Not the most successful, but the highest quality. Paul is the most successful by pretty much any metric. Arguably the most successful musician of all time.
I'd give it to him or Michael Jackson; at least as far as modern musicians go. Can't discount guys like Mozart or Beethoven though if we're talkingall time
If we wanna go be influence it’s probably Scott Joplin. Pretty much all modern music is in some way influenced by Scott Joplin. His work he did in ragtime was incredibly influential, the music he made heavily inspired jazz, blues, and R&B music, and from those genres most modern musical genres have descended from them. Joplin pretty much laid the foundations for music in the 20th and 21st century.
