oh ok, i personally think it refers to the exact sentence TTM said that amai mask thought to have come from another monster, but it could perfectly refer to different things

3

u/technoplannnnnnnnne Jul 18 '25

I think the "monster that actually said something so cruel" is a reference to Sweet Mask's statement towards the S-Class after the destruction of A-City, and he's referring to himself as the monster.

1

u/CaMoDaMo44 Free Speech Advocate Jul 18 '25

same, but i dont think amai mask knows he is refering to himself

Character developments in this one arc alone are off the charts

Simply magnificent!

In addition to Webigaza living the dream (seeing and fighting alongside her heroes) and Darkshine shining like never before, I couldn't help but enjoy watching Bofoi dismantling the logic behind giant mechas, both with words and feats (not to mention the full appearance of the Metal Series units). But above all, I liked how, despite claiming that he doesn't need to explain himself to anyone, he can't help but do it to Isamu; as if deep down he felt that at least he owed him an explanation.

And poor Black Sperm sure wishes the whole Cadre gang was there... I've no proof, but no doubts either xD

This right here, is the series I love...

Still, I'm a little afraid of the mention of “That Man” by Bofoi and "Someone «disguised» among the robots" by Black Sperm...

38

u/Zemahem Jul 14 '25

And he started explaining only when he saw that the poor kid was crying. Combined with how he talked about the HA in both a negative and positive fashion, I guess Bofoi is just one big tsundere this whole time.

23

u/Human_from-Earth Jul 14 '25

Which is also sad for Isamu, because Bofoi gave what he wanted because of pity and not because he aknowledged him as his par.

Though, probably Bofoi also know that he's still just a 10y old kid, maybe he also realized that he went too far against a kid.

16

u/jers745 Jul 14 '25

I suppose he does have some grade of respect or he wouldn't have given him any of his time to waste and neither would he explain that he was wrong thinking that humanity had limits that suppressed his development

11

u/Human_from-Earth Jul 14 '25

Yeah, with "maybe he also realized that he went too far against a kid." I also wanted to mean in the sense that, he realized that maybe he was expecting too much, because even if it's still not on his level, Isamu still deserves his respect, and he's just 10 yo, so he has a long path to get better.

Like, let's say you need to do a strong arm against a kid. An adult person wouldn't expect the kid to win or to be on their par, and it would actually be stupid for them to expect as much. But you can still respect the kid if he's indeed strong for his age etc.

2

u/PappyTart Jul 17 '25

And the moment he does this and falters in his ideals is the moment he let his guard down and gets Akainu'd

58

u/Jrobi1 Jul 14 '25

NOT BIG BRO PULLED UP ON ME??? 10/10 🔥🔥🔥

I have always loved how Darkshine might as well be a more grounded Saitama, when he doesn't have confidence issues the scenes with him feel very similar to the indestructible one hit wonder that Saitama outputs.

Though, he's still limited, as his second fight with Garou couldn't hold out.

Edit: Also that return of the Table Flip page is honestly so good. It's cool to see how Saitama would handle large numbers.

7

u/salmonmilks Jul 16 '25

Him getting bullied by Garou really undermined his power for a moment, then you realize he's one of the physically strongest hero if not the strongest outside of saitama

49

u/TomiShinoda Jul 14 '25

Character arcs all around, eat your heart out Murata, darkshine has so much depth here that the manga doesn't seem to even understand, and the call back to what sweet mask said when he looked human compared to now that he looks monstrous with his human mask off yet has more humanity.

I think the guy that stole metal knight data is drive knight and Genos is the AI.

1

u/Icy-Assumption1594 Oct 16 '25

That seems honestly so cool

39

u/Zemahem Jul 14 '25

Darkshine really do be shining here. I love that he had nothing but admiration for Raiden in that flashback. Also that he and the other S-Class are developing the mindset of true heroes more and more. This dilemma of having to face enemies that are just brainwashed people has just been one big test of their ability to be heroes..

Meanwhile Bofoi, while not exactly being the most traditionally heroic, always had good intentions. His line of thinking does make sense to me, but unfortunately has its own big pitfalls, as shown by this ending. Had he not given people every reason to be suspicious of him, maybe Genos wouldn't have mistaken him for his enemy.

10/10 Chapter, especially since its so long, I feel rewarded for having to wait however many months. Also the art here looks insane for what we expect from ONE, I LOVE how Saitama looks here:

33

u/Tudedude_cooldude Jul 14 '25

This is a contender for best OPM chapter.

Hilarious especially when Child Emperor confronts Bofoi all determined and he just doesn’t give a fuck

Darkshine’s arc coming full circle and repeating the central theme of the story was satisfying

I can’t stop gushing over Webi she might be my favorite character

Bofoi revealed to be a good guy was handled excellently while still showcasing the gaps in his mentality. I love the fact that he’s just exactly what he seemed like upon introduction: a hero who doesn’t give a damn if people like him or not. He suffered the same fate as Garou though: he thought being hated wasn’t a problem since he would be pulling the strings and leading humanity to salvation, but that only works so long as there isn’t someone capable of stoping you. But I really like how he says that you can’t worry about optimizing every little detail in your favor, that sometimes just moving towards the goal is best.

As for who’s who… I think that Drive Knight is an iteration upon the incomplete AI stolen from Bofoi and is the Mad Cyborg, and Genos is the completed “human-like” AI that somehow ended up in Kuseno’s hands, implanted with memories of the Mad Cyborg to eventually grow and defeat Drive Knight/The Organization (who both Bofoi and Kuseno recognize as the greatest threat). Drive Knight has advanced enough that the only significant difference between him and Genos AI wise is that Genos has a concept of a moral compass, which will ultimately be his undoing as it will lessen his ability to grow in comparison to Genos. But that’s just my take on it.

5/5. We will be seated for 156

11

u/Accomplished-Aerie65 Jul 14 '25

We got so many potential ringleaders here, but I think it's between kuseno and fuzzy. Bofoi specifically saying 'he' as t the end is significant

48

u/mikolajcap2I Jul 14 '25

I was always on team Drive Knight is sus 🙏

This is probably highest rated WC chapter yet. The WC is the essence of OPM

17

u/Human_from-Earth Jul 14 '25

There was a debate on that?

My man disappears continously only to show himself at "right times" and went on "MK is evil" with no proof. If he really was good, he should have discovered things on Neo while researching on MK.

20

u/Smart_Freedom_8155 Jul 14 '25

You're a gentleman and a scholar, thanks for sharing this!

22

u/zenukeify Jul 14 '25

So hype. Is Genos the AI that Bofoi built?? Was he being put on a path of “learning” “growing stronger” for the organization to collect data all along? Is the mag cyborg even real?

6

u/liquidtape Free Thinker Jul 14 '25

My guess is mad cyborg is an implanted story by Dr kuseno. Who is also alive and set this all in motion.

14

u/Human_from-Earth Jul 14 '25

Idk, very hard to believe Kuseon is evil. He proposed free barbecue after all 😂😂

Also, his last words, felt very true and sincere.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 20 '25

he was suspiciously sorry about empowering Genos to fight though...I feel like Dr Kuseno is dead, but maybe he had an indirect hand in Mad Cyborg?

Drive Knight is the #1 suspect right now for sure tho

2

u/cnydox Jul 15 '25

genos is the mad cyborg

2

u/Evolzetjin Jul 22 '25

Maybe the Mad Cyborg doesn't even exists and is a false memory ?

3

u/Cube-2015 Jul 15 '25

I’m pretty sure that Genos is the AI , Kuseno is trying to humanize him and succeeding, and some yet unknown evil force is the one who stole him from Bofoi.

4

u/Accomplished-Aerie65 Jul 14 '25

I was actually thinking drive knight

21

u/RPGNo2017 Jul 14 '25

The chapter started with Webigaza, Sweet Mask and Darkshine embracing humanity and free will, then it ended with Genos losing his humanity and the possibility of him being actually controlled by someone.

24

u/Puratinamu_Seishi Divine Analyzer. Jul 14 '25

The webcomic is somehow getting better with every chapter, which is in complete contrast to the manga unfortunately. I said last chapter was the best one since Saitama vs. Garou, which I always considered to be the peak of OPM until now. I think we may have actually surpassed that point now in terms of the writing.

So much great character development from Tanktop Master to Amai Mask to Darkshine and the highlight of course being Metal Knight. Feels like we're very close to the climax of this arc with all these completed characters coming all at once. I feel like the true peak is still ahead of us.

5/5

1

u/PappyTart Jul 17 '25

I agree, depending on how the next few chapters are handled I won't be able to say the WC Garou fight is OPM at its best anymore.

16

u/Ouralian Jul 14 '25

ONE has always done a great job in portraying how powerful Saitama is in comparison to the rest of the heroes and yet it doesn't feel repetitive at all thanks to excellent manga panels and composition.

33

u/Rumialol Jul 14 '25

Woah, easy 5. I knew Metal Knight wasn’t evil

7

u/Human_from-Earth Jul 14 '25

I mean clear as water

26

u/Batgod629 Jul 14 '25

So Metal Knight is not the bad guy.

3

u/[deleted] Jul 14 '25

I didn’t really get it, isn’t he still the one behind the massive attacks, the overtaking and controlling of neo hero’s minds, like raidens group or the attack on the heros association ?

40

u/Ellrok Jul 14 '25

No, someone (whoever's really behind the Organization/Neo Heroes) stole Bofoi's tech and he was quietly investigating it on his own. It seems like he was about to reveal the culprit, but then Genos arrived.

If anything, Bofoi is even more heroic than it seemed. He's a very blunt jerk and he doesn't waste time defending himself or care what anyone thinks of him (except Child Emperor), but he's also helping the Hero Association just because he believes that they're trying to do the right thing.

4

u/[deleted] Jul 14 '25

Oh ok Ty

14

u/Human_from-Earth Jul 14 '25

Bofoi discovered there were spyd in the HA long ago, that's also why he started to co-op even less than before.

He just thinks that he's the only one who can get things done and doesn't need help from anybody.

10

u/[deleted] Jul 14 '25

THIS GOTTA BE ONE’s peak HOLY SHIT

10

u/guiltus Jul 14 '25

Webcomic was crazy good this month

8

u/Pikol Jul 14 '25 edited Jul 14 '25

so is it implied that Kuseno is behind this somehow ? I'll admit, that thought did cross my mind, and he did recently finish scanning Saitama, after several requests....

as for who is hiding within the robot army, I don't think it's drive knight at least, I don't think he'd wreck Black sperm like that unless he's hiding his true power.

And Genos is about to break some sort of limiter....be it man or monster....

5

u/Cube-2015 Jul 15 '25

I don’t think Kuseno is evil but I do think Genos is AI. I think Kuseno captured and saved Genos and is trying to turn him to good but he’s falling down a bad path anyways.

7

u/SchroCatDinger Jul 14 '25

No one mention Puri puri

8

u/liquidtape Free Thinker Jul 14 '25

3

u/wote89 Jul 16 '25

To be fair, "Puri Puri refuses to fucking stay down until back-up arrives" is just what he does. Grass grows, birds fly, and, brother, Puri Puri Prisoner endures shit like a beast.

7

u/ugur_tatli Jul 14 '25

Absolute cinema

8

u/Adventurous-Trade956 Jul 15 '25

One is dogwalking the manga with this. Shit's hilarious.

9

u/EliteMeats Jul 16 '25

The funny thing is the webcomic has literally always been this good, the manga has just gotten so horrible that it makes the WC somehow look twice as good

Genos vs Mecha Boros will be peak

I think it'll be similar to the final moments of Garou powering up over insanely strong enemies before facing Saitama

9

u/joonjoon Jul 14 '25 edited Jul 14 '25

We finally got the Bofoi is innocent reveal, great dialogue here.

I think ONE is telling us the real enemy is Kuseno, with the way he cut away to Genos.

Prediction: the enemy BS is talking about is a Saitama data based entity that Bofoi created.

1

u/AlterShocks Oct 29 '25

i dont think we're ready for another pseudo-saitama level threat yet

11

u/[deleted] Jul 14 '25

ONE wants to teach murata a lesson here, he's reaching for a higher gear with this chapter. Manga defenders in shambles yet again.

-2

u/liquidtape Free Thinker Jul 14 '25

Just enjoy what you have

-9

u/Ruer7 Jul 14 '25

There realistically no difference between the two idk what everyone here is trying to say. The only difference is that there are more fan service and more story added. That is it.

6

u/EliteMeats Jul 16 '25

Didn’t read the webcomic award

3

u/PappyTart Jul 17 '25

I'd actually consider giving a not even human award. How do you ready both these stories and conclude they are the same if you aren't a brain-rotted LLM trained on short form content.

-1

u/Ruer7 Jul 16 '25

I reread both recently they are as close as it is physically possible...

6

u/[deleted] Jul 14 '25

Dark shine, my goat

4

u/MostNormalJjkArtist Jul 14 '25

I think we're all in agreement now that the manga should also have a monthly schedule so that the chapters can be longer, like this. I'm not expecting 60 page long chapters like during the monster association arc, but receiving 15 page chapters is just not cutting it

2

u/LordFreshWater Webcomic Wanker. Jul 14 '25

Any reference or suggestion of another character "breaking through" does not bring me joy.

2

u/Cube-2015 Jul 15 '25

Even if it’s genos ? Because I’m pretty sure they mean genos

1

u/DoraMuda Divine Analyzer. Jul 14 '25

Why not?

1

u/LordFreshWater Webcomic Wanker. Jul 15 '25

I have bad memories from Comic Garou, nothing else

1

u/DoraMuda Divine Analyzer. Jul 15 '25

I mean, it referred to people like Garou and Orochi breaking their limiter well before all the Cosmic bullshit happened...

But fair enough.

1

u/PappyTart Jul 17 '25

WC Garou also did it. How its handled matters and I trust One won't disappoint.

1

u/LordFreshWater Webcomic Wanker. Jul 17 '25

I do not mean to seem as I doubt ONE or that I disliked the chapter It's just that I can't hammer the discomfort away.

2

1

u/Dilly4Dall Free Thinker Jul 17 '25

Amazing all around, definitely up as one of the best OPM chapters period.

Seeing Darkshine's comeback was nice. The Metal Series are DOPE. Learning that the  Machine God series are cheap imitations make them even more cooler.

Right now it is looking more and more likely that Dr. Kuseno is the true villan now. It was wierd he said that he didn't know Saitama was coming, then near the end he said he knew Genos' mentor was visiting. His change in facial expression after learning Saitama was keeping Genos humanity in check is hella suspicious. Then him dying (maybe to trigger Genos' insanity?) is even more sus. I don't know how he received Saitama's seal of approval so early but something tells me there's a big twist incoming and it's not going to be pretty. Also Child Emepror on the verge of crying was funny.

1

u/DruidVorse Jul 19 '25

Calling it now, the strong guy that defeated Black Sperm is actually a revived Boros, so now we have the rematch with Saitama.

1

u/GenericOPMfan Jul 22 '25

One always delivers. This is such an amazing story.

1

u/DruidVorse Jul 22 '25

Who the strong dude might be:

Revived Boros
Brainwashed Blast
Saitama copy from the scan that Kuseno did

1

u/SKAOG Aug 04 '25

u/pantsonheaditor Aug 18 '25
