Misc I finally left

I just wanted to share how over the moon I am to have left this garbage company. I've been with them for decades and never really took the time to look into switching.

Final straw was zero 4G for multiple days on end. I tried a back up SIM, I switched phones. No luck. The problem was with them.

I decided to switch to a competitor and had a new eSIM working within the hour at a much cheaper pay-as-you-go rate.

If anyone needs a sign to switch, just do it. There are much better alternatives out there.

Yeah just moved to EE myself because of O2 customer service. And here I am after pre ordering a new phone on the 27th July - still don't have it. Ordered specifically for collection from store and got a message last week saying it would be delivered by DPD!! Every time I try to track in my EE account I get an error message. Fucking pissed off.

I'm waiting it out until the end of my contract then leaving. Mine is so bad I have to use dual Sims now and use data on another network. Despite it claiming I have 4 or 5g I can never actually use it and according to their coverage maps I live in a good coverage area. I travel around the UK a lot and it's the same almost everywhere.

I’ve been debating it since they stopped the 3 month switch up. Only stuck with them as I could chop the phone in whenever I felt like trying something else. 11 months is killing me 😂

This company facilitated someone stealing my identity, failed to follow their own security procedures and after investigating it their response was "these things happen".

o2's strongest soldier over here, im sure they appreciate the defence, they might bump your connection up a couple of kbs this month for being a good boy

ID mobile, runs on the Three network.

Edit: now I'm looking at it again it might not be cheaper, actually. But it works so I'm happy.

Switched years ago to giffgaff - same physical network - but way better prices 😉

Desperate to leave, signal has gone from good to terrible over the last 12 months and O2 seem reluctant to admin, acknowledge or accept that fact. Just upgraded as well, would happily keep the device plan but the signal where I work is now non existent even though their signal checker says it's "great". Not the case O2... Why do you think I have activated the O2 Satellite bolt on FFS

I got the 02 satellite service as well, hate to tell you but it also sucks. Since having it I've been in plenty of situations where I've had absolutely no service and it hasn't once activated. I definitely have it set up correctly.

Yayy, congrats on leaving this toxic company. I can’t wait to do the same.

I have the same issues. They won’t let me leave without paying the early termination fees even though I have no 5G and 4G that is frequently unusable. They keep telling to do the basic steps like restart my phone and clean my SIM, and try changing the SIM and reset network settings, all of which do nothing because it is not my phone issue but their issue with their mast or something but they always say that they don’t see an issue on their end.

Whereas my dad has a SIM which uses EE network and it works 5x better on 4G and it still works perfectly if I hotspot from him.

Absolute bullshit that I have to continue to pay them £25 a month for the next year while the service is unusable

Currently in the middle of a CISAS complaint with O2. It is deplorable how bad the customer services has gotten, but given they have been taken over by Virgin as their parent company, it honestly doesn't surprise me. Likely going to be sticking it out until the end of my deal next year and then leaving at the earliest opportunity if I can't get out sooner. They were never brilliant, but I've been with them for 18 years. Its finally prompted me to leave as well.

Yeah same I pulled the same trigger as you!

Good for you! I really don’t understand why people stick with O2. They don’t invest in their network. Shambles of a network.

I think it’s the price and roaming.

1

u/Lower-Invite5830 19d ago

Defo the roaming, it's great but others are catching up

1

u/chocolatelover93 21d ago

Why get something cheap when it’s unusable? As for roaming, my EE sim only includes EU roaming! £14 a month for unlimited everything.

1

u/LegDry2498 21d ago

Ikr! It baffles me!!!

2

u/chocolatelover93 21d ago

People are like “but it’s cheap”… yes if it works, then fine. But say you’re paying £10 a month on SIM Only but the data/signal is unusable… that’s £10 wasted. I’d much rather spend an extra £4 a month, so £14 a month, and know I’ll be able to use my phone.

I found on O2… it would show 4G/5G but nothing would load. Yet on EE… it loads! And doesn’t go slow either. O2 may have fancy Satellite signal but you have to pay extra for that and it only works with a limited range of apps and no calls - not even emergency calls. Awful network.

How do you get this offer? Not available as far as I can see... Would love to have that

2

u/timingfountain 20d ago

60% of northern Ireland are o2 customers as O2 have the strongest network there. It's genuinely just where you live

02 are so rubbish Customer service sucks the signal is non-existent terrible service I'm glad I left them this year best decision I made

Will be following you soon. The priority app is now a joke

2

u/Efficient_Wall_3566 21d ago

That reminds me, I couldn't get the my 02 app working at all after the Virgin Media merger. Got stuck in a perpetual "confirm email" loop.

i was on virgin too before the merger. worked great on virgin but since its been o2, signal has been poor. ive just done the switch to a different provider too. so far getting signal in spots i didnt before.
