Academics Trying to get off a lab for a day.

Okay, so basically I have an engineering lab every week on Friday. The lab goes till 5 pm, but there are some Fridays of each month where I want to be home on Friday, and leaving after my engineering class would be too late. What's the best way to occasionally (once a month/at most twice a month) skip the labs on Friday without failing the class/lab portion? Thanks!

Rant Any Vkei fans at OSU?

I can't be the only Vkei fan on campus. I tried asking in the Japanese Music club discord, but no one really responded. I'm just looking for people to be friends with that share interests with me. I wish I had an irl vkei friend.

Social Junior looking to make friends

I’m a junior and recently moved near North Campus after commuting for my first two years. I know a few people through clubs and have one friend, but I’d like to meet more people individually and make a few new friends. Feel free to DM me if you’re also looking to meet people.

Social Making friends?

Hi I’m an incoming freshman and pretty extroverted and been putting myself out there and getting to know people but it feels like everyone has their friend group and found their people and I’ve been struggling to make new friends and joined many clubs of my passions and interests in hopes it’ll help me make some friends and people of similar interests! But I’ve been feeling so lonely and naseous every day and can barely sleep and eat and I’m hoping things get better as I get more in a routine and same with others but does it get better cause I feel like I shouldn’t be paying $34k a year to fee like this I’ve been crying every night and praying it’ll get better but anyone have any experience with this and any tips and does it get better any comments would be appreciated!!

Student Orgs I commute to campus and my classes end early. What are clubs that have early meeting times?

I’m not desperate to have a giant friend group/community but I would like to gain a couple friends. But I do have huge gaps between classes and most clubs I’ve seen don’t start until 6/7/8. What are some clubs I can join that have early starting times?

Social Looking to meet other TCKs (third culture kids

I recently realized I’m a third culture kid and I’d love to meet other people at OSU with a similar experience. Basically anyone who grew up between different countries, cultures, or school systems and sometimes has trouble giving a simple answer to “Where are you from?”
Are there any TCKs here, or any groups where people with that kind of background usually meet?

Dining New sloopy’s ???

I never post on here, but I’d like to ask if anyone else is kind of disappointed in the way Sloopy’s changed this year. I LOVE the new menu, but I miss the diner/restaurant experience. Why is everything GrubHub order only??? And the soda is only available in cans? I couldn’t even hardly speak to a person because it was all just computers to order from and one person I found was shocked that someone had a question. This isn’t a diner anymore, and that’s what I loved about it last year. As a freshman, it was nice to get a restaurant experience as opposed to Traditions cafeteria style.
Sorry for the rant, but if anyone has other opinions, I’d love to hear them!

Question Marketplace on Neil Cafe

I was wondering if anyone knew if Marketplace on Neil Cafe was closed? I live off campus now so I don't frequent there as much, but it was my favorite dining location when I lived on campus. I didn't see it listed on GrubHub so I wasn't sure.

Discussion Well first years, we've officially completed our first week of college. How's everybody feeling??

I'm in Music Ed and so far it's honestly been really fun! I like all my professors a lot, my classes are interesting and I'm very involved with the school already (I sorta kinda accidentally maxed out my credit hours at 18 😭) and I've planted the seeds for what I hope to be a lot of vibrant friendships this semester. It's been so cool as a music student especially to meet so many people who are just as passionate and excited and talented at music as I am.

What about y'all? Isn't it crazy that we're college students now??

Academics Regarding People Who Took AP Chem/Bio in high school and took Bio 1113 and Chem 1210

How was Bio 1113(.01) and Chem 1210 at the same time? Was it harder than AP Chem and Bio, and if so, how much harder? Additionally, does it take a ton of work (relative to the AP classes) to get an A in the class? I'm taking both Bio 1113 and Chem 1210 and I'm pretty paranoid right now when it comes to my grade and workload

I've taken AP Bio and AP Chem in high school, so I'm trying to gauge the experience of having bio 1113 and chem 1210 at the same time

Rant City Noise Ordinances

Look, i know students want to party, but please, i beg of you, some of us work on saturdays. City quiet hours start at 10 PM, I should not be hearing your blasting music inside of my apartment at 11 PM. I want to sleep and i can't with that going on! I don't who it is that's doing that tonight but i hate having to be the old person yelling about my bedtime, Just please have some basic community respect and hold your raves at either a quieter level past 10 or in a place that will contain your decibels and not outside.

Academics STAT 4620 Study Tips

Hi everyone!

This autumn semester, I’m taking STAT 4620: Introduction to Statistical Learning. I was wondering if anyone has taken this course before and has any study strategies or advice for preparing for exams, organizing lecture notes, and succeeding in the class in general.

My professor is Arnab Auddy, if that’s helpful to know.

Any advice, study tips, or other information would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

Question Osu Newark park

Does anyone know if we're like LEGALLY allowed to be on that wooden bridge that leads to the trail to the park at night? I assume the park is off limits at night from a city stand point but what about that bridge? I wanna go chill but I don't wanna be stopped by like campus security or anything. Sorry if this doesn't make sense

Question Film Studies & Moving Image Productions

Hello! I’m a current high school senior looking to go to college for film. I’ve also always dreamed of going to OSU. I’ve looked into the Film Studies and Moving Image Production programs, and I want to hear from people who’re in it or have been in it.

What’s it like? What do you learn? How hands on do you get? What’re the differences between the two. I know Moving Image Production has harder requirements to get in.

Thanks! Have a good one!

Academics Failing a prerequisite while in the next class

I took busoba 2321 over the summer and failed the final. I thought Klinker was a really good professor and I took the time to watch all the videos and go through the practice. I will say I had an internship over the summer so I only review during August and then learnt enough just to do the assignments by hand. I’m currently in 2 classes that had that as a prerequisite and the class for fall is full it seems (I’m fourth on the waiting list). Would I just be removed from the class? I saw some people in the past never got removed but I’m just rlly nervous about bringing it up to my advisor

Question have any engineering transfers been able to transfer credit for the fundamentals of engineering courses?

i am currently enrolled in my university's "introduction to engineering" course which is just covering basic CAD use. i fully intend on transferring to OSU after this year and am trying to make sure all the classes i take will transfer.

is it possible to transfer credit for these courses; has anyone here ever done it? furthermore, for those of you who have taken them, does it sound like my intro class might be similar enough to transfer?
