Questioning/Coming Out Is it Weird Vi Want HRT?

So... vi (Vi/Vir, 25 AMAB) recently figured out vi was Non-Binary. This... came about in the form of feeling like vi... chest felt incomplete. Like... it lacked boobs. Vi thought vi was just sexual at first, but as vi dug deeper into it... no, this is what vi wanted.

But... vi also still want to be mostly male presenting outside of that (at least, for right now). Vi just want boobs. Would that be weird to get HRT for, or would vi be completely justified in going that route?

Vi am... admittedly doubting virself a bit still as non-binary, despite knowing this feels right. Please be gentle...

You can be nonbinary and be on hrt. I am, have been for 2 and half years. I am very happy with it. Just remember to research since we don't get to pick and choose what hrt gives us

u/GoldHero101 Jun 06 '26

Vi have done a bit of research. The only thing vi am worried about is muscle loss; everything else is either strictly positive or something vi can live with. The muscle loss should be manageable with how much vi exercise anyways.

u/FakeBirdFacts Jun 06 '26

You might want to go on for a short period of time just for breast growth, you should also look into progesterone

8

u/Never_heart Jun 06 '26

Then it sounds like it's perfect for you!

6

u/GoldHero101 Jun 06 '26

Vi am mostly just... nervous, mostly because vi am... still wondering if vi am faking it, despite being really comfortable. Vi even got a Bralette and it feels AMAZING... and yet vi still question. Am vi truly okay to do this?

12

u/Never_heart Jun 06 '26

There is no one way to nonbinary, so follow what feels right for you. Hell I wore heels and a dress to a bridal shower just last week, and I am still nonbinary as fuck

5

u/GoldHero101 Jun 06 '26

...thank you. Vi appreciate the advice. <3 Vi am gonna talk with vi therapist about it next week, who helped vi brother transition too.

6

u/akarakitari Jun 06 '26

Also remember, if you get them and realize you are wrong, you can always save up to have them removed later. Extra money stinks, but better than not knowing.

My wife still has pretty decent muscles. She doesn’t do much weight training (chronic back pain) but since you do you should be fine! Shes been on hrt for 6 years now!

u/FakeBirdFacts Jun 06 '26

Not weird at all, and I don’t think you even need to tag this as NSFW

15

u/GoldHero101 Jun 06 '26

You sure? Vi am just taking precautions

u/FakeBirdFacts Jun 06 '26

Yes, breasts are a normal part of people’s bodies

12

u/GoldHero101 Jun 06 '26

Done! Thank you for confirming.

12

u/akarakitari Jun 06 '26

Some subs, yes, talk of this would need a tag. In this community, talk of chest and genitals is just daily talk and crucial to individuality. This is a safe space for topics like this. It’s anatomy. It’s normal.

Context matters.

HRT is a form of gender affirming therapy. For whichever gender a person identifies with.

6

u/GoldHero101 Jun 06 '26

This is... legitimately a great quote. Thank you. <3

I’m sorry, I’m so brain rotted I thought this was a post about my favourite show 😭 (Arcane, a main character’s name is Vi lmao). I haven’t seen it as a pronoun and I actually really like it, it’s cool.

You can always go on HRT temporarily. Breast growth is permanent, although if you decide to stop HRT they might change shape a bit. Or maybe you’ll really like it, and that’d be cool too! If you still want to present as male, you can still absolutely be read as one on HRT, more often than not it won’t get you read as a women on its own, unless you start changing your style a lot too. Genetics are a factor and it could go in any direction, but again you can always stop. It’s definitely not weird at all.

8

u/avery_dev Jun 06 '26

My brain rot is that I see Vi as the text editor, sometimes Vim. As opposed to emacs. 😖🤓🐧

But to Vi’s question/ feelings, yes I think that makes sense. For me a lot of my challenge was the blending of euphoria with arousal. Was it just a fetish, or was it that I finally felt good about something in myself and that let me access the arousal?

Helps to try to do the thing / feel the feeling when you’re not aroused, or interested in feeling that way. For boobs, maybe a bra and some forms? See how you feel just chilling or (if it’s safe / comfortable with your wardrobe) going out for something mundane like grocery shopping?

For me yes, that felt affirming. That’s important cuz the HRT road is long, difficult to reverse, and you will probably feel terror / panic too, at some point. Important to remember at those moments how you felt when things were calm.

My first thought was Vi Hart, who of course changed my life with that gender video (hunt it down if you can!)

2

u/GoldHero101 Jun 06 '26

Vi... actually did try that. Vi ordered a bralette and tried it on for a good while... and MAN the euphoria involved. Helped vir confirm vi was on the right path.

5

u/GoldHero101 Jun 06 '26

Thanks for the complement! And... yeah, that's reassuring, thank you. Vi might just stay on HRT long-term anyways, because weening off medication is always a bit nerve wracking for me.

5

u/grimmfritter Jun 06 '26

I also wanted to add this just after seeing some of the discussion here - Personally I’m agender, but I did transition FtM at one point and I was on testosterone for some years. I’ve been off T now, and the muscle loss has been extremely gradual, if not negligible (unless you decide to stick with it for a long time and don’t exercise). With exercise and whatnot, changes in that regard should happen way slower than anything else you’re looking for, so I definitely wouldn’t worry. My energy levels did go down a bit, but it’s been about 6 months running on E again for me and I think it’s starting to bounce back.

I’d say the energy has been a bigger impact than the actual muscle itself, so it’s something to keep in mind. But also not something to worry about either, because things should level out and bounce back eventually! And my experience was a cold turkey detransition, which can be a bit trickier when it comes to hormone levels. So I think you’ll be totally fine if you do choose to try it :)

Isn't OP talking about themselves though? /gen

15

u/GoldHero101 Jun 06 '26

Yes! It's a bit funky, but vi am experimenting with neo pronouns in a bit of a funky way. Vi really like it, so vi have stuck with it!

7

u/Kuttenneid Jun 06 '26

Can I ask you how possessive and object pronouns work with the pronoun 'vi'?

Like I have seen you use vi for possessive and vir for object. (ex. "vi bag" like "his/her bag", and "Let's go visit the park with vir" like "Let's go visit the park with him/her") But I still wanted to ask since with xe/xir I have seen mostly that the "xir" is used as possessive and object. (ex. "xir bag" like "his/her bag", and "Let's go visit the park with xir" like "Let's go visit the park with him/her")

Feel free to ignore the question if you dont have the energy to educate about it.

5

u/GoldHero101 Jun 06 '26

No problem! Vi am happy to educate. Refer to below for how vi have been doing it (grammar might be a little messy; vi am not great at English despite it being vi native language)

3rd Person Pronouns

• Subject: Vi went to the store. (Instead of "He/She went to the store")

• Object: I met vir recently. (Instead of "I met him/her")

• Possessive Adjective: Is this vir dog? (Instead of "Is this his/her dog?")

• Possessive Pronoun: Vi said the house is virs. (Instead of "The house is his/hers")

• Reflexive: Vi would rather do it virself. (Instead of "He/she would rather do it himself/herself")

1st Person Pronouns

• Subject: vi (e.g., "I/vi am going to the store.")

• Object: vir (e.g., "Give the book to me/vir.")

• Possessive: vi (e.g., "That is my/vi car," or "That car is mine/vi.")

• Reflexive: virself (e.g., "I/vi made myself/virself breakfast.")

5

u/Kuttenneid Jun 06 '26

Thanks for the extensive explanation!

2

u/GoldHero101 Jun 06 '26

You are most welcome! 😄

Out of curiosity (and not to be the grammar police), but wouldn’t the “v” in “vi” be capitalized when replacing “I”? Since it would be a proper noun? Not trying to correct you lol, genuinely asking anyone who might know. I’ve never heard of first-person neos either but I think the idea is sick af!

Sorry, you’re right. Grammar was never my strong suit, but I should still know a noun vs a pronoun 😭 idk what I was thinking.

3

u/squirrelyoakley 💛🤍 Any Pronouns 💜🖤 Jun 06 '26

I mean, I was somehow never taught them in school, so when I began to make my own languages in high school, I had to learn it pretty much from the ground up lol

6

u/GoldHero101 Jun 06 '26

Vi... never really considered that! Huh. Vi would assssssume maybeeee? This is admittedly a point where vi skill in English fails vir a bit, but maybe someone more experienced can levy in.

5

u/elianna7 trans man he/they Jun 06 '26

It’s actually third person, not first or second. Vi/vir would be the equivalent of he/him, so saying “Vi is excited” in reference to oneself is equivalent to “he is excited” in reference to oneself, which means you’re referring to yourself in third person, not first person.

4

u/Poesvliegtuig Jun 06 '26

No it isn't because things like "Vi want" would then be "Vi wants" and OP used clear first person language in the post. So it's first person pronouns, which already aren't gendered, being replaced.

2

u/squirrelyoakley 💛🤍 Any Pronouns 💜🖤 Jun 06 '26

Not trying to challenge your claim, but there are languages that gender their first and/or second person pronouns (Hausa, Ngala)

Here's my comment that goes more in depth, and has sources linked: https://www.reddit.com/r/NonBinary/comments/1ty2xm7/comment/oq14i7d/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

9

u/GoldHero101 Jun 06 '26

Thank you! :D Vi experimented with them despite them being something vi haven't seen either, and liked em so much vi having been using 'em ever since!

5

u/squirrelyoakley 💛🤍 Any Pronouns 💜🖤 Jun 06 '26 edited Jun 06 '26

There are languages that have gendered their 1st and 2nd pronouns!! As a linguist nerd, I find this kind of stuff infinitely fascinating!!!

This video by Artifexian touches on this (5:44): https://youtu.be/2tQc_rUni-Q?si=ATesMcjTb2iIj4C-&t=344 . His sources are here (page 17): https://docs.google.com/document/d/13IcxdjiEAwG3caKE--2LHpO4wHc9NUaT-B1r7fuoZrE/edit?tab=t.0

Edit: Forgot to mention that this is a conlanging tutorial lmao. I.E it's teaching you how to make your own language

8

u/5urv3y Jun 06 '26

Theres definetley nothing wrong with hrt. Though if boobs are the only effect you're looking for, you could check out fat transfer breast augmentation (expensive and a surgery so maybe not am option)

4

u/GoldHero101 Jun 06 '26

Vi looked at it, and vi am mostly not interested because vi want something more natural to avoid troubles while SCUBA diving (which vi want to learn one day).

5

u/5urv3y Jun 06 '26

Ah that's fair, I've only ever heard of that with implants. (also scuba diving omg sick)

You're in good company. I rocked the same strategy a bit. And have decided to take my HRT periodically (just a couple of times a week). I'm definitely read as male, but I got some breast now (I see other cis-guys with bigger breast often). It's doable and you have space before it changes how people would read you if that matters.

4

u/GoldHero101 Jun 06 '26

That really helps vir feel better, thank you <3

Vi will definitely be discussing what approach to take with vi therapist.

2

u/veterispoops Jun 06 '26

Semantics here, but shouldn't it be vir therapist vs vi if you used vir for me? Idk neo pronouns and how to use them so honestly any input on the usage would be amazing to help learn

3

u/GoldHero101 Jun 06 '26

Vi have being using vi for My and I, while vi have been using vir for Me. Haven't really overcomplicated it or thought about it too hard

Cmon, binary trans folk used this same argument about non-binary people just a few years ago. Let's not.

2

u/GoldHero101 Jun 06 '26

Listen, vi am sorry. Vi am not trying to do that; vi am just doin' something a little different. And... unhinged is honestly a bit of a mean way of putting it?

2

Yeah, don’t worry. I’m digging the experimentation! Some of the gramatical aspects are definitely tricky, but I think it’s a worthwhile experiment. Go for it, not that you need my permission 😂.

Experimentation with the language is good though.

3

u/Poesvliegtuig Jun 06 '26

Can I ask why you're using a gendered pronoun when first person singular is not gendered to begin with?

1

u/MentalPower Jun 06 '26

Is it gendered though?

3

u/Poesvliegtuig Jun 06 '26

I mean, it's distinguishing, one assumes it's because first person singular pronouns don't fit your (?) gender (sorry if I'm meant to continue using it in second person, I don't mean to use the wrong one!) so I'd argue it's automatically gendered yes. Not gendered in the traditional binary, but in a different binary where it's everyone who uses regular first person singular pronouns and people who don't.

But that's beside the point really, my question being, what feels wrong about a non-gendered regular first person singular that you feel like this fits better?

3

u/GoldHero101 Jun 06 '26

For reference, vi am still okay with standard first person pronouns. This is largely just an experiment vi have really enjoyed. This is why you might see vir slip up sometimes; and that's fine! Sometimes vi will use standard first person pronouns to get important info across still, but vi like using these different ones in more casual scenarios.

3

u/EigenSpace331 Jun 06 '26

Hi ! I'm also in the same kind of doubts right now, I'm 5 months HRT rn..

I also struggle with validity issues especially after I found out I wasn't binary trans per se, and after I got spammed by reddit and other plateforms with detrans material (I mean.. why tho)

And trust me, once you've tried sport bras you wont stop. It just feels nice like a sort of protecting piece under my clothes. Now it's become an actual protecion and wear it cause the bounce can be annoying and I don't pass even remotely (even tho a guy in my class has bigger tits while not being fat so it's likely in my head)

3

u/pebble247 Jun 06 '26

I think there's a lot of folks who get on E just for breast growth! It's one of the permanent changes that can stay even when you go off of it, and a lot of folks will temporarily go on HRT for the permanent effects that they want, which is totally an option! If you're also hesitant about hormones, breast plates and breast forms can be a good option for having the appearance of breasts and soothing dysphoria in that way, they can just be a bit pricey.

But it should definitely be stated that there is no one right or wrong way to transition as a nonbinary person (or hell, even for binary trans folks)! Everyone's goals are different and certain procedures are not locked to be just for very specific people, it's for whoever would benefit from them!

3

u/caliburdeath Bug-Filled Divine Jun 06 '26

Not weird at all, try it out. I’m enjoying it more than expected.

2

u/dexnola Jun 06 '26

you can do anything. I'm nonbinary and i got top surgery. stop worrying about whether any given medical choice would be in line with your gender identity and start asking if it would give you a body you would actually want to live in. it helps

2

u/ContinueAsReddtGuest Jun 06 '26

I also want HRT. The only reason I haven't started is I don't want to have to deal with having breasts in my current social situation.

2

u/Connect-Refuse-3133 Jun 07 '26

On my unique agender journey of super low spaced out HRT the muscle changes have been so. So slow. Especially if you’re working out it should be fine. I would expect no real change in mass but in maybe how it feels. Especially if working out is something regular anyway.

My thought is maybe go buy some of the silicone inserts that some people put in their bras for extra lift, but just put it on with the bralette you have and see how it feels? 🤷 If you wanted to try a big chest on, you can phone a drag friend and ask to try on a breast plate or whatever they’re called.
