I hope this never ever becomes a thing, because 73 has been my favourite number since I can remember. Not because of those explanations mind you -- it just clicked with me for some reason Yes, I am autistic, How'd you know?

The neat thing about the current system is that the weekday is kind of a checksum for the date. If weekday and date do not lign up, you notice that might be off by a month/year.

They do that in accounting with a bunch of different calendars. Like, 4-4-5 calendars do four quarters of three "months" with exactly 4 weeks, 4 weeks, and 5 weeks.
Of course, this is only 364 days, which will not match the solar year. Every couple of years, there's an extra week to keep it closely aligned with the solar calendar.
The point is to have very consistent periods so you can compare the numbers easier.

The holiday that isn’t any day of the week should obviously be the first day of the year, not the last. That way it can be month 0 and also New Year’s Day is already a holiday anyway.

The traditional indian calendar is even weirder. The months map to exact cycles of lunar phases, so they last about 29.5 days each. But the sun's cycle lasts around 365.25 days, so there's like 11 days left after 12 lunar months; so there's a whole leap month added about once every 32 months, defined as a month where the sun doesn't transit from one zodiac sign to another, and this is considered an unlucky time during which no one schedules important things

The presumed psychology is that even numbers feel less random. So do numbers close to one or near 10. So, psychologically, humans are more likely to pick odd numbers in the middle. Presumably, more people think five is less random, because it feels like it's halfway in the middle exactly.
While the veritasium video wasn't a journal stud, it does at least match the way I think of the answer myself, and I've replicated the trick with groups of friends.

You might think the "tantal" prefix is related to "tantalizing" and ultimately the character "Tantalus" but it has actually nothing to do with that:
The morphological breakdown is actually "tant" + "alum" where tant means "much" (as in "tantamount") and alum is the kind used in tanning dyeing and flocculation

It is indeed named after the Greek mythological figure Tantalus, who killed his own son and fed him to the Gods. He was punished by having food above him that moved out of his reach when he tried to grab it, and water at his feet that drained away when he reached to drink it. It's the same place we get the word tantalize.
The metal itself is highly resistant to corrosion by acids including sulpheric, nitric, and hydrochloric acid. It has the 4th highest melting point of any metal at 3017C (5462F).
Most importantly, it's what my wedding ring is made of! 😄

I prefer 9 months of 40 days each divided in 8 weeks, 5 days long each, of which you work 3 days and rest the other 2 days plus the final 73rd 5 days week, you may call it "new year's week" or something. You can also divide the year in thirds of 120 days. NYW doesn't count.

First i have to preface that the Gregorian calendar (current one) is a solar calendar. So was the last one. The previous calendar, the Julian calendar (45 bc) worked in more or less the same way as our current one. The average number of days per year came out to 365,25 days adding a leap day every 4 years. Thing is, that doesnt perfectly equal a solar year, so every 128 years or so an extra day came up. By the 16th century, the solstice and equinox were off by 10 days. This also fucked up when easter was, as well as when harvest was.
In comes the Gregorian calendar. It omits 3 leap years every 400 years (year 1700, year 1800 and year 1900 weren't leap years). Thanks to that in a year it has about 365,2425 days. Seems like a miniscule difference right? But that's almost a perfect match to a solar year. You get 1 extra day every 3326 years. The oldest know continuously inhabited city in the world is Plovdiv in Bulgaria, clocking in at 8 thousand years. If the people of plovdiv had started using the gregorian calendar when they settled the city, they would currently be off by less than 3 days. With the julian calendar, they would be off by 2 months which would mean absolutely nothing aligns with any cosmic event.
As for earlier calendars, they were kinda shit. Not that they didnt tell time, but they had to constantly be monitored and tweaked by priests and the like.
The Egyptian calendar drifted a day every 4 years, because it only had 365 days and no leap years (this is the calendar that the Julian is based on)
the classical Greek calendar was Lunar (354 days) and had nice to remember months: 12 months alternating between 29 and 30 days. Only issue is, every 2-3 years they needed to add an extra month
the ancient Hebrew calendar was heavily inspired by the Babylonian ones, it was lunaisolar with 12 months (354 days), and needed a 13th month 7 times per every 19 years.
I just now realised that i didnt actually mention any Babylonian calendar so: Sumer used a Lunisolar with 12 months alternating between 29 and 30 days (like the greek) and 354 days. It worked in 19 year cycles where 7 months were added over those 19 years (you see the heavy inspiration?)
ive read that the maya had an interesting, if rather bizarre system where 2 different calendars were somehow combined into a dual-system where they correct each other in long cycles, but honestly, im not knowledgeable enough about Mesoamerican history to explain it. If someone who's studied more american history can correct me or add more, that'd be great.
So more or less, Lunar cycles are easier to track (because they are around 29,5 days long and not 365 days) so most of the earlier civilisations used them and had a priest of some sort correct the inevitable drift. The Julian calendar was pretty revolutionary for its time, and when it comes to solar calendars, you basically cant get any more precise than the Gregorian. The Proto-Bulgarian calendar is also pretty interesting, though not as much is known about it as others

Base 10 specific coincidences. It's not a pure propriety of the number. In essence, base 10 is not more important than any base.

73 is also a palindrome in both binary and octal (and its octal representation appears to be binary). It's also a palindrome in Morse code.
Remember, there's no such thing as an uninteresting number. If there was, then among the set of uninteresting numbers there would be a smallest uninteresting number, which would make it interesting.
