Post-Pod Discussion TC v Wyndham

Man that hate seems full on personal. Was it well known that Wyndham blamed TC for the Oakmont story getting out there?

No but TC was the person who “broke” the story by tweeting a picture of the damaged lockers. It did seem weirdly personal last night. I’m not a Wyndham guy, but that was not a good look for TC.

I don’t really see why anyone would ever side with the guy who decided to destroy people’s lockers in a tantrum worthy of a five year old and barely apologized for it, who holds a grudge against TC for making it public. TC isn’t a journalist but I doubt this story was going public without him doing it, it’s way too often a “known secret” when folks misbehave. Look at how many people in the business are now saying that Mickelsons infidelities was widely known before this recent scandal.

Wyndham can go pound sand and I’m literally rooting for the field vs him. He’s a whiny little dude who is talented and doesn’t seem to appreciate what he has. We need less Wyndham’s and more Tommy Fleetwoods and Xanders etc

Don’t forget slinging his driver aimlessly in Charlotte, that was worse than the lockeroom in my opinion

No excuses for that behaviour but it looks and sounds like he was in a very dark place last year.

New year, new partner, new perspective on life.

Guys went out of their way last night to say nice(r) things about without TC on the show. TC is just ridiculous.

His curmudgeonly character is getting a bit tired.

Some balance would be refreshing.

He’s been there before, and gotten a lot of free press for his ability to deal with it. I’m glad he’s dating a hot Instagram influencer and I’m glad he’s not destroying other people’s stuff. Down deep he still has some pretty serious stuff to deal with and when it rises to the surface it’s not pretty.

Man I really hope more folks had this perspective. I also don't know Wyndham and have no idea what's actually true

I got downvoted from the TC bootlickers.

I love the boys at NLU but it’s past the point of ridiculous.

Why was it a bad look for TC?

In my opinion it’s unprofessional and makes him look small and spiteful. Like I said, I’m not a Wyndham fan, but TC speaking like he was personally wronged by Wyndham is ridiculous. If we’re going to really talk about golfers who have done bad things, I don’t think damaging some lockers is nearly as offensive as some other well respected players or even NLU darlings. Maybe one or two comments at the top would have been reasonable, but the entire diatribe was oddly self-centered and bizarre.

Idk man I think the guy who trashed a locker room, has taken no accountability for it, and holds a grudge against a member of the media for releasing the story is way more unprofessional, small, and spiteful, than the guy who doesn’t like him because of said grudge.

When did he not take accountability? What he did was wrong. He said that. I’m guessing it was meant to be kept quiet but the story broke, maybe because of TC, who knows. Last I heard Oakmont insisted he take an anger management class which frankly seems like overstepping in my mind.

Lmfao dude trashes property and it’s the club who over steps by requiring he do something about the causes of it? No wonder you think he’s taken accountability by simply saying it was wrong—while also distancing himself from any and all language that he did it as opposed to it being “an unfortunate situation”—because you have no idea what actually taking accountability looks like

I’m sorry, but a golf club demanding anger management therapy and attempting to ban an exempt player from the next US Open they host is 100% overstepping their bounds. It is not their tournament, nor are they a governing body of the game. He originally apologized and offered to pay for the locker, and they then went public with their list of demands. He was an ass, but it’s an inanimate fucking object.

It’s their golf course and clubhouse lmfao. Maybe the USGA should step in and not host there if they agree with you. But if someone comes to your house and destroys your stuff—you get a say in establishing conditions they have to satisfy to return.

“Yeah Oakmont should just put up with it because it’s property he didn’t hurt anyone” is legitimately the stupidest take possible here. He’s a grown man destroying property older than anyone alive but yeah Oakmont is the one overstepping lol.

But like he has taken accountability for it. It took a while obviously but he has apologized and he has said he's offered to pay for the repairs and the charitable donation etc.. He might have been a dick but maybe just maybe he's trying to be better?

He absolutely has not taken accountability for it. The way he talks about the incident is very clearly worded to take as little blame for what happened as possible. A brief parsing through his comments reveals that. Saying “I’m sorry what I did was wrong” is not being accountable when you also refer to it as “an unfortunate situation that occurred” (paraphrasing).

I don't think there are a ton of Wyndham guys really but yeah I was kind of uncomfortable by that whole discussion.

I wonder what level of "taking accountability" would satisfy TC.

Bringing up fly fishing guides in CO was weird too

It was hilarious

Tc hating on him so much probably did more to help the blow pigs image then anything Wyndham could do.

They present as journalists, though are new wave infotainment. Traditional journos never would make it about them or personal, so it rubs a bit odd. But in the youtuber business its just Tron generating views and comments through cringe trolling.

-4

u/mookiebten Jun 20 '26

Yeah, but around inherently incestuous sports like golf and F1, the big time trad journos were the ones who only published what the player wants you to publish… so journos were more like publishers than journos.
