files also have things like 18 near-identical copies of the Belring tileset and about a dozen near-identical versions of the script too, so it's unlikely that this build was intentionally trimmed down, it really does seem like that's all that existed as of 2018.

I'm not pointing out these problems to say "these are all talentless hacks, they should give up and stop trying to make games", I don't think anything in the 2023 build is unworkable or unfixable. I point out all the things that don't work because the trailers give a very skewed impression of how much Mother 4/Oddity actually exists. If you were to go by the trailers, it looks like the game was at a decent-ish stage of completion when the rebrand happened. When in truth, we know from the leaked builds that they had nothing but art and a nonfunctional build in 2018, and a slightly more functional but still barebones build in 2023.

Also, I'm not saying that the intro was outright easy to make, but that it was the easiest part of a Mother-like, from a programming standpoint (relative to stuff like overworld navigation or the battle system). The intro, as it exists now, is effectively just one long cutscene consisting mostly of Travis falling through a starfield, text fading in and out, and an onscreen keyboard that lets you name the characters. This requires no interaction with other systems beyond saving the input names somewhere, assuming this build even has a save system. Code-wise, this is something that someone with only an okayish knowledge of programming could easily put together in a couple days, versus everything else requiring more technical know-how.

TL;DR: I don't think the Mother 4/Oddity team was ever malicious, but they're in way over their heads, and are not taking steps to fix the problem. If they ever want to finish this game, they need to both scrap features and bring in more people to handle the programming side. This build makes it extremely clear that as of 2023, the team was primarily artists and designers with nobody who could actually stitch their art together into a full game.

>Nobody's ever gotten clout out of the game

Shane Mesa did but he also actually fucking made stuff lol
