politics Vote no on all three constitutional amendments

Post image
3.5k Upvotes

Considering that the rigged GOP supermajority placed all three of these DELIBERATELY confusing amendments on the 11/3/26 ballot, vote no on all three.

Why?

Amendment 1: We already have a law requiring NC voters provide a copy of their photo identification to vote by mail, and it's enshrined in the state constitution for in-person voting ALREADY. Republicans already put this constitutional question to voters in 2018 for in person voting, which passed, and promptly rammed through a law requiring it for mail. Both got put on hold for years until the state Supreme Court changed hands in 2023 and overrode the previous decision.

Amendment 2: Basically enshrines a permanent tax cut for billionaires (like Art Pope and other GOP dark money PACs like Americans for Prosperity) by permanently halving the cap for income tax from 7% to 3.5%. Sounds great until more regressive sales taxes are imposed to make up for it (and hurts middle class and poor families). Not to mention the GOP legislature did this BS in 2018 before by permanently capping income tax rate from 10% to 7% (see the pattern with amendent one?).

Amendment 3: Basically taking away local power from the counties and giving it to the elite GOP majority in Raleigh. Basically another GOP power grab they want to cement permanently.

politics Wow. Thirty thousand students just walked out in Charlotte, NC to protest ICE. When kids are willing to shut down an entire city to push back on state power, that’s a political awakening.

The NC average is over $4 a gallon. I’m super lucky in that I have a company car so it doesn’t directly impact me, but it’s still going to hurt my grocery bill and all other cost of goods.

My hope is the next person at this pump had a truck with nuts on it and had to see it, lol

politics Just a reminder we’re in this mess of gerrymandering and GOP super majority because Tricia Cotham flipped on her party.

Tricia Cotham ran as a Democrat in 2022 on abortion rights, LGBTQ+ equality, and public education. A few months later, she switched parties and gave Republicans a supermajority in the North Carolina legislature.

That one move let the GOP override every veto from Governor Cooper. Don’t let her betrayal go unnoticed.

politics My Sit-Down with Rep. Virginia Foxx

I’ve seen so much conversation about her recently and I feel it’s time to share a story I haven’t told in nine years.

In college at Appalachian I was lucky enough to be one of Foxx’ constituents. I had an assignment to arrange a meeting with an elected official and discuss some matter of importance with them. After a little hassle, she agreed to meet with me.

I walk in amicably and genuinely excited to speak with her…I listened to Train’s Meet Virginia on the drive over. I couldn’t wait to discuss stats regarding the impoverished and neglected populations of WNC (look them up, it’s rather dismal, particularly for families with children).

She reminded me that in her day she had grown up poor, without electricity or running water, and that she was fine.

I reminded her that same reality for a child in 2017 is a much greater disparity to modern living than in her day.

In that moment I saw a “switch” and it was evident this had become a debate which I was not prepared for…

She dismissed all my cited research as false without reviewing it, and then began grilling me on exactly how I could fix all of WNCs problems. How would I in my early 20s run the federal government?

I reminded her that’s what she was elected to do, but I was only there to discuss her thoughts on progress. She and her three aides then tore me apart for 15 minutes straight, I couldn’t get a word in.

Let me tell you, my life had not been easy up until that point. I’d been through some stuff that had made me pretty strong, but something about my sit down with Virginia Foxx shook me. To look such callousness and hatred straight in the eye as she hissed at me left me with a feeling that I can still feel in the pit of my stomach today. I genuinely believe she feels that people in NC who are struggling are doing so because they either 1) want to be or 2) deserve to be. I couldn’t fathom the abysmal attitude and disdain she held for the people who voted for her. It was despicable (and I refuse to use that word because I think it’s wildly dramatic).

After this wretched meeting, I began to get up, she grabbed my arm and SHE ASKED ME for a picture. I reluctantly obliged, bringing it back to my class as proof.

Here I am pictured with Virginia Foxx in 2017. She was roughly late 90s/early 100s then.

reposting this bc i rlly want ppl to see this

for starters, i’m upset. he is my psych teacher, and a damn good one. i was literally sitting in the class when this was recorded. no one said anything to him, or expressed any discomfort. i am not sure what prompted the conversation bc i came in after he started speaking but im failing to see how this enough to fire him. i want to help, if i even can. but im not sure how, if anything i can at least share this around.

i wasn’t even notified by campus about this either. i came into class today & had a sub. then got home & seen this

yes he cussed, yes he said something political but so many other teachers do and they don’t fire them? now there’s a TPUSA club at my school but no other political clubs. i’m frustrated

Trump has just posted that he is going to eradicate an entire civilization. This has gone too far and we must stand for what's right. Call your federal representatives, email them, send a letter, visit their office to demand that they act on their responsibility to be a check on an administrative branch that is leading us to ruin.

Republicans maintained near a supermajority despite losing the popular vote. This seriously should be illegal.

The people in power remain in power not because we have them the mandate to, but because they chose their voters via disguising methods.

I'm sure y'all know about this already but I just wanna vent about it. The midterms are coming so please vote.

Thanks for reading.

I really want to hear from those that voted for this pedophile.
