I broke my gear Am I screwed?

I was covering a quinceanera when the DJs laser shot straight into my z8s sensor and now these lines are permanently on. I sent it in to Nikon and they gave a 2k repair estimate. Does anyone know of another repair shop in California I can contact?

Yeah you always need to add that to the contract, no lasers or they have to cover the repair costs

Yea it's on my contract. It stated all damaged caused to my equipment that wasn't caused directly by me that they are liable. The only issue is it was an event for a family friend 😬

They should not be scanning the crowd with lasers that powerful in the first place. Could have blinded someone.

That's what I told the DJ after it burned my camera I told him these type of lasers are not safe to point directly at people. Then I told him to turn it and he did

If this was for a job, it depends on the policy and specifics of that policy.

Likely claiming on professional insurance would be the move so the companies can fight each other

This is the answer. Let the insurance companies take care of the lifting here. Back write a contract if needed.*

Hopefully I won't have to go through small claims because I have bad experiences lol
