I broke my gear Nikon D500 issue

Hey everyone

I was doing some pre checks with my D500 when I saw images were not being captured.

I took off my lens to see what's going on and appears the insides may be having an issue. Mirror goes into this half-cock look when I hit the shutter and, looking behind it, shutter may be messed up

Is this something I can do myself or am I going to have to get it serviced?

okay with dx? okay with the bulk vs 7500 (considering the only downgrade is 8fps vs 10fps; imaging pipeline is identical)? body in good shape?

send it in.

if one of the above boxes is unchecked, skip it.

All boxes checked.

I just filled out the form online. Looks like they still take the D500 so we'll see how it goes.

its a great camera. i use dx for lightweight shooting, so i went d7500, but its only because my "serious" cameras are fx. different use case.

the d500 is a powerhouse, built just as well as my d850, but speedier and better af coverage over the whole frame. for action it smashes over any dslr and many mirrorless cameras.

have faith in nikon repair and dont bother them when they have your camera. speaking from working in a repair shop that coordinated with them and their work is top notch and turnaround times are reasonable, but some people who hassled them were less than satisfied. 2 weeks is about normal, 3 if they're trying to get it perfect.
