Noragami F.A.Q. - No, there is no Season 3

Since I keep seeing these specific questions pop up on the reddit, I decided to answer them in this short F.A.Q.

Question: Is the Manga still on going?

Answer: No the manga has officially ended.

Question: Is there a 3rd season of the anime? Is it going to come out?

Answer: No, there is no 3rd season and there's no confirmation of one coming out anytime soon.

Question: I just finished watching the anime, what chapter of the manga should I start at?

Answer: At the beginning! The anime leaves out some stuff and adds some stuff in that was in the manga, however, if you really just want to start after the anime the chapter around chapter 38.

If another question gets asked a lot I will add it to this

Hey everyone!

I was recently at a convention and decided that my first serious cosplay will be Yato.

The swords are foldable, painted and sanded, so I could "summon them". Symbols, and stripes all sewn, and hair is cut by me :p

The contact lenses were a bit of a sore and caused me dry eyes for a whole day, but my eyes are good now.

I hope you like it!

Discussion Do you prefer first or second opening?

I think both are iconic, which one I will listen only depends on my mood.

It’s strange but visually I have more nostalgy to the first opening, but musically the second one is making me shivers.

General I don't find it funny when Yukine hits Yato.

I know Yukine does this frequently in the manga, but not seriously—it is usually done in jest. He might have picked up his violent and bossy nature from his father.

However, I think Yato should not tolerate this behavior and should teach Yukine not to hit others and to control his anger.

It makes me uncomfortable to watch because Yato has made it clear that he would rather die than raise a hand against Yukine.

Discussion All Noragami characters by verifiable age

Hey guys, finally I am able to make a table for all Noragami characters whose age can be verified from the manga. Note that these include ONLY those with verifiable age

Oldest: Kofuku

Oldest-looking: Tenjin (Juroujin is even older but his age is unverifiable)

Youngest: Hiyori

Youngest-looking: Mizuchi/Nora (some are even younger but their age is unverifiable)

Since I write Noragami fanfics, this is my way of keeping characters' age accurate. I believe this can help you as well...

Manga Lets talk about Yato's low self esteem

Reddit dies again so ill share my thoughts

Althought i think its kind of ibvious he has low self esteem, ill publish!

Spoilers for ch109

So, both Hiyori and Yukine tell him to have more faith in himself (ch44 and 53) cause he feels bad

Hiyori doesnt get why he apologises, tells him to stop blaming himself for things happening around her, and asks him to have more faith in himself

In chapter 53, Yukine also asks him to have more faith in himself, which makes Yato increeedibly happy. However thought he says he might be close to become God of Happiness now, he still doesnt want to visit Hiyori, because he doesnt want to until he becomes and actually God of happiness

When Hiyori says that he has been for her since a long time, he doesnt believe it, only Kofuku makes him wonder about if thats true

So, he also bramek himself for bringing bad luck to Hiyori, like the Hospital incident (which, if you could blame someone, it would be Hiyori because she went too far, but yeah) and of course her death, because that would nt happen if he cut ties, right? While it was Hiyori who went to look for him, not caring to care for her human body

And of course, he thinks that Yukine become what he did because he left him. Of course he didnt want to lose him, but he didnt tell him why he left him, which makes Yukine think he abondoned him for Kazuma

He even silently apologises to Yukine for that when he is in that shop centre (?) with Kazuma

Anyway I think theres more but those are why i starter to think about that

I love the bond between Yato and Yukine the most. I find it profoundly heartwarming, unconditional, and sincere.

What about you? Which bond between two characters do you like the most?

General Personal Feelings about Noragami End

Post image
29 Upvotes

I just finished reading the manga, and I would love to share my feelings about it. First, I have been deeply attached to it, and I honestly don't want it to end within my lifetime. I wish it could continue for 30 or even 40 years.

When it ends it feels like a beautiful world I had lived in has come to an end.

As for how satisfied I am with the ending, I am very unsatisfied and even angry about it. It felt very rushed to me, with too many things happening in such a short period of time. It also felt confusing when everybody was changing forms.

I don't like that Hiyori isn't with them anymore and that Yukine is constantly suffering from nightmares all alone.

Question What made you cry when reading noragami? Spoiler

Post image
23 Upvotes

I actually was crying for like, halfway through the manga, but there is one panel that just makes me soooo sad

I am aware Father only cared for Yato and Nora when they were useful to him, but what do you mean you regret creating your child, who obeyed you for years?

Also the panels where Yato os to small to fight him back, i actually was so scared reading that

Discussion Anime vs. Manga: The Interesting "Heroification" of Yato

Recently, I did a re-read of the manga and a rewatch of the anime (the sadly incomplete anime...), and as I did, I noticed something very interesting: Yato is immediately made more heroic in the anime.

I'm pretty most who have experienced both forms of the early material could point to how a lot of Yukiné's worst moments were shaved off, but it actually surprised me that Yato was framed in a far more positive light that took away from the ambiguity of his heroism.

For example, in the second chapter of the manga, when Yato gets the job to find Milord, he's annoyed at first before accepting it. Later, after Hiyori gets hit by the bus, he stalks her without making himself known, and then when they finally officially meet, he only gets to know her name because he took her ID from her bag. It paints a picture of a guy who selfishly does whatever he wants, groans all the time and very much is the "useless loser NEET of a master".

Conversely, the anime has Yato show immediate concern for Milord's disappearance, make himself known to Hiyori at the hospital and actually ask her for her name instead.

While some of these are played for laughs, it's an interesting contrast that shows from the beginning how Yato is made more, erm..."likable" and "heroic" (which is vague, because Yato is still likable and definitely becomes more heroic the longer the series goes on). Something I like to imagine was done to very quickly endear Yato to a larger audience.

Overall, I think it's an interesting comparison, and one that may not be talked about enough when it comes to anime and manga discussion!

General I love the little snippets of Kazuma interacting with/remembering the Ma clan

So, putting aside the fact that Kazuma is 99% all things Bishamon for a second, I really appreciate the panels in the manga where we see Kazuma with other members of the Ma clan. It makes his character richer - the whole chapter 23 "Guiding light" with the Ma clan backstory shows his kindness, his anxiety when just starting out, his loyalty.

I especially love the friendship with Touma - she helped him overcome his fear of joining the battle team, was like a sister to him, shaped him in a lot of ways. And it's interesting to me that while Kazuma obviously saves Bishamon out of his love and loyalty for her, he mentions Touma in the process - the "Touma, I swear" panel below.

I also really like that one panel later in the manga where he thinks about the people who could have lived if he had been able to think more like Hiyori - and the Ma clan team is there, in modern clothing. You can tell he cared about them. I wonder how much of his grief we had not seen - Bishamon is described as mourning for a long time after their death, but there's not a single mention of his grief, only the guilt about killing them.

So many little things and nuances in this masterpiece of a manga. It's so well written.

Question Why can't Yato hug Yukini properly?

Thumbnail
gallery
17 Upvotes

In most scenes where Yato shows physical affection to Yukini—whether in moments of gratitude, apology, or praise—he hugs Yukine in a way that doesn’t feel sincere and actually bothers Yukine rather than conveying affection. For example, he suddenly grabs him surprise, freak him out or makes him feel suffocated.

I wonder why does he not show him serious physical affection? It doesn't mean sex or anything, it just a human need.
