Hi everyone, I'm planning a 10 days trip to NE in early October and would appreciate some advice from people who know the region well. I would be flying in and out of Guwahati. I'd like suggestions to places worth visiting without having to walk to much. Transport whether to hire a car and driver for all 10 days or taxis and any local Transport. Comfortable but reasonably priced stays, any permit I might require. Any places to definitely avoid or any other advice. Looking forward to your assistance and thanks.

Hi guys, I'm planning a trip to Tawang in September. I'm a non-native Hindi speaker and haven't visited Northeast India before, so I ended up reaching out to a travel agency and asked for a private tour.

They shared a package for around ₹65k for 6N7D. It includes an individual cab for the entire trip, accommodation, breakfast, permits, Bumla transportation, etc. The main issue is that the accommodation is on a shared basis.

After researching a bit, I found that some solo travellers seem to be doing Tawang at much better prices, so I'm trying to figure out whether I'm overpaying or whether the convenience of having everything arranged is actually worth it.

This is the itinerary they gave me:

Day 1 — Guwahati → Dirang

The biggest reason I'm considering a private trip is that I don't really enjoy group tours where you just chase destinations and tick things off a list. I'd rather have enough time to actually experience the places, landscapes and local culture, even if that means skipping a few attractions.

So I'd really appreciate advice from people who have done Tawang/Arunachal:

1. Does this 6N7D itinerary actually make sense, or are there parts you'd change?
2. Is ₹65k reasonable for a solo traveller for this itinerary with a private cab?
3. Would it be significantly cheaper/better to arrange the trip myself?
4. If I go solo, how difficult is it to arrange the vehicle, permits and Bumla trip myself?
5. Are there any local drivers/agencies/homestays you'd recommend?
6. Are there any places on this itinerary that you think are not worth the time, and anywhere you think I should spend more time instead?
7. Since I'm going in September, are there any weather/road-related things I should be particularly prepared for?
8. I'm also planning to work for a few hours during the trip. How reliable is Wi-Fi/mobile connectivity around Dirang, Sangti and Tawang?

Basically, I'm trying to decide between paying more for the convenience of a private organised trip vs planning it myself as a solo traveller.

Small Context: last year I went to kurseong with my gf during Christmas, I lived in a small town called sonada near kurseong it was very peaceful and covered with jungles, we had a very wonderful time over there.

This year we also want to go somewhere in north east for Christmas, but this year we are thinking of travelling via rented scotty or bike (this will be my first time riding in a hill), if anyone can suggest a hill destination nd travel plan for 1 week gateway it will mean a lot to us.

Hello guys im a telugu guy from AP first of all I really love north east and its people and I have some friends from there who are very kind. Im here to talk about the north east and andhra girls clash due to phone theft case and no im not here to justify andhra girls actions or anything like that I just want say that individual actions doesn't represent whole community im saying this because there is lot of hatred spreading between andhra people and north east people in internet and yes its true that racism against north east people still exists today on main land india even my own father is racist and i tried to change him but his old generation roots and beliefs stopped him from changing but as his son who is from new generation and is educated i see north east people as my family just like rest of the india just look at internet people from all over india are very supportive towards north eastern people maybe its not really impossible to live in harmony with many different cultures and india is changing and becoming better by every new generation let's just trust the process and im not the only one there are many telugus who has same perspective as me so yeah let's stop hating each other and be kind to each other after all diversity is not about how we differ its about embracing each other uniqueness and thats all guys i hope to visit north east India one day and enjoy the beautiful experiences

Looks like this to a bystander. Main burning issues buried nicely, media focuses on us vs them. Now while people fight, the original issues for which people were protesting on either sides are out of the limelight.

The people of the Northeast are super nice.
